Young should get no where near that. Hell, as of this moment he shouldn’t get any contract. The option is even debatable, but makes sense in some ways.

This isn’t a Darnold thing, sadly this is a Panthers thing. Worst record in the last decade in the NFL and still yet a winning season. Jets, same story. This is Tepper.
This is mainly a front office and by proxy, a coaching thing. Finding success with the worst in the league is very hard to do. There was a Browns player interview who basically said the franchise can kill players. Aikman said it too.
Darnold’s come back is very impressive and very rare. That is, if you’re a fan of the game and not a butthurt Panthers fan who only watches Panther games.
It’s sad the Panther’s franchise isn’t competent enough to capitalize on talent and at the same time established talent with options won’t even come here.

I think people are missing the difficult part of doing this and that is having a competent FO that has the skill/ability to draft and fill out a roster. This isn’t easy to do. The Steelers have that ability. A few teams do/did (49ers/Eagles). The Panthers absolutely have and do NOT.

Neither will win a SB. Their ceiling is mediocre QBs. The future for very young QBs is going to be players like Maye and Williams.

Yeah, there are some good ones available but they wouldn't want to come here. It would've been a repeat of the same situation that led to us hiring Canales which is basically that Tepper's wish list has to start where everyone else's ends. Too much meddling and I don't think any HC is signing up eith the perception of being tied to Bryce Young at QB.
Exactly. Desired coaches with options aren’t coming here, even for money. They want to win and be part of an organization that knows how to do that and will let them do their job. No HC wants to come in a butt heads with Tepper’s dumbass and his wife who have zero football knowledge giving input in the draft room lol. Players don’t either. We already found this out with coaches and players like Stafford.
Not sure why fans don’t see this, just because someone is available doesn’t mean anything. All these good coaches mean nothing to us.
This team’s success will rely on hitting on an unknown mixed with throwing poo against a wall waiting for something to stick. See last 10 years (of perpetual losing).

The best outcomes were
1. trade for the firsts
2. sign Burns
but our franchise chose
3. turn down first trade for peanuts, fire the person who was the voice of reason, promote the person who did not want option 1 or 2
successful franchises don’t do poo like this

I think most former players are cheerleaders to some extent for their team. The difference seems to come if they move into some sort of tv role. You rarely hear the Fox/CBS Sunday group talking about the teams they are associated with during broadcasts.
You have to be mindful a bit on Panthers reddit, because I am pretty sure there are fans that didn't know the team existed before Tepper and Young came into the picture.
Nah there aren’t many that became fans under Tepper lol. Or Young.
Now Cam on the other hand…I’d guess 90% of fans know nothing of the team before then.

The burden is to spin three years of data, not one game. And this one game does spin those three years.
He played well, no one will argue that. But losing your way into the playoffs doesn’t mean all that much.
Simply look at the QBs left in the playoffs. Yes they are hard to find but they’re not all anomalies. You have to find one of that caliber to win your way in and keep winning.
And in looking at three years of play, not just a game, Young is not that.

I'm sticking with Bryce is Alex smith. Good enough to get a team to the playoffs while you build the rest of the team then you drop your stud in there. We have to get lucky with a QB in the 3-5 round the next two years. You cannot pay a QB like Bryce 50 million a year. Ask Miami and Arizona
That blueprint only works for superior talent scouting FOs.

I get it honestly. Tepper wants to see this happen and keep trending in the right direction. If not, and there is significant regression, everyone gets wiped out all at once. I’d much prefer tha than having a few pieces holding on through another retool.
He has his primary pieces, the only maybe is bringing in a new offensive guy to help refine our approach on that side of the ball.
That’s just not how this works. Canales was strapped with him from the beginning. You have to let your HC picks their guys. This is exactly why guys with options don’t come here. This is meddling.
No worthwhile coach isn’t going to bring on their own staff. And Tepper has zero football knowledge, he should not be making/forcing the hires like that. It’s sad really.

The answer is always oline or dline, with the occasional exception of a WR, and rare exception of a QB, generally speaking of course.
I honestly don’t know if a pass rush non existent team like the 2025 panthers have ever made the postseasons before like they did.
Playoff teams have to have one, so I’d start there.

Big olineman and men in general don’t heal well. Maybe he can be the exception but I hope they don’t pay him like that’ll happen.

I was at the game and very drunk but the defense shat the bed on this one

Hope so. 70 degrees and rainy. I’m flying in from the west. Not expecting a win but I hope we can cause at least one false start.

lol yall are delusional, in demand coaches with options don’t come here and Tepper would never hire someone that is likely not going to want him involved

Eh I don’t see panthers winning and beating the Rams twice, Staffird averages like 300 yards and 3 tds a game, the INTs in the first game and against ATL were an anomaly. Hard to see young marching that for the second time in his three year career or whatever.

I’d like to know as well

Every year or two it’s the same conversation. Multiple coaches, players, personnel. Tepper is the constant. Worst record in the NFL since 2017 I believe.
If Tepper and his wife keep evaluating coaches and players we can expect the same. He has no experience he needs to hire help.
He also needs that help to hire a coach that will challenge his ego. Give control to the right person (not Rhule) aka like the Jags. He doesn’t know how to do this and isn’t at a point in asking for help.
We can only hope soon, but after a decade y'all should know until he does, nothing matters.

He's a dipshit. He has called dumb plays on crucial downs throughout the season.
Still leaning, I’ll give him benefit of the doubt with what he has to work with but Bryce after three year is painfully, very painfully obvious is not a nfl qb

Just get a qb, so many more plays we can run and see what Canales really is

Just let it go if you’re going to fair catch at the 6…

Will need some more INTs and fumbles to win this
