If people think we have the worst talent in nfl history on defense then MAYBE I can see giving evero SOME slack. We are close to being statistically the worst defense in nfl history and no matter how you look at it coaching is a part of that.
The roster we fielded Sunday was pretty close. Evero has some stuff the drives me crazy he needs to clean up, but I can’t fault him for this past weekend. We were way past the tipping point of having so little talent no amount of scheme and coaching could fix it

Looking like (but who knows) Rodgers is going to move on, based on a few internet rumors. One of which (take with grain of salt) is a trade with Dallas.
Well it’s the Jets so who knows but if he moves on and I’m them, I fully build around Wilson, Sauce and Quinnen

What year of the grand rebuild will next season be anyway? I know, I know. I am being unrealistic and impatient. Some of our young players still need more time. Lots more time.
What year was Tepper hired? In all seriousness, I think we restarted for like the 4th time the day we hired Reich. Which is so dumb we’re somehow on our second head coach already in this rebuild, but at least the guy we got seems to be competent to date. Canales Y3 is when we will know if the rebuild worked.

Have at it if it makes you feel better. It's kinda pointless at this point but whatever.
Thank you for your permission to discuss next years win/loss record in the next years win/loss record thread lol

I was. Tell me what I predicted.
You didn’t predict anything, you’re just telling me I can’t use this years record, experiences, and stats, as a baseline and assumed future moves we make to make an educated guess on next seasons record. Which is just a silly thing in a thread where the whole point is predicting next years record.

Other teams and players improve as well. We are not in a vacuum
Sure. Some get worse too.

You cannot count on that as a bench mark. Every season is a new team and new circumstances in play. All 3 of those teams will be improved as well so you cannot say the outcome would be similar if you play them again. Every season is it's own unique story that you cannot predict how it will play out.
Why are you in a thread about next years win/loss record if your take is “you cannot predict how it will play out”?

My bad I was referring to the winnable 6 part. Yeah you didnt say my bad. Yeah its probably best case scenario things break our way 6 but thats a long shot imo. Some heavy hitters on offense rolling through next year. Tampa, bills, miami
Yeah that’s fair, 6 would def be optimistic but I like what I’ve seen last quarter of the year so I’ll keep my head in the clouds we can get to 4. I think Canales having a year of experience is good for at least 2 more wins next year

I mean we can play this game. And kept in mind Young has never won a true road game.
Home:
Rams - L
Giants - W
Saints - W
ATL - toss
Tampa - L
Fins - L
Bills -L
hawks - L
So 2/3 wins at home? Not sure where you are seeing 6. Again as we stand today
I don’t know where you’re seeing 6 either as I pretty clearly said 4. The only sure losses on that list are bills and rams

That is if everything works out perfectly in the offseason. You know that's not happening. If they're lucky the will get 2 starters from the draft. Being starters does not indicate they are good. Probably most of the starters will come from FA with what little money they have. There's not much to indicate that they have the money or knowhow ro get enough quality starters to make a difference. Doubling the win total would be ideal but given the complete lack of talent overall they would have to hit a homerun on every move. That ain't happening.
We have dropped, what, 3 one score games this year? While playing Andy Dalton for 5 games? The way Bryce is playing now we win one of those Andy games. I don’t think you have to hit a home run on EVERY move to get to 8 wins. The current young guys will get better, say that’s good for 1 win. Our rookie HC gets better and one of the 3 one score losses we win, that’s 1 win. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think we can then get better over the offseason to account for 2 more wins.
optimistic take, yes I know, but isn’t unreasonable imo

They have played almost the entirety of the year so I am not really following your logic. Brown I get. I am asking what players that have missed substantial time this season who will be back making an impact? Theres like one.
That’s why I asked to clarify. Shaq prob isn’t back next year, but for this year that was a huge loss. We’re elevating no name dudes to play LB

Brutal home schedule, some fun games to go see for sure but I see one gimmie
Not too bad. 6 winnable games there just at home. Take 4 there and Jets, Bears, Cardinals on the road. Yes easier said than done, but I could see us getting to 8

1 minute ago, mrcompletely11 said:
Besides brown who is another impact player coming back?
Like as of Sunday? Chubba, Horn, Moton. But it’s not just impact players, when you have your depth guys out it can hurt you just as much because then you’re activating practice squad LBs to be starters. That drop off is prob worse than starters to second string.

Granted we have FA and the draft to go through but as we stand here today on 12/31 can anyone with a straight face think this roster is winning more then 5 games? maybe 6?
This roster? Assuming you mean current active players, no absolutely not but with injuries coming back draft and FA I’m going 8-9 next year

Nice, I hope we scheme the entire offense up to make him look good and see if anyone will bite. I think we technically gave him a 4 years contract which is insane

Thoughts?
Average Throwing Yards: 206yds
Average Running Yards: 22yds
TDs: 10 throwing / 3 running
INTS: 6
QB Rating Avg: 85.3
QBR Average: 53.5
I got 12 pass TD/ 3 rush TD and 6 INT. So almost 3/1 there, but I imagine there are some lost fumbles in there I don't have numbers on and if you give him rushing TD gotta give fumbles too so prob around 2/1

Physical vs mental. There's a chance the latter is fixable. The former isn't. There's a reason why old coach sayings like "you can't coach height" or "you can't coach speed" exist. It's because they're true. You might be able to coach someone up from a technique perspective and from a mental perspective but you can't fix a fundamental lack of talent. That's why the old saying "those who can't do coach" exists.
It's weird this needs explaining.
I'm not attacking you here, I'm honestly asking. Is there anything he could do that makes you okay with his physical traits? Because if you're saying it isn't fixable then that means you will never be happy with Bryce as he will not physically grow at age 23. I don't know maybe he works out a ton and gets a stronger arm, I don't know how that works at this level.
My point being, what if this is not the right argument and there is no "fundamental lack of talent" that needs to be fixed? And instead what needed to be fixed was the Panthers QB culture that plagued both Baker and Sam who are flouring now in better cultures?
Nothing Bryce has done this week makes me think he can't throw the deep ball, can't throw the far hash, can't shake off a sack and scramble for a first, can't throw a 20 yard out, can't lower his shoulder at the sticks and get a first. Last season? Sure, those questions are there. This season? I have seen him do all of this over the past 4 weeks.

My fault, I went back and looked and it was another poster who made that wild argument.
You were simply arguing that the receiver should've done a better job trying to fight through the DBs to make the catch.
I just don't think you're following the logic. I think I've laid it out pretty clearly. All three sucked (suck) here. Darnold is a prototype physical talent but seemed to have incurable mental issues. Baker checked the stature and athleticism boxes and has a big time arm but just seemed too erratic. Bryce oftentimes simply doesn't look like he physically belongs on an NFL field both from a size standpoint and physical traits standpoint. These are very different situations.
No worries, lots of posts in there things get mixed up. Yes, I do expect WR's to attempt to use their hands and fight for a ball. There is very little chance he makes that catch there, but nothing good can happen from this "cradle the baby" motion XL likes to do. You stick your hands out and fight for the ball you can luck into a catch, draw PI, or prevent a DB making a play on it. I was ass but I did play WR in HS and this is coached constantly even at that level. I can't imagine our coaching staff is okay that he is doing this and not trying to get it corrected.
Okay well I guess I respect your opinion but just respectfully disagree. In my head, occams razor concept that maybe instead of any of these 3 individual QBs being bad here, the Panthers are just an awful organization for a QB from 2021 to 2023 makes more sense. It looks like in 2024 we have started turning that around as a franchise. The other 2 guys now play on teams with a HoF #1 and VERY solid other receivers, true #1 TEs (yes I know Otton didn't play today), and very good RB rooms. I would say we have a very good RB on that list.

Read what is being typed. Y'all are assuming a lot and you don't have to. It's been laid out.
But you still think a receiver was supposed to maul his way through two DBs to get to a badly underthrown ball and dive down to catch a "jump ball" so I got a realize what I'm working with here.
What are you talking about? Go link the post. You’re so full of poo dude, you know that isn’t even close to what I said.
you started a post trying to make Bryce look bad under your guise of being so impartial and fair but it’s dumb logic that makes no sense.

Everyone was questioning that. The narrative was that Darnold was too dumb to play in the league.
Baker looked like he couldn’t play football when he was here.
Yeah this is revisionist history to the max. There was a massive meltdown when we traded for Sam. Most the board hated it and said he was a bust who couldn’t play.

Just now, LinvilleGorge said:
Accurate in a talent vacuum but no one was questioning Mayfield and Darnold's NFL talent.
To be fair, nobody outside of a few posters on this board question Bryce’s talent this year either. Everywhere else is positive on him since his return. Gotta imagine by year 4 (if you’re comparing to Darnold and Bakers year 4) it’ll be the same.

I always felt like Mayfield never got a legitimate shot here. Compare the absurdly limited amount of rope he was given vs what we've given BY.
That was because Rhule knew he didn’t have time. We really should have kept him, but at the same time if we still went Reich it would have never worked.
Time to draft a running back?
