  1. If Dalton is healthy I would bet he plays 1-2 quarters and Luton gets the rest.
  2. "No decision"... We all know he's not playing lol
  3. In the offseason of 2012, the Seahawks went out and gave Matt Flynn a huge bag. He was supposed to be the starter. They overpaid him, and he was already penciled in as the dude. But they took a QB in the 3rd round because they liked him. Independent of the signing they had just made. Russell Wilson played so much better than Matt Flynn in the preaseason, that nobody even knows who the hell that guy is today. That's how you run a football team. You keep looking until you find the guy. If you're not sure, then you haven't found him.
  4. The season is less than a month away. If we can't throw the ball down the field, it's gonna be a complete disaster. Imagine last year, but now everyone has a year of film our QB. A more realistic progression would be a sophomore slump. That's the unfortunate reality we are facing. It's just become pretty glaring to me why they didn't bring in anyone else. There would be a literal mutiny.
  5. They also play these games that don't count before the season starts. A lot teams use them for this type of thing, but I've been told otherwise by Panther fans.
  6. Yeah teams don't just cut rookie QBs they drafted that play well in preseason. That would be really surprising. I didn't like Rattler in college, but I would been in support of taking him in the 5th or later for sure.
  7. Its straight up not fair that our divisional opponents get to play our offense twice.
  8. Well when there's been rumblings out of camp that Plummer and Luton have noticeably more zip on the ball than our QB1.. its not good. Any QB that's gonna make an NFL roster would have stirred the pot. It seems deliberate to me, but I'll just sit over here with my tinfoil hat and my bowl of popcorn.
  9. I think there's a real possibility of that being the case. I just hope Canales can learn from his mistakes. I expect a lot of them from a first time HC.
  10. I think the most surprising thing is that 53 of these players will make the team. The bottom half has been churned, but good lord is it ugly.
  11. Its not about motivating Bryce. Its about taking another shot on a QB in parallel. If he gets motivated by that and plays better, that's great. But we're trying to figure out the long term future of the position here. I don't think anyone would debate that about this season.
  12. A 1st time HC who is also the play caller is going to redefine what preseason means, or this is a mistake. I'll go with Occam's razor here.
  13. There's a difference in using a pick in rounds 5-7. Everyone there is a statistical outlier. We haven't gotten a solid contributor since AJ Klein in 2013. The opportunity cost here is minuscule.
  14. Most guys are a long shot there regardless of position. Our own Jake Delhomme was UDFA. You just never know. They don't all have to be Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys. Cam was probably the closest we'll ever sniff to something like that. But at this point I would settle for a playoff QB.
  15. I agree. Andy is the ideal backup, and he's cemented at QB2. I'm making the assumption that if they drafted a guy in the 5th or later, they would carry him as QB3. My point is just that they've created a situation deliberately where Bryce is the only guy. It's his show for better or worse. It's really questionable when you see teams investing so much in QBs in the draft, yet still taking a shot on another one in the later rounds. That's how important it is to hit on a QB. It doesn't matter if you traded the farm for the pick, or you took a guy in the 6th or 7th round. If it hits, it hits. And until it does, there's no sense in passing on taking one. We haven't solved the QB position, but it seems like we're not open to even taking a flier on one until they've moved on from Bryce. That's questionable management to me. It's either negligence or they've deliberately created this situation. And just based off the smell of everything so far, it seems like its deliberate to me. Yeah that is speculation, but that's what I enjoy doing lol.
  16. Yes people wanted to see Dalton play, but he's going to be 37 and was brought in with Bryce to basically be his coach. For example, let's say we drafted Joe Milton and he made those plays in a Panther uniform last week. That's a different situation. Nobody thinks Dalton is the answer. He hasn't gone into the season as the intended starter in 5 years. People just want the best QB on the roster to start. And if that guy is 20 something years old and has showed potential? The pressure from both the locker room and the fans is going to be a lot greater.
  17. They aren't going to bring in anyone that's going to challenge Bryce, because it would cause problems. Nobody is going to root for the backup to enter the game when its Jack Plummer. Neither the fans or players.
  18. Most good players won’t make good GMs. That’s just how it goes. John Lynch is kind of the exception, and not the rule.
  19. My favorite thing about the point guard analogy is it doesn't even make sense in reality. Nobody in the NBA has ever won with such a strategy. Yeah, just get a really good point guard and then you don't need as good of a team. No. Nobody wins with their best player being the point guard. Maybe except Golden State. But Steph isn't exactly a distributor.
  20. I think Tepper had already made his mind up that he wanted an offensive coach. He never intended for Wilks to have a real shot. He just couldn’t stand having Rhule employed for another second. Firing Rhule, trading CMC and giving the job to Wilks were Teppers attempts to tank. It was the best the team has looked under his ownership.
  21. I don't know why people complain about Eddie. Sure he doesn't have a booming leg for a 57 yard field goal. But he's pretty damn consistent within his range. It's rare to find a kicker with that kind of accuracy and a booming leg. That's basically a HOF kicker. Sure he did have a bad game in Atlanta, but most kickers do have one every now and again.
