I was thinking about what you said in your post and my whole draft philosophy is kind of the opposite. I believe that every prospect is a gamble and a risk so if you're going to gamble then you gamble on upside and potential. If Bryce Young fails it won't be because he wasn't pro-ready or he isn't accurate or any of those things that you will worry about with Willis. It will be because he lacks the parameters and traits that are needed to do the job what good is it to know what to do if you don't have the arm strength to get it there the speed to capitalize on what you see I'd rather gamble on the guy that already has those assets at the ready available to him then a guy who looks the part but you're not sure he can get it done with the ability that he has. I think you're doing yourself a disservice if you're only looking at wins losses or production and saying hey he won or through 50 touchdowns you can't factor in like some of that production might have come from his teammates or weapons around them you got to look at the whole big picture and in calculating all of that I put a higher value on athletic traits and do you have the things I need you to do to be able to do the job and the rest of it I think is coaching out gamble on the long-term upside versus who I think is pro-ready right now

I can't defend Richardsons failure to this point. And he is still as young as the rookies being taken this past season. I think he still could pan out. XL is another case. I think he looked the part but some of his times and film showed he struggled separating and the fact he never showed up being good before his 5th season. Laad was my obvious choice at that point(tho I was banging the table to trade up and grab Thomas Jr when he fell into the 20s). Ladd didn't lack athleticism and had the route running and mental part to boot. Didn't see a weakness in his game expect he was smaller..

I'm not arguing against any of that. But if a super talent looks bad vs elite competition you also have to factor in the level of talent around him. You can't expect him to beat say Auburn without another draftable player on the roster. It works both ways. Yes he clearly developed over the course of his career but you could say any player not a instant success has the same benefit of time and learning. You would rather get the talent in the building than just say oh well that car needs to much work vs taking a guy that has less ability and less upside. I wanted Richardson over Bryce and Stroud to this day I stand by that, you can't predict being injury prone, if the elite talent fails it won't be because he lacks the talent to play at the NFL level

Agreed. I thought how was better than corral at the time as well and was disappointed when we took Corral. Not sure where Howell is but I hope he's still in the league. But my philosophy drafting any prospect is always bet on elite tools and what can't be taught. I rather fill in the blanks with mental coaching than try to make a guy 5 inches taller or throw 20 yards further or 2 seconds faster.

To this day I never got what everybody didn't see in Willis and saw more in corral. Yes he had more work to do on fundamentals but he had more physical gifts and given the time we see how that has paid off. After sitting for two three seasons he now looks prime to take over the free agency market. There's a pretty good chance he's better than Bryce as well. There's just so much upside to a guy that's played very little but looks the part so far and we could have had them for a pile of magic beans.

Topic speaks for its self I have been looking at the snap count the past few weeks and have been waiting to see if he took the field. Only chance he has had is special teams. If nothing else if he completely has no brain his physical profile he should be at the least competing with bam Scott and Cherlus for snaps. He's been on the team for weeks now I would assume he at least can play a some of our defensive game plan. With how we barely have any drafted linebackers on our squad I would argue he should have started day one if we had 3 linebackers or nickel sets. He also profiled as having some pass rush ability so I would have to argue why isn't he seeing any snaps outside special teams?

Chink in Jaycee Horns armor/Achilles heel

Not that any corner wouldn't struggle with this kind of speed, but it's the only time I'm slightly asking myself is horn okay when thrown at. -
I will never not think the guy is an elite corner possibly the best corner we have ever had. He is for the most part lock down with some of the best hands I have seen at corner. Now this is just me and the ole eye ball test, you line him up vs big and fast corners he's good. You line him up vs 4.3 elite all world speed he struggles greatly in that area. Olave has made him look bad in both matchups and off the top of my head I think he had a bad rep against the jets.. overall tho he can't be beat deep if you run faster than a 4.4.

This is a real dumb weakness to have. If you have known you can't run a QB sneak with Bryce, why haven't you drafted a power back? You. Need a 235-240 hammer for short yardage. If not that, why haven't you drafted a taysom hill like gadget player for just this situation? Jalen milrose from this past draft would have been perfect for these short yardage 4th and gotta have it situation. If your committed to young commit to his limitations and adapt.

cam Newton makes his return to Madden football
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not sure myself and I have bought every Madden to come out in the last 20 or so years.. I'm sure he was in the game when he was playing ball most of his career but after that I dunno if it was a licensing issue or what.. he became scarce.. that said the Panthers don't get many legend/ hall of fame QBs if you play mut. I wanna say he's the only one.. you don't get Jake or Collins or whoever. You do get Bryce but they always give him like the weakest arm in the game so he's almost unplayable. Cam on the other hand comes with top end speed at the position.. probably the strongest arm at the time of release, most strength at the position and a rocket arm.. he's a offense changer. -
Little light hearted topic.. For whatever reason Cam Newton doesn't appear in Madden ultimate team every year for whatever reason like most legends. I personally believe it's due to them robbing him of appearing on the cover of the video game series during his peak years winning NFL rookie of the year and the MVP super bowl run. Needless to say I'm a huge Competitive Madden ultimate team player spending hours of days crunching numbers and churning roster management. When this was announced it was a lightening rod in the Madden community. Competitive players know Newton is a game changer.. Your talking fastest quarterback in the game and highest throwing power in the game when he drops. That a long with. Unheard of ability at quarterback like freight train the ability to run over linebacker and corners and I was stoked. I m ashamed to say how much money threw at the game to try to pull newton and failed But it's a big deal seeing as every pro Madden player most certainly has to have him on their roster and the card art is pretty sweet.

You know what's worse about the QB situation?
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean that's a huge turn off.. but a swift kick in the ass or a vet coaching him up I think is a much easier solution than fixing whatever is going on with Bryce.
