For the Willis isn't that fast crowd
micnificent28 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think people who are advising him would try to mitigate risk. He was asked why he didn't run he said his support staff everyone but his dad told him not 2. In the past most of the fast qbs didn't run the 40. Did Lamar jackson? Nobody said oh he must not be fast. -
Will drafting a rookie QB save Rhule?

I agree. He went to the perfect place for his style of ball. It'd why Jimmy G looked good there and was successful. I dunno.. I think if the line holds up and you have cmc.. you could have success in carolina. -

Except scouts who timed him said he was clocked in game moving at the same speed as kyler who ran a 4.38. Sooo. My answer to why he didn't run a 40 is because what does he gain from running a fast time? What if something goes wrong? More to loose than gain from running. That's like saying why didn't Evan Neal run the 40. Or do bench? Same thing. -

Depends on how he performs. If he does as good as Ole boy with the patriots yes... yes he does. -

Exactly.. these boomers seem to think having legs makes you a horrible passer.. look at the top qbs in the most of these guys have some ability to move and or pick up first downs with their legs. The pure pocket passer is actually a dying breed. -

Who is labeling him a running qb. Having the ability to run and throw doesn't mean you can't do the other.. thats what your saying. -

Dude just said he's been clocked on scrambles at the same speed as kyler Murray in game thats what 4.38. -

Because that's such a old school mindset. Having more than 1 way to attack a problem or situation is nothing but good. If the defense has more to worry about there is less they can throw at you. That really isn't debatable. -

Wasn't targeted at you. Simply trying to point out he's a much better athlete than he's been given credit for. To many people are saying Pickett and Corral would beat him in a foot race. -
Been seeing a lot people who seem to think in terms of speed Pickett or Corral are on equal footing as Willis. Since there has been no official 40 from Willis who's to say who is right? For the last hour I have been asking the talking heads to see where they have him in terms of speed
-
He is not as good a athlete as Willis nor is his arm as good as Willis. Willis has been rumored to to run a 4.37 at his auburn pro day as a 2nd year player If you show me where either of these guys move that well I will concede. Looking heavy* is fine for such a strong guy many say he is a power runner. I like that about him. If he's going to be 6'0 I rather he be thickly built. 225 is awesome for his height I think.
-
I think you guys saying Pickett and coral are equally as athletic as Willis are under esitmating him. We are talking about a guy who has averaged nearly 100 yards. Who breaks tackles in the pocket and on run he's just stronger and thicker built.
-
Really after everyone clearly has Willis ahead of Pickett and going as high as 2?
-
Vick was a bust lol.. ok see yourself out sir.
-
And you could be absolutely right. My line of thinking is it isn't fair to judge a guy playing with a over-matched team like liberty vs say a sec power like Ole miss. It's the reason darnold looked good vs say the Texans and had us believing we were a playoff team vs when things really hit the fan. I think that's why you evaluate traits.. like what can a guy do.. what is his ability vs just what you see on the tape. It's why some people daw Josh Allen coming and others couldn't. Not saying Willis is Allen... This is just the way i look at players not just qbs. What can they do. If operating in a perfect scenario what is their ceiling? What do they excel at?Then based off that you try to put them in a position to win.

Good thing tepper has shown he knows the value of a franchise qb and probably wouldn't allow rhule a lame duck coach to just throw away the franchises shot at a franchise qb. I think Willis has all the ability and intelligence to be good. I am of the same mindset as Ellis.. you able on physical specimens and upside. Give me the things that can't be taught and we will figure out what can be. Guys that grade our as the 5 star recruits out of high-school the ones that from day one have be pegged as first round talents usually have a higher chance at fulfilling their promise. The problem with doing it the other way is those other traits are harder to quantify. You can't spot the next brady or even point out what makes him so unique. He just has it.. but you can see Cam Newton, lebron James guys that just are freaks coming before they get here.
-
Except he came out of the senior bowl qb1 defeating the same guys we are talking about now in practice and against air.
-
Personally.. I like Willis. If he is there I have no problem taking him. Even if he isn't ready day 1 you can weaponize him get him into the game on some packages as he develops. If a team trades up into the top 5 for him great as well.. I think that means Neal, Hamilton, icky gets pushed down. This is nothing but good either way.
-
Oh the he runs so he can't throw verity.. running qbs can't win superbowls mantra..
-
You mean black qb him can't read defenses him inaccurate? Him can only run... me rather take white wr who runs chrisp routes like Wes Welker?
-
Well before that kamara had to transfer from Alabama. He signed with them and was behind T.J. Yeldon along with three future NFL stars in Derrick Henry, and Kenyan Drake.
-
I think it means college coaches don't know what they have on hand or players mature and develop as their careers go on. Remember even Cam couldn't sniff the field behind The Golden Calf of Bristol but that doesn't mean he was the better passer or qb.

I have been digging around looking for his projected 40 time and this is all I have found
-
I just read that malik willis uncle is former panthers linebacker James Anderson? Not sure if true?

I'm seeing he looks huge his legs especially at 225
