Maybe not enough experience yet? They seemed to keep him around until another team offered him a promo, so they didn’t think too badly of him. WR coach to passing game coordinator to QB coach.

Maybe. You know he wanted that OC gig each time, I believe the last time they even stated he interviewed for the role. This was during the whole youth movement that mccvay started as well.

Honestly I was hoping Seattle would have cut ties with pete, he would have been great here in a top mentor role. I don't think its talked about enough, they did Pete wrong. He made them a great NFL team for the first time in their history and gave them a SB. He's still in great shape by all reports and they just decided to go young. They even removed most of his pictures and quotes in the building. Sorta like what the pats did to bill, but waay worse.

I guess I have too much loyalty for the new times, no chance either should been to out for retirement..

The real issue is the fact that this thread had nothing to do with Bryce Young, and yet once again somehow, someway, someone found a way to talk about how bad he is again.  It is just exhausting reading it over and over and over again, like we get it.  Bryce sucks.  And you can't even blame the "Bryce fanboys" because again, nobody had even talked about Bryce in this thread until that post.

Can we not just sticky a "Bryce sucks" thread at the top of the forum?

Similar happened when Cam was here, he dominated the forum comments. It's the life of a #1 QB on the worst team.

Plus while I don't have much hope for little bryce, I don't think Im ready to say he sucks. But it is a big year for him, the biggest in his career.

If I'm being honest,  he had me fooled big time.  I thought he was going to be the one and didn't understand why we drafted Clausen (which was still a bad move, but only because he sucked).

With that said, the coaching staff and front office/owner failed that team big time.  It makes no sense that a team with the talent that we had finished 2-14.  Matt Moore might not have been a franchise QB but he was a lot better than he showed in 2010.

Matt moore had a great career, especially for a UDFA. I think they even claimed him off the blowboys and he won a SB as a backup for KC.

I thought Clausen was the steal of the draft where the Panthers got him.

  4. I have never thought the Panthers were a 2 win team before seasons start.

during the fox years 7 wins was the worst until the last lame duck year.

I always told myself "well they can ride _____(most times it was defense)" for a few wins. I see nothing to hang hopes on this team.

They were what last in sacks and lost burns, just going to be a long season.

I still remember reading about the team practicing in a ball room during bad storms, and thinking the team I root for is running a Mickey Mouse organization. Glad to hear Tepper is trying to catch the team up with the times

Tepper is lots of things, but cheap is not one them.

Jrich would have NEVER bought that 700,000$ bubble and tepper did year one.

He tired to build avengers panthers and coofus hit which made a ultra tight contract fall apart. Speaking of which, tepper bought those 20k cleaning robots.

Last years staff was the highest paid in the NFL. He's hired extra strength and sport psychology people.

While he's failed, but its not due to penny pinching.

Meanwhile. The talented wide receiver who just came off a career year with a QB who was jettisoned to a different team and whom we traded for our young franchise QB is 17th in annual WR salary. Probably one of the only things the last regime got right was signing him to that deal when they did.

What non-rookie contract is better than Moore's?? Its the best valued one in the NFL.

It's like with Friterer was the same as Canales. 'He's a great guy' and everyone loves him but Seattle had a HC opening with ties and no interview, even with a playoff appearance in a weak NFCS to boost his name. The NFL is all about ties and connections. It's so much more a small pond than most sectors could be so the corporate NFL bs is sooooo much thicker. All of those openings and no HC interviews? B Johnson is an anomaly, like a Kiffin, where usually you have guys that will go whereever to take a promotion even if it looks terrible for a distance, Wilks to Arizona comes to mind. It's weird and interesting how the NFL mirrors and then deviates from the rest of corporate America in their MOs.

Very Odd, seems someone is lying about the "love" between Seattle and canales.

I did read some about B.johnson and he said he wanted a stable good job and that 5 out 8 teams that filled this past season, will be open again in three years. I somewhat get his point, but he's lost millions the past two years waiting. Plus great job are never open cause great team don't fire their HCs. He put lots of time and sweat into the lions and wanted to enjoy the good times longer.

I do think tepper made other coaches not want to be here. That all-star staff had as you stated had connections around the league and coaches are no different when someone contracts them and goes " How was it Carolina ??'.... " Love the area, hated the work environment/owner".

They did get Brian Callahan to interview and had a 2nd one lined up, but in just one interview titans hired him. I'd much rather had him or just name evero HC instead.

Nobody wanted Ron Rivera either and he interviewed everywhere. No one wants this job..... even the jags got recent SB winning Doug Peterson....

I truly think Carolina coaching rep is in the dump and they fuged up waiting for Callahan. Panic move. This is my pure guess too, Jim Caldwell is the acting/real HC and canales is the OC.

Sounds like reality. Didn't Seatle also not interview him for their opening?

The best I member was he did interview for the OC job, again why since he's been there 17=/- years?? Rams had already been picked over for years as well.

It reminded me of one of my old friends that worked for IBM. Hed been there for 7 years and the perfect employee during. Then comes a big promotion available and all signs point to him. NOPE, it goes to some new guy that's was only there for 18 months and he was below my friend. I never thought of it, but we meet at a bar and he's like " Time for me to leave". Within the week he got some job offer in Atlanta @ 30% more than current pay and he took it. I finally understood " know your worth with this ".  Just you never know what a company thruthfully thinks. He thinks they view him as a "lifer" and "Loyal" no matter, so it didn't matter......but it DID. Miss that dude and house sitting in one of those elite areas.

Von Miller said the same thing

If you took away the arrests stuff, I think a good case could be made for von being the better pick.....he's still here and making plays while Cam is playing dress up while smoking cigars on ........(checks mathz) the 83,982,057,195,602 podcast...

Sounds like a good guy and he's going to have to do a job like Carroll did with Seattle when he went into that trainwreck.

This season is about salvaging the blocks to build a foundation. I hope he can do that because from where we're sitting the cupboard is just about bare.

2003 looked like a crap team of cast offs for us, too. And 2015 we lost our leading receiver in the offseason and had an o-line and receiving corps made of cast offs and never wases.

Maybe he'll find that old magic. Or maybe make some of his own.

Me, I just want to see something sturdy being built, and see a gritty, mauling defense paired with a smash mouth running game.

One out my many questions about canales was why didn't Pete or Seahawks make him the OC?? I've seen many reports that he was viewed highly among them.....Pete even only wanted to hear his voice for certain situations. But in what 19 years(?) he got picked over for some rams dude. Just odd.

Then he finally gets the memo and heads out to TB and the first half of the season its looking B-A-D. SO bad the Panthers nearly beat them if only young could have scored a couple points....

Panthers were the only team to interview him, ugh I need to stress eat......

Maybe no one wanted to go to coach the Panthers also.....

Are you hoping to hear a different answer than has been discussed in a thousand threads so far?

Just curious what you want to see that's different than all the other discussions about this.

Someone have a different answer or opinion than you about it that you need to call out? You mad at it and want to throw more out into it?
