Agreed. Same with those other busts. Those are hedged bets, not primary plan #1. Darnold wasn't the plan for Minny. Geno wasn't the plan for Seattle. Jones wasn't the plan for Indy.

Those guys just eventually became options due to attrition, trades or winning the competition.

That's the way I want to deal with bust QB's. As a potential option after a camp battle or injury. Not as Plan A. That's just insane.

Agreed need a proven commodity as a bridge QB and bring in one of these young guys to compete.

Also we should always be looking to add a QB. Green Bay is a good example. They have always drafted their next guy while their current guy is still good. Its worked out great for them. QBs are hard to find and every season you should look hard at them. The fact that we only look at the QB position when its "needed" is one reason we are always in QB hell. We've had maybe 10 seasons in our entire history when we actually had above average QB play.

It’s a brilliant strategy that few teams have the courage to so.  Imagine if we thought this way and drafted Lamar Jackson let sit behind Cam for a couple years. Coming out of 2017 there were already signs that Cam’s arm wasn’t the same.

  3. Any time Panthers are looking to draft or sign a QB, the crop is at its worst.

There’s literally nobody worth drafting in the first round in 2026, and free agents are slim pickings.  Maybe Russell Wilson who is officially washed up or Mac Joned who has a noodle arm.  Tepper curse strikes again

You can fire him. You could justify it too. But odds are highly likely we won't find anyone any much if at all better or less of a yes man as his replacement. In fact that is going to be the entire coaching candidate pool.

I agree you can’t fire him right now if you’re Tepper but it’s clear to me that he’s not the long-term answer unless he starts changing how he is treating and coddling players

I've been a big supporter of Young but after yesterday I have to face the reality that many of you were right.  We're never getting past mediocrity until we get a QB that can use the entire field.  We're too easy to defend.

This isn’t even mediocrity sadly. I would have been fine with a respectable performance that allows your players to make the play. He is the weakest link on the offense.

Yea that's where I am. It's hard to judge him when he's playing with a QB who can't really get him the ball consistently, but considering McMillian is already producing I wouldn't say it's a great sign for Legette.

No way we can’t have these excuses about QB play. Talent is evident no matter what.  Only thing that varies is the statistics. XL is just an athlete, not a football player

  7. I have already said I am out on Bryce so let’s not even bring him up here. I think XL sucks even if he were to have Mahomes throwing to him.

This rep alone is enough to see he doesn’t have what it takes to be a regular starter in the NFL. At least try to make the catch you idiot

Yeah lol. I know. I was begging anyone who would listen please don’t draft him.

There just isn’t a single NFL level ‘plus’ physical trait to offset his negatives. 3rd day gamble was where I had him.

The part that bothers me about him isn’t even the height it is the fact that apparently he doesn’t have an arm to reliably keep a defense honest with deep passing or to put enough velocity on the ball in short to either immediate passing to so into tight windows Last year somebody did an analysis showing that Bryce‘s arm just has not been the same since his shoulder injury in 2022. I just don’t understand how a casual fan can notice something like that but pro scouts Are fooled

Receivers arent wide open because Bryce cant throw the ball further than 20 yards down field, The field is condensed.  The secondary can throw 9 in the box or be really aggressive because there isn’t a threat of a post route. That’s not a Canales issue that’s a Bryce thing,

He’s smart but he’s physically limited. Glad you are finally seeing it.

I would love for somebody to do an all 22 and analyze if the receivers were even attempting to run vertical routes and they’re not getting separation or that schematically Dave has abandoned the vertical passing game. It makes no sense to be a run first team and not have a threat of play action deep passes
