Beating Tampa won't affect draft position though?

Correct, unless Giants or Jets win their games.

If Giants win (13.00 game), a losing Panthers are guaranteed to get the 5t pick. Other games are irrelevant.

Titans and Bengals need to win and Vikings lose (13.00) to have any chance of jumping ahead of Jets. Then at (16.00) Jets need to win and Cardinals lose and they play the same time as Panthers. So before game we know if it's possible.

Pick at 4 in theory, 5 possible and 6 likely.

We’ll the principal is the same for me. I don’t know how the chart grades the values well but in this case, would you be willing to make a move like this? I would absolutely be willing to move down 20 spots and add a 1st and 3rd next year. I feel that protects the future and still gives Rhule a first to hopefully begin the Oline improvement this season

I would consider it. More picks is most often better, except when you have a really high pick.

So it would depend on how the draft board looks like and what grades I have on the o-line and QB prospects at the end of first and early second round. And taking a look at next year's prospects.

I could talk myself into swing and miss on these fringe QB prospects. And it would not affect my plan to take a QB with the first rounder the next year. Somewhat what Cardinals did with Rosen and Murray, you try till you hit. Maybe trade back before doing so. But O-line is of course an option.

No, you read that right. I would be. If we could get more, I would prefer that.

But I don’t trust Rhule to make the most of this pick and I fear he could trade this pick for another QB bandaid or draft another defensive player as crazy as it sounds. I just have very little faith in his ability to evaluate talent.

So yeah. I would rather trade this pick for a 3rd this year and a first next year for our new HC. It gives the next guy the ability to move up and keeps us from taking a Kenny Pickett or some other head scratcher.

ultimately I just want to keep Rhule away from doing any more damage. Would rather the next HC have more tools to rebuild with than give Rhule any more ammunition to shoot ourselves in the foot yet again.

There are charts for how much picks are valued, but without looking at it.

The 6 pick would probably be worth a 1st rounder 20+ this year AND 1st next year + your 3rd this year.

We got a 3rd during last year's draft when we traded back in round 2.

The SOS can fluctuate--I wonder if Ellis factored that into his prognosis?  For example, the Jets SOS is .515 and the Panthers is .507--a difference of .008.  Is it not possible for the Jets' SOS to drop and the Panthers' SOS to increase during week 18?  The Jets could then win and the Panthers then lose and the Jets would not drop below the Panthers.

I guess I am not sure how much these SOS numbers can fluctuate during the final week of the season.

I tried to figure it out, see above.

Wished I had kids in school age, they know these stuff. Math... 😄

It is possible but highly unlikely. Those SOS already include the week 18 opponents so it would require at this point a major swing like all NFC South teams winning and all AFC East and NFC East teams losing. Since this week is basically all in division games all the main divisions you played will go 2-2 for all 3 of us and if say the Jets win, their division opponents go 1-2 and ours if we lose go 2-1. So basically, unless the single teams we all played (you play 6 division games, 8 matched division games where every team in your division plays every team in the other division and 3 extra games) go heavy wins or losses there would only be a one game change which I’d be surprised if it closed the gap. Heck, the Jets 3 extra games could all win. Our extra 3 were Houston, Arizona and Minnesota. Jets were Philly, Bengals and Denver. Giants were Rams, Miami and Chicago, even though they are way behind us. Houston isn’t far ahead of us now. They were but are not now and their 3 are Cleveland, Chargers and us.

Out of those, I think ours go 1-2, Jets go 1-2, Giants go 2-1 and Houston’s go 1-2.

I think we all lose but I don’t see enough extra wins for anyone’s SOS to really change enough in the last week especially since everyone plays division foes.

I tried to figure it out, not sure its correct.

Of the three Panthers representatives taking part in the conversation, Hurney was the most skeptical of Rhule and if he would be the right fit.

“You go into it and you have preconceived notions and I was probably more toward Matt Rhule in the process, the ranking, just for me. Marty had other rankings,” Tepper said. “And then I think once we saw him switch over — me and Steven were kind of on the Matt Rhule, leaning that way — once Marty, who was a little bit skeptical, went over that way, then we went into recruiting mode.”

  7. Fitterer mentioned during the draft how he and the scouts involved the coaches in the draft process.

I hope the coaches did have a lot to say and influence in the picks being made. Specially on the offensive side.

And that Fitterer and Morgan will pick the players they think are the right for this team in 22.

I am bummed Marshall did not have an impact this season. If he would have catched the TD in the first game, maybe things would have been different. I hoped he would be a threat in the red zone.

We don’t have our 4th either, we have Houston’s. We are out our 2nd, 3rd and 4th next year.

And the 7th rounder went to Raiders but gained a 6th. Our most valuable 6th rounder will go to Bills.

Which is the Panthers pick. So that means, of the original 7 picks, 1st and 5th is left.

Still have 6 picks in 2022 draft.

    • 1st
    • 4th Texans (or unclear, Rams?)
    • 5th One of Jags, unclear which probably Jags
    • 5th
    • 6th from Raiders
    • 7th from Dolphins, unclear which probably Titans.

    Correct me if im wrong.

5 wins last year. If we end with 5 again,  that’s as much proof as you could possibly need to show zero progress. How the hell do you not do better with two full drafts/FA/off seasons?

Also the strength of schedule makes room for even one more win this season and it’s still a fail. Zero progress.

.. and one more game being played.
