A bust, yes. Do we desperately need depth? Yes

First thing your taught playing rugby league hit around the waste and slide down the legs. You can’t run without legs
Must be an Australian thing.
We were always taught "man and ball". You wrap up high to stop the offload.

Seriously? This would be ridiculous if this were to go into effect. I played WR Div 1 in 99-2003 and would have LOVED some of these rules. Basically, just let me catch the ball and if you touch me you get flagged. What a goofy crock of poo if true.
They're super duper worried about injuries - but still don't outlaw turf.
Makes sense.

That is sort of the story of us in general. We got one of the best hauls for a RB in recent memory(maybe the best in the next decade) but proceeded to basically squander those picks.
We spent a top 10 pick on McCaffrey and gave him a huge (early) contract extension.
He was in the same situation as Burns - a star player who didn't fancy playing for this franchise anymore. We got pennies on the dollar for both.

Bro, navy, you can’t possibly be looking at him ‘slinging’ it and seeing a good arm.
making one or two throw types NFL caliber, is not NFL arm. It might be part NFL. Nfl.
The thing is, they are going to hide him, and not ask him to make certain throws. So we won’t see evidence of his shortcomings. Which is what they should do.. Let’s see how that plays out.
#1 overall pick that we traded the world for and they have to hide him.
I hope Fitterer never works in football again / becomes the GM of our most hated rival.

we lose bc we *probably* picked the wrong guy. But if we had taken stroud that trade would have been an easy W for us.
It was still too expensive even for Stroud (and what he's turned out to be [so far]).
We gave up sooooooo much.

Do you think the football magically got x10 bigger between college and the NFL and the linemen he had at Alabama where 6 and 7 inches shorter than the ones he has on the panthers? lol
He has the ability we just don't know if he can execute it at the NFL level yet
I think every player on defence got bigger and faster, yes.
You're playing against the College All-Stars of each recruiting class for the past decade in the NFL. He probably came across 2-3 future NFL players per game (and they were nowhere near the finished article) in the SEC.
It's night and day - and it's shown on the field.

He likes special events. That's what I call this
he has a soccer team. It has a meh roster.
I did find the description on Fox Sports about Charlotte FC funny. Hard to tell the difference between if they are talking about the soccer or Panthers team
Charlotte’s brain trust veered from one coach to another, one game model to another, and one player acquisition philosophy to another. None of it has worked appreciably well
I don't know how he's doing (cos who in their right mind watches the MLS?), but they hired a really good manager last time.

I'll never get the "bring him home" stuff. How many of us actually NEED to be close to our folks? It takes no time for an NFL player to hop on a plane and go see the family. Players also have the off season. Yeah, he could get a huge mansion in SC, but uh ... he'd be in SC. Play for a better team, in a more exciting area, then after you retire you can go home.
Or buy your mother a mansion in whatever state you're currently playing in.

Kirk Cousins and jail time.....? So let me get this straight........OJ can chop a couple peoples heads off and walk around free but Kirk Cousins gets jail time? Okay that HAS to be false because the justice system is an even bigger joke than I initially thought it was if this is true. Does make me laugh though!
*Allegedly.
The glove didn't fit.

Irony. Chase Young will now chase Young against the Panthers.
Although he won't have to chase him very far.

Same thing is going to happen in Miami with Tua
You don't pay Purdy or Tua top-level money. You're mad if you do.

Yeah the average defense is, “Well, what’s done is done, time to move on”. Wonder if Fitt tried that line before he got sacked lol.
I assume he's done in the NFL after his stint as a GM here.

When do we get to pick between Bryce Young and a competent NFL QB?

Interesting that Wonnum was doubled more than Burns.
Hell, half of Burns' sacks came against TEs. Mainly because OCs spent half the game single blocking him with a TE and getting away with it.

So why waste another pick when you can just roll with Bryce and make that decision in 2025 and use the capital saved to address other needs?
It would just be more poor asset management throwing more draft picks at QBs when the team as a whole was a dumpster fire last season.
Give Bryce another shot and see what we actually have.
We know what we have - a non-NFL QB under C.

I told people he would be cheap. We didn't bring him in because they know he would beat Bryce for the starting job.
Our QB Coach would have beaten Young out in a fair competition last year and he's 44.

I agree it needs to be addressed, but ngl, I really like Tremble. He's just been underutilized and stuck in dysfunctional offenses his entire career. When he gets the ball in his hands, he makes plays, period. Even with him more featured, we still need help there though.
Day drinking on the weekend. Fair play.

He was a good MLB and probably had the talent to be very good if healthy, but you're right he wasn't elite
He won the Dick Butkus, Bronko Nagurski and Chuck Bednarik Awards in 2000 - he was literally the best defensive player in College.
Saying he wasn't as good as Kuechly is a ridiculously high bar. Kuechly wasn't elite, he was first ballot HoF standard.
Morgan was an excellent player and talent, he just sadly couldn't stay healthy in the NFL.

Those teams didn’t mortgage their futures
The Broncos definitely did and the Falcons have just backed up a Brinks truck for a 36 year old coming off a torn achilles tendon.

Broncos, Steelers, Falcons, Washington, Patriots - all decisively moving on from QBs who they deemed not good enough.
The Panthers - let's run it back with Young, he needs more time.
And that's why we suck.

Who is your day 3 Qb?
in Carolina Panthers
Posted
Cos he's bounced around 5 teams in the last 5 years.
The sad thing is - he's better than Young.
