Panthers will pick up Sam Darnold 5th year option
Proudiddy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't be mad at Sewell... it would shore up a position we have struggled with for almost a decade now. But, man... Pitts or Chase? I'm salivating. -
All this because Ron Rivera.
-
Picking up that 5th year means Teddy is either released or traded.
-
Okay, well whatever Kias that got recalled for blowing up on the highway, thats what we got.
-
We went shopping for a Rolls Royce and came back home in a Kia Sorrento.

Panthers will pick up Sam Darnold 5th year option
Proudiddy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So how far does that carry the contract through? -
Yikes. Didn't mind taking a flier on him even though I dont believe in him one bit... but that second rounder turned this deal to poo for me. Horrible.
-
If Wilson, Fields, and Lance are not an option, as badly as I wanted to avoid Darnold and don't necessarily believe in him, we would have to make that move for him or Minshew. And if we had to choose between watching another year of Teddy versus Darnold or Minshew, the latter is a million times better option.

That what makes this so bad this year. Tons of potential in those first 4 or 5 guys projected in the first, and then after that, it falls off of a cliff. No point in wasting a 2nd round pick, Hurney-style on a guy who will never contribute.
-
Only if they can simultaneously hire an in-house massage therapist who will willingly play with his butthole.
-
Damn we fuged up so bad. So, so bad.
-
Yeah, but those wasted years start adding up, and the cumulative effect is really taking its toll.
-
And to think, none of this desperation would even be a thing if they had just kept Cam another year instead of jettisoning him for a lesser QB who they paid more to singlehandedly lose 8 out of 11 games we had a chance to win. This is really bad.
-
Well, might want to save that phrase for next season as we're watching Teddy throw games away again.
-
God, this has went so bad, so fast.

And another thing... this offseason has quickly turned from chicken salad to chicken poo, quick, fast, and in a hurry over the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Hope that meaningless win against WFT was worth it.

No. I agree. Its a slippery slope, and a very difficult one to navigate. No doubt, men have run amuck on society and had their way with most everything for centuries, and as a result, a lot of women have suffered in silence. In an effort to quickly combat and beat back those centuries of toxicity, people and organizations have started to overcompensate for the sake of public relations and perception, so at the very least, when all is said and done, they look like they were standing on the right side of things, whether they believe in that side or not. So, on one hand, we should take any and all accusations as serious situations that deserve to be heard and fully investigated... but, on the other hand, it feels like far too often these accusations do their damage well before that investigation is done and the public image of the accused is irreparably damaged from the outset, regardless of what any discovery and investigation would find. And that's what sucks... many people know the power of the accusation is so damning, that they use it as a weapon, and they know if it turns out to be proven false, their goal is already achieved and they suffer no consequences for it. Again, any accusations of assault or abuse should be handled with the highest degree of care and consideration, but there also needs to be a balance... if the accusations are false, there needs to be consequences on the back end for the accuser, because the accused, who may be innocent, suffer consequences regardless.

Mike Silver: Panthers we attempting to sign TE Kyle Rudolph
Proudiddy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm glad we didn't. He is overrated. Great in-line blocker at this point, but very underwhelming as a receiving threat. -
Watson was obviously the #1 option in my mind, and the most exciting... but, according to Verge, and what common sense would dictate, that is out the window unless it comes to a swift resolution in revealing his innocence before the draft. I dont anticipate it will, and thus, I agree in moving on, and ultimately, although I was all in on Watson, the optimistic side of me is thankful we won't have to give up 3 or 4 first rounders plus possible young stars for our guy. For me, it's Lance or Fields. Period. If we have to move up, we have to move up - and I think we will have to move up.

Dammit. If the allegations are true, he needs to be prosecuted and punished to the fullest. If they are false, the accusers needs to be prosecuted and punished to the fullest, as well. And if they are false (which is what I'm leaning towards), no one can convince me that McNair wasn't behind this to keep Watson in Houston. The McNairs, by all accounts I have heard, are fairly despicable people... and honestly, most billionaires didn't get to where they are by playing nice. I know it isn't a popular opinion or take in this day and age, but it's just convenient timing and way too many questions (and anonymity) for me to believe these accusations at face value. If more compelling evidence is presented, I look forward to it, but to me, there is way too much grey area here so far and nothing but hearsay.

I've mostly just followed the bullet points and twitter statements to this point, but I will say Buzbee's "my mother was a bus driver, dad was a blah blah blah, I'm a Marine," crap kind of didn't sit well with me. It's like you telling your wife all of the things that make you a good husband before telling her you just smashed a stripper.
