Ive always liked Stafford and thought he drew a poo hand going to Detroit but Id say that SB season was the aberration.
But nitpicking aside - I just want the team to be on the playoff projection in November. After what weve been through, Ill take a season or two of not being irrelevant in early November.
Hes been an elite passer his entire career, just on a poo det org. Would always be a "what if" if he actually came here.
I dont recall the timeline but Stafford seems like the proto type qb that Joe Brady wanted to work with. A gunslinger that took chances unlike Teddy.

Not really, anyone who follows the ringer nfl knows what type of “analyst” Ruiz is.
I mean if you listened to the podcast you would see its not blind "hate" they kindof back up their opinions and Ruiz is a panther fan by choice so theres that

Would you really put Foles or Stafford on the elite list? They are(were) good, but elite? Throw in some guys who got there and lost and its a respectable list of QBs not named Brady and Mahommes
Foles would be the aberation and yes Stafford is/was elite. His stats in the 2021 season kindof proves it. 4888 yards, 41 tds, 9 in the playoffs with a 70% completion. Yeah thats next level

How does he still have a job? We all know this is not the first time he has done this
There was a time about 20 years ago when he wasnt considered a joke. He was always one of the better guests on Primetime with packman. Since then who the fug knows what happened to him. Its like he got concussed or something because he has clearly lost his mind

I consider last year Bryce's rookie year.....and I expect some regression/D adjustment in his second season in Canales' O. Film is film. So yeah, I agree....he won't be the dude that opened up the year week 1 or closed the door week 17. We will get some dude in between it all most likely. Which IMO puts us in a really awkward no man's land with Bryce.
Ive said all offseason I truly think by week 5 we know what we have in bryce, DC and this team in general. If we cannot get at least 2 wins in the first 4 weeks then oh boy it may be another long one

Ruiz is a known Bryce hater, and I despise using that word. He didn’t like Bryce as a prospect and he will die on that hill.

Its really wild to watch this part of the community boil down the success of the 2025 Panthers to whether or not BY9 busts or breaks out.
Ill take middle of the road mistake free game manager that distributes the ball and orchestrates the offense. If we can get that with a D that doesnt put us in a 27 point+ hole every week the team can improve.
Id love a deep post season run but honestly at this point Id be ecstatic about feeling like we could win every week.
Jake is never going to get a yellow jacket but damn if he didnt make watching the team fun.
eta: I think too many people are looking for an I told you so moment over their pre-draft "evaluation" of Bryce
I dont think "game managers" make playoff runs in the modern nfl. And looking across the league I dont see many winning their division. You need elite qb play. Can bryce do it, sure maybe, has he done it, maybe in spurts so this year we shall see.
***and I guess its all relative to how you quantify the term "game manager" which to date he most certainly be.

I think this puts Moore on the outside looking in / it comes down to Special Teams for me.
McMillan
Thielen
Legette
Coker
Renfrow
Horn (pending how they think he looks as our KR/PR)
I guess in theory they could IR horn just to see how the season starts with moore

Moore. Worst YAC per reception in the entire NFL paired w/ a high drop % last year. Or you practice squad Horn who is probably getting too big of a bump given. 6th round WRs generally aren't year 1 roster guys opening up the season.
I was thinking horn as well simply because moore plays on ST and reasonably well. Would love to stash horn. I really think Bryce needs a wr like him but he needs to develop obviously

Hunter Renfrow is making this team.
That is all.
Panthers WR Theilen on Renfrow (AKA best route runner on the roster)
“He runs great choice routes. He finds space really well, great body control. Things that aren’t necessarily my strongest suit. I’ve made it work over the years. But he’s really good at them,” Thielen said. “So it’s been fun to see him in person. Obviously, I’ve seen him on tape. But you see it firsthand, you try to pick some things from what he does.”
Panthers S Moehrig on Renfrow
“That dude is a joystick, man,” Moehrig said. “He’s just so crafty at the way he runs routes, the way he moves. He’s just a true, all-around route runner. Can get in and out of his breaks, super quick and is just super deceptive. Off the field, he’s a great guy, really helpful. That’s Hunter for you.”
Huddle poster CRA on Renfrow
He's half man, half god, half possible centaur.
*disclaimer, do not bet on the NFL or anything I say. The NFL is crazy and so am I.
whos the odd man odd then? Assuming we carry 6

Everything on all sides has been said a thousand times over and engaging with you about it in the past was more pointless than shouting into the wind. I’m good.
nah, these dudes examine it a bit different, again feel free to listen and dispute what they say. They have some good metrics and analysis both ways.

Incredible listen breaking down the South. In short nobody really got all that much better.
They delve into bryces play and go deep into his pff stats and overall ranking. In short, not good.
They talk about his 5th year option and beyond. Interesting listen. The South should be wide open though

Funny how some of the loudest voices now "cautioning optimism" were the same ones spending all last offseason trying to smother any hope or support...
Weren't they inevitably correct? Odd take on trying to dunk on someone?

Vegas only has 5 teams with a lower over/under than the Panthers in 2025.
Browns, Saints, Jets, Titans and Giants. Then us.
Jets and Browns will be better then us. The others nah. So that's pretty close

Win some games. Then you can talk. But this just rings hollow when we've done nothing but lose since Tepper bought the team.
This. Just win 8 games this year. Just 8. All they hype, all the branding, all the videos, at this point they all are pointless as we have been the worst franchise in recent memory. Just win.

The ONLY thing Chark was better at during his peak than T-Mac is right now, is that he was an actual burner.
T-Mac has better hands, more fluid and agile, better catch radius, better route runner.
It's not about stats but short of literally having the video at my disposal (and know how) to cut clips together to compare them, it's just the quickest/easiest way to do it because they's so absurdly polar opposites in output.
And again, this has absolutely nothing to do with T-Mac, it's 100% about just being realistic with who Chark was as a player. I genuinely don't understand why people seem to think Chark was some all world player at any point in his career, he was never anything more than a league average player who had one decent statistical season as the only decent WR option on the team that year.
I'd have said the exact same thing last year about MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, and BTJ vs Chark too.
dude..........
You are way to emotional here

What?!?!?!
Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR. Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room?
T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
Ive watched the nfl long enough to know nothing is for certain and for you to say this is pretty fuging wild. You have no clue how he is going to perform in the nfl

Good post. Definitely appeared to me as it was based on past performance and I was ok with that. His tone seemed to be bullish as well but the team ended up at 28 as a starting point. I personally don’t think they finish here but in my mind this is the right realm for preseason rankings. I think the team has a lot to prove. How fast can the rookies get up to speed, can the 2nd year players make the jump (coaching, player development), can DB come back to form from the injury, etc…
The nfl gave us a nice schedule for the first 4 games. So hopefully we take advantage of it.

Breakout 2025 Candidates
in Carolina Panthers
Posted · Edited by mrcompletely11
1, Sanders absolutely is going to blow up, period end of story. I would bet just about anything on that.
2. Wallace looked completely lost at times and his instincts didnt look fluid. Could he break out, sure but I think he is more of a player that gets marginally better season after season not just turn into a full blown stud in year 2. IE Shaq T
3. Mayes is who he is, a grinder that seems to handle whatever position he plays with functionality. He will probably never be elite and he probably will never out right suck. Just more consistent and decent/solid play. remember he was straight cut after last years training camp so something was going on between him and the staff
