Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.

Bryce getting credit for putting out a house fire he started? No. Young is not a NFL QB. His ceiling is a back up. But I do agree with not benching him. Give him the season then move on.

Panthers podcast shuts down due to team’s poor performance
onmyown replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think anyone around here at this point is truly a fan (or masochist) and yet another disappointing season doesn’t matter. Where’s that converted Jets fan lol…wonder if this is worse or better. But I remember when this joint first started (third username) and it was much busier. Even when places like Reddit started taking over in place of forums. My newish girl didn’t have a NFL team but liked college football and loves watching. Last year I got Her a Panther shirt she wears on game days. She was excited. But I’ll be damned it’s near impossible to get anyone to be a fan of this team, she says now they just aren’t exciting despite still watching with me and wearing her shirt. Tepper is just pure poo. -
Luke knows what a poo pile Tepper is and has turned this franchise into, he wouldn’t do it.

I’ll eat my crow on this one, I did not like the pick. Still unknown long term but he is showing way more than I thought he would. Rookie WRs usually take time. Sadly it seems his potential/talent will be wasted here, poorly developed, or traded away.

Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

Under Richardson, the Panthers W/L record was just outside the bottom 1/3rd of the NFL. Not good. Records including the Super Bowl(s) were closest to….the Jets and Jaguars. Again, not good. Just because Tepper is ass, and mediocrity seems great now doesn’t mean it wasn’t JR’s time to go. Unfortunately, we just got stuck with a shitty owner who’d rather fail on his terms than win with help. He wants the credit.

I don’t understand this mindset, that’s just not how it works. At least with a rookie QB. Those changes take time. Much more than a year. And if you’re hoping for a worthwhile vet QB…that wants to play here and doesn’t decline like the others I’m not sure who that’ll be.

Don't do this to yourselves again folks

How long have you watched football? Or do you just watch the Panthers? You say you can’t want to post things like that leads me to believe you’re young. Those who have been around are know they’re witnessing history. The Panthers are about to go on a Lions/Browns streak as one of the worst teams in NFL history. In other words a lot of us won’t even be alive for you to gloat those posts. -
panthers offense 30 of 32 in yards per play
onmyown replied to fanpanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mark my words it’s only a matter of time before other teams take TM out of the game with attention/gameplan and the passing game is going to be bad if they don’t find an answer. If only we had a saavy vet that had great hands… -
Desirable QBs have options. Our franchise is too inept to draft one. What am I missing?

Here’s the thing I’ve been to games all over the country, Cowboy games, Redskins, Seahawks, Broncos, Cardinals, Jets, Vikings, Jaguars, San Fran…all NFC south Some of these franchises have solidified a die hard fan base and generations through strings of high level success. And were able to do so with a longer history. You just can’t compare. now some have not and those you can absolutely tell a difference. There are very very few that have that. Browns come to mind…chiefs didn’t have poo before their winning which will solidify a die hard fanbase when the franchise is so inconsistent, with virtually no history, and along periods of losing, this is what happens. Winning consistently will get you that fanbase smitty wants i don’t buys it’s the city bullshit

Smitty goes off on CLT on WFNZ

Charlotte isn’t Cleveland and he shouldn’t want that. Where people know their team is a joke and it’s a novelty to attend a game. It’s out of bordem. Being a Browns fan was a topic, not pride. Charlotte comes alive with results. Home games in 2015 and really most seasons with Cam, 2005 Cardinal playoff game where Delhomme shat the bed and melted down was one of the best games I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot, in a lot of cities. -
The refs gave use three. Or four…I forget.

While I wanted Stroud I was ok with the Young pick. I didn’t judge. Not even his first year. No knee jerk reactions. Allowed time to watch him learn. It’s into year three and it’s time. He sucks. It’s true this franchise sucks too obviously with other players AND coaches doing much better after leaving. Unfortunately it’s a severely dysfunctional franchise and the only thing that will save it is a true generational talent at QB that this inept FO actually lucks into picking or high priced elite vet if that is even possible who would come here over other places or Tepper selling or keeling over. Things that are just unlikely to happen. The Panthers are literally the new age Browns.
-
After the Rhule, Reich, and Canales disasters, the question becomes does Tepper finally seek help to hire someone? Another big issue is the Panthers will have to find a diamond in the rough, desirable coaches will and have turned down coming here. Don’t see that changing.

So, just what is it that makes a QB "elite"?
onmyown replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was more speaking to physical ability at a base level. Things like speed, muscle and weight can all be improved. Entirely possible, and likely, Murray has better genetics/build but even Murray has admitted to adjusting his training and playing style to fit his physical short comings (no pun intended). -
So, just what is it that makes a QB "elite"?
onmyown replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well we start with the basics, physical ability. Mayfield, Jones and especially Darnold all have that basic. Young does not. Not a total loss, Murray doesn’t either, but it’s one more thing to overcome. Next is mental or ‘celebral’. Awareness. Focus. Being able to read the defense. I don’t believe Young really has any of this either. He’s pretty predictable as a result. Throwing it away on 4th in the red zone for example. Next would be vision. I’d say Young has a little of this. He can be elusive. But he also looks clueless holding on to the ball as long as he does. Toughness is next. I’ll give him this one. He has it. So did Darnold. And Mayfield. He is somewhat resilient, but he will panic. Leadership and confidence seems to be lacking. Taking control. I don’t see it but these things are hard to judge sometimes. All in all I don’t see it. I think aside from being homers people around here only really watch the Panthers. In watching every game I can, even mid QBs look good in comparison. Kind of how Young looked at the end of last year, not elite but competitive. But lastly and over everything, Young has regressed quick and that is probably the biggest thing that separates elite QBs. -
Did you watch the game this week or last, he is double and even triple teamed, which should free up everyone else. The problem is almost everyone else is trash. And that’s exactly why other teams do this.
-
I actually can’t believe it…this team has actually found a way to regress
-
Um 7 years, multiple players coaches and GM…literally the worst team in the NFL. What is the constant? Tepper makes the hires, he is incompetent and doesn’t get help. Coaches won’t even entertain the idea coming here. Wake up.
-
Why is everyone focused on BY while the real problem is ignored
onmyown replied to cranky's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep, and there is just no fixing that, and not really anything to discuss about it. I think most know this, a few are under this delusion he isn’t at fault. It is what it is, and will be until he is gone. At some point you go through so many coaches, players, and drafts and there is one constant. -
Who cares, Tepper is still here, nothing will change.
