CHARLOTTE — The Panthers informed veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson recently that he could enter free agency and that they were moving in another direction.

The 30-year-old Thompson, a team captain and trusted mentor, has been with the team since 2015 but has played just six games in the last two seasons because of injuries.

Their first-round pick in 2015, he played in a Super Bowl as a rookie alongside legends Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis.

His 752 tackles are fourth in franchise history, trailing only Davis, Kuechly, and Mike Minter.

its seemed like the nfl has shoved them down everyones throats and every single game of the chiefs I have watched they get so many bad calls go their way.

This was also the case for the vast majority of Brady's time with the Pats. When you're the face of the league, the calls go your way, no paying of refs required.

There was also a slew of "Williams is not a generational talent" stories too, and a lot of it apparently had to do with his floor.

But the framing of those arguments are that it was a given that he was widely considered generational, and they're pushing back on that.

Bears also goofed by taking Caleb over Jayden.  Now Johnson is coaching him lol.

Bears fans know how we feel watching the QB you passed up ball out, only difference being Daniels had an even better season than Stroud's rookie season and Bryce was never touted as generational like Caleb was.

As long as he can CONSISTENTLY avoid having games like he did against the Saints, Chargers, Broncos, Bucs, Eagles and Cowboys then he may have a shot at a breakout season in 2025.

He was benched and didn't beat a winning team while getting thumped by the Cowboys, Eagles and Bucs in 4 of his last 6 games. That's not a breakout. He had a complete and consistent game to end the season on a good note with a little flash and no crash.

Young has had 1 win against a winning team in 28 games. Baseline for a breakout season is 8 wins with at least 3 against winning teams(1 on the road), and a 3 game winning streak.

If Legette catches the ball we beat the Eagles. If the defense stops Mahomes from marching down the field in less than a minute, we beat the Chiefs. If Chuba doesn't fumble in OT, we beat the Bucs in round 1. Three playoff teams against whom Bryce did enough to get us the win.

When I say contender, I mean for the ACC championship. Yes given the schedule that seems realistic imo. It's not like we are at the bottom of the barrel.

There are games on UNC's schedule that you've earmarked as Ws that they will lose. Not sure which ones, but it will happen. Programs can't be turned around that quickly, especially with an old coach who's going to have to make the transition from NFL to college. He might end up being a good coach at the college level, but expecting a 180 turnaround and ACC championship is wildly unrealistic, even for you.

We do not have the right to throw stones at the Falcons. The Panthers are in the same boat. We just burned a boat load of assets and are staring down the same fate.

The Panthers could never win a game ever again and I'd still take the time to laugh at the Falcons mistakes.

  8. The Falcons FO is getting cleared out if Penix doesn't hit. What a monumental failure it would be to give an old QB coming off an achilles injury a 4 year deal and then spend a top 10 pick on a failed QB prospect, especially when they desperately need defensive talent.
