Nice! Good for him! Rooting for him to do well there!

It's a little bit of both TBH. Shannahan didn't utilize their best offensive weapon as well as he should have. We all know McCaffery can make things happen, 8 touches could change that game. You do have to credit KCs D, they were doing a very good job limiting any big plays from CMC. I think it has also been shown that Shannahan makes QBs look better then they are. Matt Ryan and Jimmy G also looked amazing when the game plan was rolling along. They also all fell a part when it wasn't so that can't be pure coincidence.

Mahomes is currently in the Super Bowl.
Read the whole post dofus I addressed Mahomes. Do we have a Kelce? Pacheco? We don't even have someone as good as MVS. Our Oline is in a different league of terrible. Did we have any coaches even half as competent as Reid? Let's not even talk about defense.

Cam Newton for much of 2014.
Did you read the whole thing? I literally addressed Cam in the post.

Too many resources will need to be dedicated to make him look competent. In doing so, other needs on the team will only be addressed with mid to lower tier players and we’ll be a .500 team at best until a change is made. He’s the complete opposite of what this team needed.
Such a hilarious take. Can you name a QB recently that has taken a trash offensive line with no real WRs and made them work? All QBs need these pieces in place to work. Closest you can get now is Mahomes and even then he has talent around him PLUS coaching and before that it was Cam and we all saw how that turned out, he still couldn't take this team to consistency by himself. He also did it with a skillset most QBs do not posses. Lamar had a bad OC and no real WRs until now. A QB can make his team better by getting rid of the ball quickly to help negate pressure, which is tough for any rookie QB to do unless you craft the offense around him having limited reads. That DID NOT happen here, the offense game plan was trash and we all saw that. They can help make WRs/TE look better by being accurate and getting them the ball when they win a match up. The only person consistently winning match ups on offense was Thielen and he had like 100 catches and 1000 yards.

things said last offseason for 200 Alex
how that wasn't addressed last offseason continues to be mindboggling. A relatively cheap element to a committee. Fitterer didn't do it. Overpaid an early down runner who Philly told us sucked in the pass game.
2 things. 1 they probably didn't think he or the offense was going to be this bad. I think anyone would have thought he would have at least been "serviceable" at his worst. We got way worse then that, he was flat out awful. 2 I bet Staley had a lot to do with him coming in as well, Sanders was his guy and I don't think Fitt or Reich had the balls to say no.

The scheme we are probably going to run definitely isnt a power run. It will actually focus on passing to rb a lot if its anything like they did in TB. We will probably draft a pass catching rb in the mid to later rounds.
I 100% agree. I think Sanders showed nothing and we don't have a guy on the roster who can catch like that. It seems like it is integral to the offense.

Could be dope to have him there to be a team mentor or something like that. I would hope TDs name still carries some weight in that locker room.

In 3-4 probably looking at DTs unless talking about an edge that can play outside LB
Good point, I forgot scheme. I guess in general I mean pass rusher. We need someone to double up with Burns. Haynes has potential but his injury this year set him back so its still up in there air if he lives up to it.

I know he mentioned elsewhere that 1st priority if effort and that is what they are going to judge everyone off of. So I don't think there will be any phoning in practices/reps.

Sorry man, but at this point nothing will incite hype until it actually shows up on the field. Talk is cheap and there's been no shortage of hollow drivel for the better part of a decade now.
Eh, not for me. The moment I stop having fun with the Panthers all together is when I'm done being a fan. I was almost there the 2nd half of this season but the firing and hiring has me back on board for better days. Fun part of the year, new coach hype, draft hype, FA hype. It will sustain me until the dog days of summer. Its just for fun, I don't NEED the Panthers to do anything. I got other parts of my life I can control.

Brad Idzik on Dave Canales as a play caller
This should get people hype too. Sounds like Canales has a lot of respect for his abilities as a play caller, at least situationally. I like that Idzik put names to it.

Great news if he wants to be here! The defense should hopefully get better just by injured players returning and maybe an addition along the line. If the defense stays solid and in the same scheme they can focus more on retooling the offense.
-
Also you can tell by how he answered he has a lot of respect for our defense. Would be nice to keep Evero ( if he wants in ) to keep building there. Another way to take pressure off the offense while it retools.
-
Like what I'm hearing. Working on crafting an offense around players, particularly Bryce, strengths sounds like something we have NEVER done in Carolina. Maybe year 1 with Chudzinski?
Heard this a lot from his Bucs pressers too. Its about making an offense that is only as complicated as the team can execute and adding wrinkles from there. It should be easy for the QB to understand and communicate. Definitely see the McVay influences there. Personally I think Bryce is going to thrive.

As someone not very versed in college ball are there any good early 2nd round DE prospects? IMO another area of big need along WR, OL.
-
The last thing we need to a split in the locker room. If he doesn't want to be here you have to let him go.

Exactly. Sanders already fills the role of 3rd down back. Blackshear may not be back, btw. Chuba is a solid backup who is a nice change of pace player. I want a pound-the-rock type of back. That way we have the gambit covered on RBs between the three of them.
While I get that, I am speculating that they are going to want an RB who can catch out there on most downs. Seems like how Canales runs his offense. White had 70 catches for almost 600 yards while also rushing for almost 1K. That ability is going to be key to whoever our #1 RB is, who I don't think is on the roster. Chuba or Blackshear will be spelling the new RB1. At least that how it seems to me.

I have a good friend who is lifelong Browns fan. Ride or die. He's asking me about Dorsey. What should I tell him.
He can make a talented offenses work. Won't elevate players. Run game much better then pass.

Based on what Im seeing our new offense is going to rely on a lot if quick passes to the RB to fight pressure. We need one of those. Who is the the best most reasonable option this year? Kid from Oregon? NH? Give me some names to start looking into!

Boy, McCaffrey would have been DEADLY in this offense.
That said, I see us signing/drafting a pass catching RB this year.
We need to replace so many offensive weapons. Mingo living up to potential would really help us.

Has there been any offical OL coach requests? This could be a big one, could we get back to power run to help these to their strengths?

I hope we can keep him. I think he will be even better with Shaq back beside him. I think he'll rush more.
