  1. Would make sense as OC having worked with Johnson and Reich will still call plays. Staley is from SC and read he wanted to be closer to mom with health issues
  2. I did not start the post with the link I replied to it. And nope I was not agreeing or basing my thoughts on the article, my opinion was Wilkes is as good as any other choice we know of now before I saw what Derek Brown said. Show me someone who is proven better than Wilkes I am all for it.
  3. ok, still cannot see taking a Qb top 10 that is not a sure thing. Of course what is a sure thing? How many top 10 Qb picks in last 10 years have become franchise Qbs versus faded away, became back ups or failed all together? How many franchise Qbs versus busts are below? I count 8 (of 32) that are or could potentially be franchise qbs. It is a total crap shoot CAM NEWTON (PANTHERS), JAKE LOCKER (TITANS), BLAINE GABBERT (JAGUARS), CHRISTIAN PONDER (VIKINGS) - 2011. ANDREW LUCK (COLTS), ROBERT GRIFFIN III (REDSKINS), RYAN TANNEHILL (DOLPHINS), BRANDON WEEDEN (BROWNS) - 2012 EJ MANUEL (BILLS) - 2013 BLAKE BORTLES (JAGUARS), JOHNNY MANZIEL (BROWNS), TEDDY BRIDGEWATER (VIKINGS) - 2014 JAMEIS WINSTON (BUCCANEERS), MARCUS MARIOTA (TITANS) - 2015 JARED GOFF (RAMS), CARSON WENTZ (EAGLES), PAXTON LYNCH (BRONCOS) - 2016 MITCHELL TRUBISKY (BEARS), PATRICK MAHOMES (CHIEFS), DESHAUN WATSON (TEXANS) - 2017 BAKER MAYFIELD (BROWNS), SAM DARNOLD (JETS), JOSH ALLEN (BILLS), JOSH ROSEN (CARDINALS), LAMAR JACKSON (RAVENS) - 2018 KYLER MURRAY (CARDINALS), DANIEL JONES (GIANTS), DWAYNE HASKINS (WASHINGTON) - 2019 JOE BURROW (BENGALS), TUA TAGOVAILOA (DOLPHINS), JUSTIN HERBERT (CHARGERS), JORDAN LOVE (PACKERS) - 2020
  4. I don't disagree with that, but also do not want to hand it to someone unproven just because he's "offensive minded"
  5. Hoping Tepper reconsiders that greedy dumbassery! Be nice if owner would make the right decision on the coach and turf.
  6. Never said players should choose the coach. Said hire a qualified leader of men which Wilkes appears to be. He also has great history with the team and city. He was here when the team had success! I did say player buy in is important ( see players comments on Rhule). If you get Sean Payton or someone you undoubtedly know is better than Wilkes , go for it, otherwise you are taking just as much a gamble hiring someone unproven but supposedly an offensive whiz (see Joe Brady). If there is someone you know is better than Wilkes....great otherwise you are gambling be it on Wilkes or someone else offensive minded. I have heard from many analyst and pros from the offensive side and defensive side and they all say the game is won in the trenches.
  7. Yeah how quickly we forget. I remember MANY people thought Matt Ruhle, one of the most sought after coaches of that time, with wonder kid Joe Brady running the offense was going to be a breath of fresh air. And are the Qbs in this draft that impressive?? In my opinion you don't hire a guy just because he is supposedly an offensive guy, you hire the best coach and leader of men. We went to 2 Super Bowls and damn near pulled the first out with Jake frigging Delhomme nearly beating Tom terrific, both with defensive coaches. Our offenses were pretty good on those teams.
  8. Pretty strong statement to say "I'll speak for every player in that locker room". Player buy in is half the battle. If we could get a better offensive coordinator and have a good draft Wilkes could do well. I am not sold on Darnold but seeing what Brock friggin Purdy is doing I am not certain a high draft pick on the QBs coming out is the right thing either. I know everyone says its a passing league now, you have to have a franchise Qb, but many teams in the past won Super Bowls without franchise Qbs when all the other pieces were in places namely in the trenches. See:Trent Dilfer. Joe Flacco, Nick Foles, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Jim McMahon, Doug Williams, Brad Johnson. Great running game, great O-Line, top 10 defense....can still win a Super Bowl
  9. Jimmy Gs stock is down.....any chance the would take Darnold off our hands? He any better than Brissett?
  10. Would things have been different if our offensive line was worth a damn ? I mean we started 3-0, fought like hell and almost came back on Dallas, Darnold looked like the answer(had multiple 300 yard games and several rushing TDs) Defense was beasting and top 5, everyone was talking about DJax getting paid big, everyone including the National Media was onboard the bandwagon. Then all hell broke loose-and the the wheels fell off-all 4 at once. Same players minus C-Mac. WTF happened is there any of that 3-0 team fight against Dallas left on this team? Could it all have been different with an O-Line?
