Anyone know if Canales is calling plays Thursday? I know starters aren’t playing but think DC should get himself some work too before the season.

I think it’s something Canales lacks and needs to work on. It’s tone at the top all the suave talk is great but sometimes you need to get on your players and demand excellence even when you don’t want to be there and it doesn’t count

That was me. Point being there are very few QBs in the history of the sport who have the arm to make that throw. Herbert possess the physical talent.

It happened right in front of him. He was drug down to the ground then a flag landed where it happened. I can understand the concern about “what if” but the dude is an NFL QB, he sees our guys get drug to the ground, flag lands where it happens, nobody is open so he throws it downfield looking for a Hail Mary. That is what you are coached to do.

It’s not enforced positivity man. Look at the EXCELLENT all 22 posts Icege did. The kind of stuff people on this board crave that we rarely get because the good posters have abandoned this place. It is a FREE PLAY. If he didn’t try the throw I know you would be the first one posting about how he didn’t try to push the ball downfield on a free play

The first play breakdown is so helpful after hearing people say Bryce panicked or had AT wide open or someone even said he never even saw the flag. Justin Herbert probably makes that throw, Bryce doesn’t. That’s a fair criticism

Bryce’s biggest issue imo is it takes him way too long to relax. I’m not talking drives, I’m talking games. After his rookie season almost can’t blame him, then the benching seemed to help. I didn’t want the game yesterday but people said he was looking skittish and lost (I know take with a grain of salt) but wouldn’t be surprised if he balls out this entire week again then struggles game 1. He has to find a way to wash away everything about his rookie season and first half of last year and trust himself and coaches. It’s Y3 I think we get a much faster start this year if the OL and WR live up to their potential.

I agree with this. Does everyone remember last year when someone would have a massive pass play against us 3-4 times each game? we had multiple busted coverages every Sunday. I’d rather have Scott get beat than have free runners with nobody around them. That being said, hopefully eventually it’s a more talented guy back there who also knows all the calls
