  1. Didn’t see that Aleksej Pokuševski signing, thanks. 17th overall pick at 19 years old, 7-foot Serbian who ran the point one game for OKC and had an NBA triple double, lol? Some lofty comparisons to Chet Holmgrem. Sounds like your hail-Mary type pickup, maybe he’s nothing, maybe he sticks. I do like that we’re getting younger.
  2. I’ve been saying this for years. Best job these days is a fired football or basketball coach. Pro or D1, the buyouts are insane.
  3. Anyone have a take on Davis Bertans? When I saw him part of the Hayward trade and saw his contract ($17mik), I assumed he’d be a buyout along with Kyle Lowry. But he didn’t get bought out and is playing significant minutes. Seems to be a stretch 4 (6’10) that can actually shoot the three at a decent clip. He was 4/8 from three tonight, mostly garbage time. At $17mil (not fully guaranteed) he’s one of our most expensive players but can’t imagine he’s a longterm fit. Guessing he was included to match Hayward’s salary and won’t stick around CLT next year? The real pieces from that move were Micic, Tre Mann, and the two 2nds.
  4. Yeah they’re doubling us up. We might not even score 75 points tonight.
  5. A year ago the Panthers, Texans, and Bears were in the worst shape of all NFL teams. Texans got Stroud, receivers, make the playoffs. Bears have #1 overall, #9 overall, DJ Moore, and still have Fields. Panthers have #33 and Bryce
  6. I know it’s been against some weaker competition, but a 10-41 team suddenly going 5-1 after big trades is more than remarkable. And holding an NBA team to 80 points on the road is insane. Two games against the Bucks probably won’t sustain this hot streak but I like the trajectory of this team moving forward.
  7. Tre Mann has serious All-Star potential (younger and cheaper than Rozier and higher upside) and Grant Williams is a huge 3-and-D glue-guy. Throw in the first-round picks and the salary dumps and I really like what we have right now.
  8. I just got a raise! Woohoo! Now I can pay my lawyer, accountant, mechanic, and housekeeper more!
  9. I really like the new additions and the way they fit this roster long-term. Add in the two future first-round picks and I think the Hornets have a bright future. (Tre Mann, Micic, and Grant Williams really have me hyped!) 1.) Lamelo Ball / Micic 2.) Tre Mann / Seth Curry 3.) Brandon Miller / Cody Martin 4.) Miles Bridges / Grant Williams / Bertans 5.) Mark Williams / Nick Richards
  10. On the 4-game winning streak since the trades: “Earlier in the season we would have gave up and let them run away with it," Bridges said. "But you know, we got veteran guys in our locker room now — winning players — and we got it done.” “We didn’t let our offense dictate our defense. We got key stops,” Bridges said about the Hornets keeping the Jazz without a field goal the last 3:33 of the game. Charlotte snapped a 16-game losing streak in Utah. The last win for the Hornets over the Jazz on the road was a 104-89 victory on March 1, 2006. “That’s big for this team." Grant Williams said. "Everybody just plays the right style of basketball. Everybody here, you can tell, wants to win. We have that mentality of doing all that it takes.” “In these four games that Grant’s been on the floor, we’ve been really good,” Clifford said. “He creates a lot of offense for his teammates with his shooting … and then he’s like the middle linebacker back there and organizes your defense. He also plays with great physicality.”
  11. Kyler Murray has been jacked his whole life. He was also a power lifter growing up.
  12. Actually Bacot is the poster-child for my original point and this discussion about players entering the draft at 19/20 and busting in the NBA. Bacot and NIL Bacot probably could’ve been drafted at 20/21 years old and would be out of the league by now. But NIL kept him in school for two extra years. He’ll never get an NBA contract and that’s fine - it’s better for the league, it’s better for the schools, and it’s better for the player (he’s worth $5mil and has multiple businesses). This is the upside of NIL.
  13. Nevermind height, it’s about the FRAME of each. Kyler’s a pretty big dude and a workout warrior. Bryce is short but also very slight. He needs to be hitting the weightroom hard this off-season.
  14. Chicken fights and piggy back rides?
  15. You think the Bears would give us a do-over and trade #1 and #9 for Bryce and Burns? Lol. We got fleeced by a program almost as bad as ours.
  16. I dunno, I saw this week where Silver stated publicly that they’re reconsidering the entire idea of the G League now because of NIL. If they could come to some sort of solution where the NBA and NIL could keep kids in college for 2 or 3+ years and they still get paid (at least what the G League was paying)... Seems like a win-win might be possible. If you’re 19-20 and projected borderline or late 1st round, everyone’s going to want you back in college for another year. And the NBA teams will start shying away from those “developmental” 20 year olds in favor of an Armando Bacot, for example. JMO
  17. All we gotta do is hit home runs on all 9 of our 6 picks and we’re good to go.
  18. And the G League wins, lol. I hope Mac makes an NBA roster eventually.
  19. Man, they really made these Rising Stars rosters even lol. Wemby B Mill Vasquez Jabari Smith Jr vs a bunch of G League guys. Mac McClung vs Wemby, should be exciting lol.
  20. It’s looking more and more like the Hornets got some promising steals for vets we mostly wanted gone anyways. Tre Mann Grant Williams Micic Seth Curry Bertans Two firsts We were borderline rock-bottom, now there’s some promising upside and I love it… Just win.
  21. I couldn’t watch tonight’s game but apparently Tre Mann tore it up in a win. If you haven’t watched this highlight clip I posted of him last week, I *highly* recommend it. Dude has ridiculous handles, and makes insane moves, especially towards the end of the video. Super high ceiling.
  22. Wilks seems destined to be the defensive version of Eric Bienemy. Something about their personalities just seem to clash with the players and/or coaches. The guy coaches a Top-3 defense to the Super Bowl, shut down the juggernaut Mahomes much of the game, and gets fired? Shanahan’s comments about it reference “not a great fit” and things of that nature (similar to reports about Bienemy). When you’ve been the boss, sometimes it’s hard to have a boss. My take at least.
