I feel like this is a crazy take. Obviously the plan wasn't for Brooks to get injured again.
You really believe Dan doesn't care about 2nd round picks? He was taking a risk, hoping it would pay off big. Brooks was the first running back off the board. They obviously saw a ton of potential there. Life happens sometimes.
You can't view things in hindsight and act like you knew them ahead of time.
lol thank you. Everyone’s a genius after the fact

Should have signed him to a longer term deal to replace Moton after this year
It’s still an option

Zero chance he's coming to this franchise right now, regardless of local ties.
We are at least two years away from being remotely desirable for free agents and cut casualties.
But fun to play what if ...
meh we got the top guard in FA last year after a 2-15 season. money talks

Theilen, at this point in his career, should be that guy who comes in on third and eight and gets you nine yards every time. That kind of player has insane value in the league and it's well within what he is still capable of.
4th down game is on the line, Theilen is invaluable. I definitely don't think that is considered washed up. Toby Keith said it best, May not be good as I once was, but I'm as good once

Love this. We are investing in the second most important position + we are not taking the easy out with Moton and getting that out of the way now vs kicking it down the road

Why Ramsey? Is Horn already hurt or something??
Hes talking about the FSU kicker missing everything, is my guess.
Horn is 1 CB. You kinda need 3-4 CBs.

Damn wonder what made it take so long to get the surgery done
-
For a 5th you’d be dumb not to. It’s a short term contract that’s easy to get out of later and locks down corner. If both stay healthy our defense goes from last to top 15.
no idea what they’re asking tho. If it’s a 3rd then no

Feels extremely fair when you add in context. I expect top 14 by end of this season.

That 2023 room just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Fitterer should be taken behind a Bo Jangles and shot

You're missing what I'm saying. Every year where we tank our draft position winning a couple of meaningless games we always have quite a few people pounding their chests talking about how this is how you build a winning culture. Doesn't seem to be working. I think you build a winning culture by assembling the right coaching staff and roster pieces to win on the field.
We haven’t had the right coaching staff since like 2017 and even that’s debatable. Definitely haven’t had the right roster pieces since maybe 2018/2019? Again that’s debatable too.
last year I think we got coaching right. Let’s see if this year is roster.

He’s a big slower receiver and he’s built like a high schooler lol he needs to get stronger
didn't he run like a 4.52?

So you don’t think with his weight down /position more similar to what it was in 2023 he’s capable of 10+sacks? I don’t watch college football so just going off the write ups, like getting the opinions from folks who do
Apparently the weight stuff was a little over blown but that being said A&M obviously had no idea how to use d line and going from Purdue to SEC is a big jump. I wouldn’t expect 6+ sacks this year and that’s ok. He’s super young and will keep improving

Could be wrong but I'd think it would make injury risks like Brooks undraftable.
Yep. This is not a good thing for anyone.

BY is nowhere near the QB that Purdy is. I'm not saying Purdy is other worldly talent but he's a way better NFL QB than BY is at this point and I don't think it's close

2027 FA OTs:
- Trent Williams
- Laremy Tunsil
- Orlando Brown Jr
- Terron Armstead
- Jaylon Moore
- Charles Cross
- Ikem Ekwonu
- Matt Peart
- Chuma Edoga
Icky's deal is likely going to be based on what Charles Cross gets (or vice versa). Can't wait to get the confirmation he's gonna be here long term.
I would really like to sign him before Cross gets his deal.

What other top WR did he matchup with over his college career?
I guess Troy Franklin in 23? They got blown out in the game and he had like 100 yards receiving and 2 TDs lol.

I would love if we get this done this offseason. I think he is only getting better, he’s young, and this is the only season he’s had so far without absolute dysfunction.

But we already have T-Mac, XL, Thielen, Coker, Moore and now Horn Jr.
If we're keeping a 7th WR on the roster to be a return man, they better be handling both KR and PR duties or it's not worth the roster spot.
The only other option would be to cut Horn Jr (which would be weird because if that's the case, why not just draft Jacolby instead) or Moore, and with how young this WR room is, I'd much rather have Moore than an UDFA regardless of on the field roles.
Or we just gave 200k+ to a guy we're going to cut in a few months, which would be dumb too.
I mean there’s a strong chance we really wanted both with the intention to only keep 1 and had intel that JHJ would get drafted while Jacolby wouldn’t. 200k is nothing and so is a 6th round pick. Either make the final roster, you did great.

I think we might have a deal with Cobe as a UDFA. We will bring in a ton of kickers to compete. LB is just gonna be what it is this year I guess, Trevin gotta step up.
