Has there been any credible rumors that Luck is looking to return?
nope and the last pic of Luck I saw he looks like he has lost a lot of weight and muscle. Not surprising

Carr checks a lot of the boxes that Rhule/Fitterer have said they look for in a QB.
Here’s a good article with a video included for those that can’t read...
It wouldn’t be the sexy acquisition most were hoping for that’s for sure
offer a 2nd then draft a LT at 8 or trade down

Fwiw I went back and read several 2017 mock drafts from major outlets, and nearly every one had Mitch as the first QB going off the board, followed by Watson and then Mahomes falling into the 20s. Walter football even said many teams had a second round grade on Mahomes. The consensus was Mahomes would need a few years to sit on the bench to learn the game. Well a few years later and Mahomes is vying for his second MVP and second Super Bowl.
All that to say, no one knows who the hell is going to be the best QB in this class and it very may damn well be Trey Lance.
Sortof yeah https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2017/5/3/15517982/mock-draft-nfl-2017-results

If we had to choose between the two prospects I would agree. I do agree with what others are saying as far as being a bit jittery in the pocket at times. Mahomes was like that in college as well. Bailed the pocket unnecessarily.
anyone saying Wilson is Mitch or clausen(?!? Lol) I just don’t know what they’re watching.
Yeah. I am really digging Wilson now but will be happy staying at 8 and getting lance. I still think there is an outside chance we have a choice of 2/3 of the top 4. Lots of moving parts.

Wilson does like those "off platform" throws like Mahomes does. He leans gunslinger like Mahomes too.
Wilson actually reminds me a little of Baker Mayfield. Which, Baker is basically a poor man's Mahomes. He's the version that doesn't have elite attributes at every skill.
I think if the Jets pass on a qb or go Fields than Miami will probably be game to drop back to 8 provided we give up a second or even a first from next year. I pray we keep our 2nd this year to get a top iol, center or maybe a LT that slips a bit.

I am a huge Lance fan but he does not have the arm talent that Mahomes has. The best comp I’ve seen is McNair or Mcnabb. He has that windmill throwing style.
and Wilson is like Trubinksy? No lol
Wilson is more like mahomes. He can throw with pin point accuracy from a lot of angles.

What if the Raiders offered #17 and Carr for #8?
Pick up a quarterback and a pick.
I wouldn’t be mad about coming out of the first round with Carr and Surtain or a starting OT.
that makes literally no sense for them

Yeah stick with Teddy because we are not getting a good qb in the draft, probably have a chance at 5th option. No thanks
Starting teddy this year was always the plan, having a rookie qb sit and learn was the plan. We will have options at 8. All 4 qb's will not be gone. I suspect we will have a choice of 2 of the 4.
Our roster is not strong enough to deal away picks

That got me, too. There's something there, but it's going to take a lot of practice and polish to make him into something great. He'd be perfect to spend a year behind someone like Brees, Brady, Roethlisberger or Alex Smith.
you cannot fix his level of inconsistency

From what I understand McClain is pretty connected with the Texans. I doubt he came up with the numbers by himself, someone is probably whispering in his ear.Ive said all along it will probably take at least a combination of “5” for Watson. Three 1st and 2 players, 4 1st and a player maybe they take two seconds instead of one of the first like McClain is saying. Maybe they count the #2 overall pick of the Jets as multiple 1st.
Either way, all of you holding out this idea that Watson and his so called leverage is going to make trading for him cheaper need to give up on that idea.
I do find it interesting that they are looking for young players also, minimizes the risk of them missing on all of the draft picks.
That does help us though, we definitely have decent young players, especially on defense that we could include in a trade.
Based on this tweet the starting point for the Panthers would be something like two 1st, 2 2nds, and Burns and Brown or Chinn.
How many people would be happy with that?
good luck with that texans

We are going to draft one of five QBs, not four, and Jones could be the guy. We are not leaving the first round without a QB---
I see us moving up with NYJ, Miami, or Cincinnati, depending on who we want.
We are going to be aggressive, and sitting on #8 is not aggressive.
Call me crazy but if we are aggressive I would much rather keep out pick in the 2nd this year for oline help and trade away the #1 for next draft. I just think its imperative we infuse the oline with talent this season and there will be a ton of iol and centers for the taking that high and maybe a LT falls. I think we probably will be looking a an 8ish win team next season even if teddy starts a chunk of games

You do if you think you won't have a shot at the top 2 pick next year or you think it's a weak QB class. Coaches don't have 4 years to wait for something to pan out. If they like Lance, take him at 7, let him sit a year and compete with Goff in 2022. After 2022 Goff is gone and you have a seasoned starter, not a fresh rookie in your 3rd season as HC. And with 2 extra firsts they can afford a luxury QB pick if they think he's the future.
It might not make a whole lot of sense in terms of draft capital, but the picture is bigger than that. Year 3 the HC and GM could already be on the hot seat. This is about more than just draft picks. HC and GM have to think about their futures as well.
Dude nobody is going to draft a qb at 7 and sit him for two years especially when you just acquired a former #1 pick that you owe close to 50 million for. That is insanely stupid. They may trade the pick but they sure as hell are not taking a qb. You are basically wasting the precious rookie contract. It makes literally no sense.

Martellus Bennett dropping truth bombs
in Carolina Panthers

I played football through my junior year in high school. I was injured for my senior season. My brother played through high school and walked on for a d1 school and played two years. That said I have 2 boys and there is no way in hell I would ever in a million years let them play tackle football. My shoulders to this day are completely shot as is my right ankle and lower back. Most days I can navigate around the minor pulls and pains but when the left shoulder flairs up I know its going to be a long day. Thank god I never hurt my knees. My brother however broke his ankle during football and has some major back issues to the point he cannot exercise to lose weight creating a whole separate dilemma. Its just not worth it and that is even before considering the affects of your brain getting jarred around.
That said if guys know the drill going into it then let them play and I will gladly watch but my kids aint playing under any scenario.
edit to say I played wr and corner. I got literally knocked out going over the middle one day in practice and my brother was a guard.
