If Matt Rhule is the coach next season, I will…
PNW_PantherMan replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Completely disagree. I've been following this team since I was a kid in the 90s. This is the worst stretch of Panthers football ever. We're moving into joke territory like where the Lions live. We've always at least been mediocre. JR was never the best owner, but he was also never the worst. He promised us a Super Bowl win in 10 years, and did everything he could to make that happen. Sure, being a Panther fan has had its fair share of disappointment. But this is a completely different feeling entirely. This franchise is rapidly approaching hopelessness. -
If Tepper gives Rhule a 3rd season he is a lousy owner. I don't care how rich he is. He has no idea how to run a football team. If he had any brains, he'd get out of the way and let football people run the team.

Anyone still trust Tepper at this point?

Sounds like Jerry Jones. -
For the record I'm down for taking the generational center with our pick. The middle of our line is awful, and Paradis and Elflein both suck. Protecting the QBs blindside is valuable, but the center is basically the QB of the offensive line. Either that or the best LT we can get.

Who cares if a guy is a "reach" for a couple picks. We're talking about taking a guy at 5 instead of 8 or something. Just take the player you want and move on IMO. No need to get cute. A reach is when you take a 3rd round prospect in the top of the 2nd or something.

Matt Rhule says Darnold will start Sunday
PNW_PantherMan replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam isn't the only QB to enter the NFL that had more physical potential than Tom Brady. Nobody has outdone him, or even come close. I don't think that's a very fair standard. Cam didn't receive the coaching that Tom Brady did, or have the same kind of support via commitment to the offensive line. It's just two completely different situations. Cam poured his heart and soul out for this franchise, and he didn't have to do that. He did everything Jerry Richardson asked as far as appearance etc, sacrificed his body on the field for the team, and has been incredibly generous in the local community. He could have said fug it after his rookie deal and walked to a big market team, but he wanted to be here. Sure he's pretty much washed up now, but that's just an unfair level of expectation. Julius Peppers had the potential to surpass Lawrence Taylor's dominance on the field, but he didn't. He still had an amazing career though, and he was a great player. I get where you're coming from, but you gotta appreciate the great players that have put on the Panther uniform. We don't have much else tbh. -
I thought it would take at least 2 seasons before people started talking about him as a HC again. You guys are crazy. He's done a great job in Dallas but their roster is stacked. Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons are insane players.
-
Doubtful. Jameis Winston has shown way more in his NFL career, and Payton couldn't save him. He's a football coach, not a miracle worker. Darnold can't read the field. He would need to spend 2-3 seasons in study hall as a backup before he had a chance to succeed IMO. And you don't trade for an expiring contract to pick that kind of player up. They might scoop him up for nothing after we dump him though.
-
Yea I just wouldn’t put anything past Payton. He might have Kevin James coach the team this week to film the sequel of that stupid movie.

We won't need to field a defense if the Saints start Ian Book.

What would your reaction be if we beat the Saints
PNW_PantherMan replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree that the win was meaningless, but last year's draft is interesting. Even though we screwed it up by winning that game, we still had Justin Fields, Mac Jones, and Rashawn Slater on the board when we picked. I'm not high on Fields or Jones, but they're probably at least on par with any of the prospects in this years draft. And the LT was sitting right there, but short arms and all that. -

I don't know if you guys watched that game the other night, but we have a real shot if Ian Book plays. They did also sign Blake Bortles, though. I'd expect him to get some playing time this week if Hill and that other dude can't go. Could be a 6-3 type game. -

I think the Giants planned on hiring Rhule until Tepper stepped in and offered him more money and control than anyone else would. They panicked and hired Joe Judge, which felt like a joke of a hire at the time. Then that joke of a hire went onto blow out the Panthers without most of their key players. In a game that was supposed to be a "get right" game for us, too. I was done with Matt Rhule after that. If Tepper is still sold on Matt Rhule, we are fugged. -

I don't care who the next coach is, as long as Tepper isn't the one making the hiring decision. -
Agree completely. Reddick should honestly go sign with a playoff team. He's the type of player that can be a final piece to a Super Bowl defense.

I mean why not. Our offense is basically surrendering with extra steps.

Could this team beat the 2001 or 2010 teams?

I watched every game of the 2001 season and that team was in most games. Not the most talented bunch, and coached by a reanimated corpse, but they played hard just about every week. 2010 vs this year is a push for me. -
Robby Anderson: “We don’t want no fake fans”
PNW_PantherMan replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s a joke about Robby because the guy is an idiot. Why do you always miss the point and try to make something out of nothing? -
I think the line would look a lot better with a good C and LG. We need someone solid at C that is good at making the protection adjustment calls. If we had a good LG next to him, it would help support our LT. Then we only need to find one JAG to play RG. Maybe Deonte Brown would be serviceable?
