Yeah this is basically the same BS people said about TMJ.

The truth is, if you suck as badly as Mingo did as a rookie, you rarely pull out of that nosedive.

I don’t know about that. Mingo had like 450 this year in a horrible offense and had some really impressive flashes. TMJ had what? 200 yards total his rookie year? I think I remember one play he’s even done that stood out and pretty sure that was year 2.

Mingo is an even bigger bust than TMJ. There is no amount of coaching that is going to fix him.

The best thing for us is to bury him on the bench by signing and drafting much better players. NFL caliber players.

What? How could one even come to this conclusion?

I cannot find where the original tweet but I saw on Twitter we are interviewing some guy from the Broncos for DC... Hope that doesn't mean Evero is out.

Some advice from an old friend...

Ron Rivera, the winningest head coach in the history of the Carolina Panthers, has some advice for new head coach Dave Canales. But before we get to that, the coach also had a few words for the team’s fans.

“Be patient,” he said. “Ask them to be patient, like they were for me.”

    ...

Hopefully they’ll be able to put some veteran guys around him, to help him as he tries to navigate through the pitfalls of being a head coach in the league... You have to make sure you are surrounded by people that are going to help you. You want them to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.”

    ...

Rivera said one of the early errors he made as a first-time head coach at Carolina was that he didn’t find mentors quickly enough who had been head coaches in the NFL.

“That was one of the first mistakes I made,” Rivera said. “Honestly, my first two years I didn’t have a (former NFL head coach as a) mentor, somebody that when I needed some guidance or an opinion, would provide it.

    ...

Rivera said part of the way he connected with Charlotte was through community work and added that Canales would be smart to do the same. “This is not just about a football team,” Rivera said. “It’s about the community. You need to make sure you help with that, and I’m sure he will. That’s so important. That’s how the fans get to know who you are, so then they can get behind you and support you.”

Some good advice from Ron. I gotta imagine Canales is able to speed dial Carrol whenever he needs now that he isn't coaching and that has to be a huge advantage.

Sign Evans and Higgins.  Keep Thielen and Mingo. Draft a rookie or two.

yeah it's really not that far away if we're willing to spend the money there. we could go from last to 16-20ish range by doing what you said

And we thought having a rich owner was a good thing. He can just throw money at whoever he decides to gamble on and if he doesn't like what they're doing he'll can them.  Also doesn't sound like he's taking a back seat at all lol. "Something of a buffer"

Ultimately all HC and GMs report to the owner, so this isn't like a weird only Panthers thing. If there are 2 legit people (Dan and whoever this other new hire) between Tepp and Canales, I'd be pretty content with that.

On a similar note, I wish Tepp would pay Pete a billion dollars to come on in some sort of advisory role.

I think I feel the same way, but also double edged sword. What does Pete want to do? Would he come here and really push coaching decisions like we heard last year with Reich and all this experience on staff? Or would he be a pretty silent but helpful resource in the background? Who knows, but yeah would be good to explore that

If we lose Evero this is really going to be a questionable hire. At least we have something with the defense. Not sure it's the same defense without Evero.

Hopefully we can keep Evero as DC.

He's under contract and paid well. Unless he gets a HC offer or Canales just hates him (he scored 30 points total against us in 2 games, so he should be pretty impressed) I think he stays.

  9. One thing that is going for him... Pete Carrol is one of the best culture builders to ever do it. He's the rare type that could do it both in college and NFL which means his system truly works. Pete hired Canales to USC from COMMUNITY COLLEGE and has followed him everywhere and worked his way up until he left for the Bucs. That's almost 15 years of seeing exactly how Pete does team building at different stops. Gotta imagine a lot of that stuck with Canales.

  10. I think I like the hire, but I don't like the timing. It feels a little rushed and i wish we finished the interview process with other candidates..... but at the same time the public has no idea what's going on beyond the scene and we might have known who was already unofficially out. Basically I know nothing and have no idea what to think and am ready for more hurt but cautiously optimistic.

  11. Thanks for posting. His offense is the anti-Reich and everything I was hoping we'd incorporate to make life easier for our rookie qb with the worst skill room in the league. No excuses for Bryce, this is a scheme he can and should excel in, we will know this time next year if we have our qb or need to go shopping 2025. He also just seems like a good likeable dude from this vid you posted... that stuff can go a long way with players and the locker room. Reich seemed to be so nonchalant about everything and i think it may have killed the energy in the building

16 of the last 23 Super Bowl winners were coached by a retread. I’d say the evidence shows it works just fine.

Though out anything associated with Tom Brady and what is that number? Just do last 10 years when the league dramatically shifted to a pass first and what is that number? I have no idea id honestly be interested in what it looks like

  13. Wow… this is… mind boggling. My only hope is there is a ton more info internally where Dan showed where he vouched for said players that Fitt passed on who were successful elsewhere. Idc that Dan came to huddle tailgates and used to play here, get the best man for the job. Maybe he is, and I’ll do my best to trust it but being an internal promote does not get me feeling warm and fuzzy about this at all.

Will sit back, shut up, and hope he proves me wrong.
