Comment from Dane Brugler regarding his final mock draft:
"Honestly, I hope it doesn’t play out this way — I want chaos, and there’s a good chance we get it this year."
A good chance for "chaos"
Brugler doesn't really elaborate any further, and for the record his final mock is pretty standard (Panthers take Jalon Walker).
Still, the comment about there being a "good chance" at things going a little squirrely caught my attention.
That would certainly be...interesting
In your other thread, don't remember the title. Some insight was that most teams in top 10 was looking into trading out of their pick.
Sound like potential chaos.
Will it happen? Depend on teams accepting a lot less compensation for doing so.
Maybe some top 10 teams even will be considering trading up, if their attempt to trading down is getting low balled. Just to get a blue chip player.

Is that total wingspan? In my head its like each arm is 4 inches shorter, which seems insane. Or Evans is god tier on the ape index.
It is measured from shoulder to fingertip, so not wingspan. Arm length can differ a lot. I know two people who both are, about 5-6 / 5-7 (173cm) and their differences is ~20cm, that's about 8 inches...

going forward, we should pretend he doesn't exist. Whatever you get out of him is a bonus.
We need a Hubbard compliment. We should draft one in round 4ish.
the only sensible approach...

But value IS the core of the argument. RB's represent some of the worst wins/position in the draft.
I am not saying that it is insane to take a RB high in the draft but your needs basically need to align with that.
Ultimately, in the first two rounds, it is a luxury pick. You basically already have a great roster.
Chiefs is a proof of that.
Their RB core underachieved and they used, i think, 7 backs in 2019. So since their team was already good, they could use their 31-32 pick or whatever on a RB.
He was their lead back year 1. Then he was outplayed by an UDFA and then later replaced as a starter by a 7th rounder.
I think the list if first rounders in the latest 10 sb that was playing for the team that drafted them are:
Stewart, Gurley, Edwards-Helaire, Michel.
Edit:
So, two losing the sb and two luxury picks that didn't get a second contract with the team.
Don't draft a RB in round 1.

Eagles didn't draft Barkley in the first.
That's the argument.
Few are saying you shouldnt sign great players..

Probably deserves its own thread but if Bryce is starting to become the QB we expected him to be, then we need to draft receivers that works best for him. And since he gelled with Thielen from the start, that's telling me Bryce mainly needs guys who actually know how to play the fundamentals of the position. Run the right route. Catch a well placed ball. It's probably why Bryce and XL aren't meshing yet while he has done better with Coker; XL came in much more raw and inexperienced.
Best comparison would be Brady for all the seasons he didn't have superstar receivers. His targets were simply intelligent and reliable players.
Yes, it's own thread. Before FA or Draft.
22 hours ago, grimesgoat said:I'd offer Keenan Allen a 2 year, $15 million contract to finish his career right here in his home state. He is smart, reliable, and runs great routes. I think he would be perfect for Bryce and would not break the bank. Then we can use the draft for mostly defense (at least rounds 1-3).
Can't say I remember his play this year, but it would make sense and my argument is the other two posters whom (who, which?) I have quoted.
1 hour ago, MHS831 said:I guess you could look at it this way: There is a LOT invested in Bryce right now. Do you continue to make sure that his development is improving, or do you abandon that momentum and salvage the defense? He is good, but he does NOT have that big name, big time WR. Going to get a WR we can call a #1 is probably stupid right now. Here is why:
Higgins and Godwin, the two top options in free agency, imo, are #2 WRs who got a lot of balls because Chase and Evans were the focus of the defense--I think the system made them better than they would be here--without a #1 to give them single coverages and no safety over the top. THEY would suddenly be the #1, and their numbers would fall. What would their salaries be based on? Production in other cities. It rarely works. Most top WRs in free agency to go places with top QBs--we'd have to overpay the market then overpay the performance.
Most if not all of the top free agent WRs were often the second option during the pre-snap reads or check down processes. Put him in the #1 WR shoes, he is more likely to struggle.
Some key questions I ask myself:
What is wrong with having 5 WRs who can catch the ball and no single person as the true #1? Imagine a group of 5 or 6 WRs featuring well rounded, talented WRs. Not a Rambo knife, a steak knife, and three butter knives--A Swiss Army Knife. Let the #1 emerge and develop on the roster--
What would benefit Bryce more--a #1 WR or a stud #1 TE and a good WR with a good defense?
I understand the knee jerk reaction to give him weapons--but be smart about it.
Interesting point. Sort of like this years Bills? Can't remember them having a standout receiver this year (1k+), when Diggs and Davis left.

I agree. I’m just saying these pro level strength programs are a joke cause they never get anyone stronger. For the most part they inherit already strong athletes and don’t help them get stronger.
Putting up numbers shouldnt be the goal. They are not competing in powerlifting or weightlifting. Explosiveness and durability.
@HardcoreHokie No doubt BY can squat 300. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise.
Saying he can't squat 400.. maybe not. But that's not the goal either.

Not that I am advocating paying him ( I don't focus much on cap space unless its a crazy contract ). Would it be advisable to pay him now to keep him on the roster to replace Moton after next year? It would hurt to lose a capable linemen who we know works for us. Just a thought. What's the huddle think?
Seems like people have forgotten, Brady C is only 2 years younger than Taylor Moton.
He will be 29 this autumn, Moton will be 31.
If we want to look at the future after Moton, BC is not the one.

Here is what i do not get--Morgan says, "We gonna get some DAWGS." XL has gifts, size, speed, but Morgan's first draft pick--the one he traded up for-- is not a dawg. I want him to do well, but he needs to be the alpha and take it to the defensive back. It is not just about being physical, but it is a mindset that makes you think you are the best player on the field--that the others are scared of you--it is not about running your mouth--it is between the ears. I think he will be better by next year. Forget the accent--forget the Possum pudding--get your frigging head right and start thinking that every ball in the air is your next touchdown.
When Morgan asked "Are you a dawg?" And XL answered with. "I eat dawgs for breakfast." Then Morgan knew he was the one.
Some players seems able to overcome drops. Hope XL is one of them. Or he could end up as Gabe Davis, could be a very good wr but just to unreliable.

Panthers have both Jets and Jags away.
I guess the Germany game this season and Tottenham in 2019 probably make it unlikely, right?

If no Chargers db would touch the Texans wr that caught the last throw, could the time have run out?
Play wouldn't be dead? He could in theory have went up and continued? (Which he wouldn't have done).

According to Panthers.com the 7th rounder is from Cardinals.

The date is wrong, text have been updated. I'm not sure it's correct, but they should know best, right? Think the pick would be 230 then.
Edit____
Also, with 9 picks, gamble on a a QB falling with a 4th or 5th rounder shouldn't be off the table.

So... similiar to Josh Allens second year... what if BY also take off in his third year...
Or maybe he only need time as the new love boy of some in here, Sam Darnold.
Guess we now have to extend BY so he can be a top QB in 5 years from now.
Guess it takes 7 years just as Rhule predicted.

Y'all have completely moved the goalposts and lost sight of the point entirely. I did not bring up Allen nor did I say anything about that other than to respond to the ludicrous comment that was made.
My point was simply that franchise QBs find ways to win certain types of games, games where (as one example) poor defense needs to be overcome. That's not happening yet in Carolina and that is a big metric for being a 'franchise QB'. It really is that simple and all that was said.
My original comment for reference, in its entirety:
"We aren't winning because of him either. Gotta have that from a true franchise QB. Not every single game of course, but more often that not."
Cherry picking and now moving the goal post.

For the third time now, not every game will be a win. That is not the expectation. But in your cherry-picked example, let me know when Bryce has a day where he posts 400 total yards/4 TDs and 90% of the production as the sole driver of the offense, as Allen did, en route to that type of loss and my opinion will be different about said cherry-picked single game.
Can you point us to the game were Allen had 4td and 400 yards during his two first seasons.
You know, just to see if the cherry picking argument is being used fairly....

No he wasn’t. He had multiple good games after that Pittsburgh game but he had 45 TDs in 2015. He finished with 28 in 14 games in 2018.
That TJ Watt hit is glorified in here but his shoulder was already a problem. He had shoulder surgery after the 2016 season and he was added to the injury list the game before Pittsburgh. The hit didn’t help but Cam threw for 357 yards and 3 TDs the week after the “hit” and was 25 of 30 for 256 and 2 TDs the next week.
People will always remember it wrong because of that hit.
Cam was on the injury report 2-3 weeks before the Steelers game. Think it started before the Ravens game.
He should never had played the 2018 season.

I keep thinking we are going to draft a dude later in the draft in the mold of what DC wants/likes in a qb. And we are also going to probably sign a vet
As should be the case every draft unless you got a younger guy who got "it".
__________
The question is not if the team need to draft anither QB (and sit min. first year) but in which round you need to pick a pproject. You draft until you nail the pick.
If BY have more shaky games, a Qb in round 1-2 should be in talk.
If he put up similiar games as the last 3, pick a QB in 3-7 round.
If he plays as last 3 games but have one or a few great games, MAYBE not pick a QB, but I still think a late round QB should be picked because unless you have a franchise QB you don't really have a long term solution.

The same anecdotal talking point is floating around here but the official stats from Sweden and Norway + from insurance companies are very clear. EVs are significantly less likely to catch fire, it shouldn't be a concern at all.
Not sure the info is available in English on any trustworthy site, but the stats are so clear, I wont bother provide any translation or sources. This is not even worth talking about.

Horn is 201... there is zero chance Bryce is 204 lbs. I wouldn't put him an ounce over 190, closer to 185 or less in-season.
Horn is 6 1 and shredded. Also his legs and calf is on the leaner side when looking at this body type.
If Young is 5 10, then 200+ lbs is very plausible.
