As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th.

I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch.

And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years.

I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.

We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.

Bro they shouldn't have won those 2 games either. It took a couple 4th down conversions and 2 last second FGs.

I hate to poo on fellow fans thinking 8 wins is within reach, the odds are nano size. I do not know the future and there are surprise teams each year, but the Panthers are not one of them this year. Young would need to break records and evero would have to win assistant of the year. This team lacks talent, young talent to be more correct.

The best thing going for them is the piss poor NFC south. It took the heavens opening to beat ATL and they should be favored by 17 this year. Even in the worst division them barely won 2, this team is B-A-D.

Steve Smith was told he didn't belong on an NFL field.

Sam Mills was told he didn't belong either.

Yes, being bigger and stronger is helpful, but that doesn't ensure a long career in the NFL either, just ask Cam.

Bryce is tough, but those two are light years tougher.

Plus I can not name another sam mills or Smitty clone......my 1930s football is weak.

That's the deal the odds are stacked against him. Plus my biggest issue was there's no- elite trait to make up for his size lack. Vick was a small&short NFLer, but he had elite movement and speed to make you go " I DO NOT CARE if he's 5'9.75, he just scored a 75 yard TD in which the defenders ran into themselves!!"

He does have the rules are made to over protect QBs, unlike during Vicks era.

Not to mention vick had a cannon along with elite wheels.

  3. I think giving Brady the #1 spot will be a huge mistake. The other mistake was giving Brady that insane contract, what a joke.

Greg was a natural and still finding his pace when he talks too much. He should get the #1 spot back when Brady is done after this year.

This is cool. I mean I'm sure they have the technology to implant chips in to footballs and onto the fields to measure spatially where the ball is. But then that'd take the fun and anger out of reacting to the ref's subjective opinions lol.

If they add chips to the football, how will bryce young throw them?!?!?!

  5. Carolina is at the stage where its dreaming to think dak would even come here, no matter your opinion of his play.

Best QB we had in 6 years is teddy 2 gloves, but posters here don't want dak....drug test da huddle!1!!1!

Chris Donnelly made a great point about Bryce being so polarizing.  It sucks, but that's just how it is.  We need to start winning, and Bryce needs to play well.  Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

    Just Huddle going Huddle...

I felt the Cam vibes on the huddle with Bryce, in fact its almost there. Threads that have no mention of young, turn in them.

Only deal is Cam had tons more supporters/nut huggers.

I honestly hated talking Cam with 90% of the huddle, in many eyes he was perfectly accurate with all his throws and if he had a legit great game the true haters were missing in action.

Cam board is now a Bryce board...

The Niners owner had issues until he landed Shanny.

Yes they were in the Panthers shoes, but the deal is they had talented players on the roster.

49ers hired the same firm that Panthers used, they gave lynch a 6 year deal and he never been GM or scout. I believe he was doing color commentator games. They gave chip Kelly one year and before Jim " I only eat meatball subs" Tomsula one year, huge mess. Shanny is one of the best young minds in the NFL and he did save the 49ers. That's want panthers need a savior.....

It is hope for the Panthers, just need talented players and NOT to trade them away or over pay them....

If only we'd invest in some actual talent at the qb3 spot instead of a guy Louisville fans couldn't say goodbye to fast enough. We could have gotten a better guy in FA, this dude didn't even get ranked on most top 30-40 qb prospects for just this draft class

Canalas came out a while back and said he wanted a vet type QB3, odd with Dalton. All reports Dalton's has been a great mentor for young.

I agree with you, In the 5th I wanted them to toss a pick on a QB and had eyes on Jordan Travis. Even at that point the hater rattler would have been welcomed in my eyes. I liked what the pats did after drafting maye, Milton has some talent. Purdy was drafted a long with lance. Cousins was drafted with rg3.

Panthers already had delhome, I doubt that happens again for some time. They shouldn't be scare to add legit competition for young, this is the NFL.

The mid-level ones have been nice. Chiefs moved up for Mahomes and the Bills did for Allen. Build a strong roster and only use one future first to move and get a high ceiling QB was the formula in both cases. The Niners tried to replicate but overpaid and honestly didn’t really give Lance a chance once Purdy started winning.

The people at the top of chiefs. bills, and 49ers the owners, coaches, GM are just light years better than panthers. Purdy was a life saver for 49ers, otherwise lynch and shanny would have been fired. I seen a recent report that after a few practices shanny told York purdy was the best QB on the roster. Better than jimmyg, lance, darnold.

I hope Morgan and canalas show they close the gap, at least tepper spends plenty.......

    As of right now IMO...

Raiders, Bears (rookie QB), Commanders (rookie QB), Broncos (rookie QB), Giants (Europe game), and Cardinals seem winnable.  Throw in some division wins (Canales hopefully splits with Bucs, and I could see us splitting with the Falcons OR Saints if we make the right improvements...

To me that's 8 wins if everything goes our way (Bryce progresses, Evero's defense is playing great, running game is working, XL or Mingo turn into real threats, Johnson plays as good as he did in Pitt, etc...)

Realistically I'm thinking 6 wins and I think that could be a successful season with a new coach inheriting a 2-15 team.  6-11 with our offense looking better and playing competitive football and I'll be happy.

I do think 8 wins is the top limit for this group. Honestly them not winning a game has similar odds.

So 0-8 is the range. Add in the owner, last six years, No real first pick while nfc south had theirs among other low picks aka they got better, lost Burns, luvu, djak and others solid vets(boz, bell, etc). Last second FG wins, never lead in the 4th, didn't score a single point the final 2 games.

Im going with 2 dubs and I hope a surprise 8 wins claims the NFC south as they label the Panthers as the worst playoff team in NFL history!!

This is Homer time of year.  Perfect season.

That being said, the more I kook at our defensive line, the more that I don't see the team winning a single game.

    Hope I'm wrong.

DL doesn't look bad compared to other groups- Turtle, Dbrown, Clowney, Robinson, and wonnum. That's 5 guys that are or have been solid or above average for most of their careers. In fact Id say its the strength of the panthers. No ones too old or coming off a bad injury.

Depth-wise it is down right bad, just need to avoid injuries much like LB.

I agree with you about finding just win, I got them match last seasons 2 wins.

*I still feel NFC south is wild enough that if the planets align, panthers *could cash in their lotto ticket winner and shock the world. Cousins setback and penix sucks. LOL @ carr and HC Dennis Allen. TB used their luck and bakers play comes back to earth. Young shows he deserves that #1 pick and evero calls a masterful year.......... .0000000001567399% chance. Thats the best I can hope for, tons of miracles.....

  12. 1% chance he's great

That's why I believe this 'rebuild' will take 4 years.

I don't see anyone thus far that believing he will be great.

I am hoping he will just be good enough.

I also hate the fact that before young was picked, he was the answer to not having a great OL or WRs. Now one year later- 170 million spent on 3 Olmen, trade for starting CB for a troubled but talented WR, and use the first 2 draft picks on WR&RB. (4th on TE).

NOW the plan is to run the ball until fan boo form foxball flash backs.Terrible no matter the perception.

Just about any street QB could be hidden behind a run game, but here the Panthers are doing it for a Qb that they traded a huge haul for including the best valued WR in the league.

    Failure to the max.

It's really difficult to look at our defensive line and see more than one difference maker.

My main issue with the hunt deal was if he was truly that highly thought of, phins would have tagged him. Then traded him or ________ . I use to be super hardcore, still panther hardcore. But I never heard of this guy.

Icky could be that elite guy, but without campy giving him lots of help like his rookie year, he out right blew dog-water. People are focused on young having a bounce back year, but Ickey is right there next to him in needing that too. Lewis is or should be above average. Colbert is ????. Moton is older but rock solid average-above average in nearly all systems. SUcks Moton never wanted or have the skill to man the LT, that's my issue with him along with his insane salary made by former GMs.

The key to this is HAROLD GOODWIN, he's got to be a wizard.

I can’t prove it but just something I believe…the entire NBA is rigged.  Knicks getting all the calls in the garden…the absolutely absurd lottery that has no business in sports.  The worst team should pick first but the NBA has to fix it

I mean it was when Donnelly was out there for two years.

The rumor of Knicks getting a frozen envelope for patick ewing, among other stuff. Then there was giving the first pick which was the local choosen one lebron James to cleveland. The league/David stern found a buyer for the new orleans included gifting of the first pick, which was Antony Davis. As a hornet fan I remember he was 10000000000000000x the clear best player and the hornets drafted a role player without a jumper at #2 overall. Imagine Davis on the hornets, he would have changed the loser history for sure.

Many lotto felt fixed, or WERE fixed.

The thing is these smooth brain fans are like wrestling fans, they don't care just have drama/action/entrained/etc,

My issue is why would the other owners allow this? Sure money and all, but after billions millions don't matter as much....they want trophies, wins, and bragging rights among other owners. If I was a owner and we had one of those "secret" meeting and they go- "Bas we are giving the clear #1 pick Davis to new orleans and you get the #2 so be happy'. I'd put the team up for sale the nano second after that BS.

I felt the same, but I left the NBA mainly cause the games were boring and lazy until 2 minutes left in each quarter. All-star games became regular season games. Yes teams/coaches like spurs with pop, Larry brown, and pat Reilly played hard. Then add in Michael Jordan being the worst owner in history, it was easy to leave.
