Little disappointing but not surprising considering our draft history. Just numbers wise you’d expect to 8+ picks per team and one of our 4 never played for us.
Not all the teams existed for the entire history of the draft, so you wouldn't really expect it to be even. Aside from the fact that exact draft slot is pretty trivial, so there's going to be tons of snubs on picks with lots of candidates.

This is some deep draft trivia. No idea what picks have had HOF'ers and which haven't.

I think its Jarvis Stankoven is even smaller than Jarvy and isnt as good defensively. Ive wanted Jarvis at center for a while... I think hes PPG easy at C and probably a Selke winner at that
Yea i kinda like stank as a winger because he’s tiny.

They almost traded him and the Dallas first at the trade deadline for Boeser.
Point stands though. Tough to sell another team on the idea of KK through 29-30 season. And then ask for them to give you something for the privilege? I think if he can be moved, he will be. Seems like Rod is done with him.

I wouldn't even say KK has been a bust, he was signed to be the 3rd center to replace Staal with potential to be the 2nd center. Staal didn't retire so it forced KK to the 2nd line where he shouldn't be. He's fine as a 3rd line guy.
If he’s fine as a 3rd line guy he would be easy to trade. Nobody wants him lol.

I think Miller fits our D-core better than he did with the Rangers. I think Gleason and our system will make him better.
He's another player that the organization thinks they can fix. Sometimes it doesn't work out (KK), but Miller's flaws seem fixable.

Well I'm happy with Ehlers, and I'm cautiously optimistic about Miller improving under RBA. I know we're probably not done, but I'm glad we aren't just running it back.

Orlov got a two year deal with San Jose worth 6.5m AAV.
Do they have to spend money to hit the salary floor or something?
-
Big news! Does he know he's playing for Rod?

Brent Burns signed with Colorado with a one year deal.
Good luck to him. But Im ok with this. He’s not worthless but it’s time to move on.

Ehlers will help but we desperately need a 2C and to be honest we need to move on from Ghost. Slavin can carry someone like EK but Walker isn’t good enough to carry Ghost.
I’d like:
Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis
Svechnikov - 2C - Stankoven
Carrier - Staal - Martinook
Hall - Jankowski - Blake
Slavin - Karlsson
Miller - Chatfield
Nikishin - Walker
Yea Ghost was really disappointing last year

His contract wouldn't be bad if Staal had retired like everyone thought he was going to do and KK was on the third line where he's supposed to be.
He'd have been more valuable in that scenario, but I'd rather have someone else.

Maybe hope for more than 1 win finals lol
KK is what happens when these contracts don’t pan out. Not terrible but hard to move.

He leans goon/enforcer, which we haven't had in a minute. I do like that.
Yea absolutely. I was mostly referring to locking him in for 8 years.

Not sure how to feel about KAndre Miller. Could be a great signing but it could also be pretty bad. I like that he’s only 25. I assumed he was older because he’s been around for years now.

It's a heavy conditional first with protections and a second with Morrow. Morrow was getting traded no matter what because his organizational value has plummeted recently.
It’s not a secret when you get undressed in the conference championship. Every front office is aware of how bad he was.

Apparently the organization wasn't high on Morrow anymore because of defensive issues that showed up in the playoffs.
Everyone here wanted to ship him off after that lol

We got screwed by the cap going up too much. Our main attraction was money. But the cap going up more than expected means everyone has money.
Front office has to lean into winning now and can’t afford to wait multiple offseasons hoping someone like mcdavid will sign
I’m prepared to be whelmed

Hence the rod problem also better offensive guys aren't interested in that, what are you talking about both of those things you listed are due to rod.....
Rod is one of the attractions to the Hurricanes believe it or not. We all know Raleigh is a great town, but let's be honest. 90% of NHL'ers don't even know where North Carolina is on a map before they reach the pros.
How many of the stars we're missing out on are winning Stanley Cups elsewhere?

Newton probably didn't proofread what ChatGPT generated for him lol

Smith-Wade, CB/S/Nickel/DT
A DT that can play any position in the secondary will be useful.

Yea same but its tough out there. Everybody uses their backup a significant amount now, so there's not enough good goalies to go around. Either that or the pad size adjustments made most goalies not that good.
