  1. Ty Simpson and Fernando Mendoza will be way out of reach for us in the draft and Dante Moore and LaNorris Sellers are gonna go back to school so our only hope for a 1st round QB is maybe John Mateer who still could go back to school.

The 2027 draft looks to be a really good QB draft so maybe a surprise Vet QB becomes available like a Trevor Lawarnce. Although his contract is pretty much untradable maybe Liam Cohen wants his pick at QB in 2027, so they chose to bottom out next year and build draft capital. I'm all the way out on Kyler Murray as I am sure this fan base is over the whole undersize QB thing.

Otherwise it looks like we have 3 options.

Option 1 is to bring in a floor raising vet like a Kirk Cousins or Mac Jones.

Option 2 is to bring in a younger boom or bust guy like a Will Levis, Malik Willis, Trey Lance, or Sam Howell.

Option 3 is to run it back with year 4 Bryce young

Regardless of what option we pick I still think our plan will be to pick a QB in the first round of 2027. Canales deserves the chance to pick his own QB as I think he's done a good job getting this team to where they are despite being handcuffed by Bryce's physical limitations.

  2. IR Bryce with a "high ankle sprain" and let Andy close out the year. We've learned all we need to know from Bryce this year. He's not the guy moving forward and I don't wanna risk him having a tiny breakout like he did to close out last year.

  3. With how badly Bryce has been playing I don't think even Canales knows what plays he can safely call. I don't think it's by choice he's being so conservative but he's trying to call the game in a way where we at least won't be blown out and can try to steal the win in the 4th.

Every time he tries to open the playbook Bryce takes a sack while looking for a passing lane to see the open WR or Bryce turns the football over.

Canales regressed as a play caller. He was actually pretty good the second half of last year and now anything that isn’t scripted is just ass.

Canales is limited from using 3/4 of his playbook with Bryce at QB. That big play sheet he has on the sideline is just for show. There are probably only enough plays to fit on a sticky note that he's confident in Bryce in.

  5. This is what happens when you go against a defense that watches Bryce's NFL film and not his college stuff.

Any decent NFL DC can watch our offense and instantly know that Bryce is physically unable to threaten them deep.

Bryce can't throw in rhythm from the pocket in the NFL he physically can't do it. All of his throws are either slants, outs, screens, or passes down the field from broken plays. We have XL running deep routes doing glorified cardio training cause both teams know there's no way the ball will go to him.

  6. Bryce has the clutch gene no one can argue that. The problem is that we wouldn't be in half of these situations if Bryce was throwing for more than 120 yards a game.

I like Bryce and I hope he can figure it out, but you can't consistently win high level NFL games throwing for less than 200 yards. I thought he turned the corner last year after his benching as it looked like he and Dave had the confidence in each other to throw the ball down the field. I don't know where that has been this year, but it seems they've forced Bryce into a checkdown game manager. It's leading to wins so that's a good thing but when push comes to shove late in the year when things get down, we really need to open up the playbook and let Bryce sink or swim and prove he's the guy going forward.

  7. The Saints are going to be without 3 starting Offensive Linemen. Derrick Brown and the rest of the Dline are going to dominate up front and hold the Saints offense in check and force their rookie QB into a mistake or 2. I do however think our offense struggles more than expected as the Saints do have a decent run defense. We look like the better team the whole day, but our offense struggles and that keeps the final score looking closer than it should feel. Something like 13 - 3 or 17-6.

  8. Derek Carr coming out of his 1-year retirement is my Darkhorse candidate.

Although I feel like a move for a QB worth anything is highly unlikely as Bryce is well liked and viewed as the teams unquestioned starter by his teammates.

We will probably see Mike White resigned and another JAG veteran backup brought in the replace Andy Dalton.

  9. Tampa's next 4 games are against the Pats, Bills, Rams and Cardinals. It's very likely that they could lose 2 or 3 games through that stretch.

If we can win the next 2 games versus the Saints and Falcons and split between the 49ers and Rams, we will have a real shot at winning this division.
