Last year was not so much but if Legette grows, and if Brooks can get healthy and stay that way, and Sanders develops, it was a good draft. But I just feel different this year, more confidence than ever, but it's that time of the year....every fan of every time is feeling better about who they pull for.
Last year's draft sucked. I get it has just been a year but trading up after six wr's were already taken was stupid as was trading up to take an injured rb.

Sophomore to senior in one year? What happened to being a junior? I think a 20 year old three year starter with limited injury history and a great year at Purdue is likely to succeed.

We keep having to utilize high draft picks to make up for mistakes. WR #8 McMillian to cover mistakes Mingo and XL; RB #111 Trevor Etienne to make up for mistake Jonathan Brooks.

He’s going into this season with no true competition for the #1
we have invested a fortune in a competent O-line
bonafide #1 RB
solid TE
Arguable top 10 slot WR in Theilen
back to back 1st round picks in WR
a OC minded HC
this IS his make it or break it year
Don't forget we spent a lot of draft capital in taking Mingo, Legette, and McMillian to give him wr weapons after we spent a fortune to make him the #1. I don't think he will ever live up to being a no. 1 pick but could turn into a serviceable starter.

I like the look of this draft but I feel like I say that all the time for us. Unfortunately due to the bad Fitt drafts and last years draft we absolutely must have 3 solid nfl contributors at minimum here. If we get that then the franchise can take a step forward and be competitive.
I wonder what the trade back offers were? It would be interesting to put together a draft using those picks. I did not think we would ever get a chance at Mike Green in the second or that we would pass him up for Scourton. Princely in the third was great value but was it wise to take two edges at that point (probably, he is a really great value there)? I still see Tet as another big body that can't get separation, but i was encouraged by the fact that Bryce and him worked out together in California and have a rapport. If the 49ers and Rams really wanted him too, i am probably wrong on his potential. I was really expecting another turd class like last year and this one is much, much better at first blush. It could be a great draft class...only time will tell at this point.

LOL. Two first round wr picks in a row. Tepper is really trying to convince the world he was right with the Bryce Young pick.

Is Jeanty better than Hampton? Warren better than Loveland.
Yes. No.

Thank you for stating the difference, because it’s a big one. Personally I’d prefer another Bobby Brown/haloti ngata/Kenneth Grant big boy 34 NT. This D has to have that to have a chance. But in a 34 front if we draft Mason we’d be putting DB and Mason 34 DE and BB in the middle. Hard not to like that too
We spent more for Tershawn Wharton (54M over 3 yrs) than any other free agent and he will line up opposite Brown as a DE in a 3-4. He is known more for his pass rush than run stopping. We signed NT Bobby Brown as a run stopper (21M over 3 yrs) and have Shy Tuttle behind him). We signed Pat Jones as an Edge for 20M for 2 yrs (7 sacks with only one start in '24). We are really thin at safety but that is generally not a value position. So who knows how the staff prioritize the D.

I saw a few people on a Jags forum saying that there are rumors they will trade #5 to Dallas so they can come get Jeanty. At least makes a Mason Graham drop a little more likely
If the Jags don't want Jeanty, Dallas needs to trade with us for cheaper and still get him. I think the Raiders have too many holes to take a RB that early.

I don't think there are any surprises. It will be Walker, and if he's off the board....Mason Graham, and if they both are off the board then Mykel Williams
Mykel's pro-day has me wanting Mike Green ahead of him. Taking an injured player in the first round is risky.

I think their dream is to slide down a bit and get Mykel. But he’s gaining some serious steam to SF at 11.
Didn't he just have a bad pro day? I think he slides past Mike Green.

our pick will be very interesting...Jalon or Mykel. Early everyone was saying Jaylon, but now they are leaning more to Mykel. We'll find out in a little more than 48 hours. I'm now cool with either one
A tweener or a guy who just said his pro-day was bad because of an ankle injury he suffered in the first game of the season. Athlon
If you are desperate for an edge, take a real one in Mike Green.

Absolutely the worst case scenario for the Panthers.

We drafted a qb a year before a bumper qb class so i would not be surprised to see us draft a wr (tet) a year after a bumper wr class (Harrison jr., Nabers, Odunze, Brian Thomas jr., xavier worthy, ricky pearsall, and XL (all first rounders). Just keep using those first round picks and we may get one in a year or two.

24. 2023: Bryce Young, Jonathan Mingo, D.J. Johnson, Chandler Zavala, Jammie Robinson.
25. 2024: Xavier Legette, Jonathon Brooks, Trevin Wallace, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Chau Smith-Wade, Jaden Crumedy, Michael Barrett.
Wow. Doesn't even tell the whole story since we are still paying for the '23 class this year.

We are not getting normal value in a draft that is this poor at the top but at the same time deep. Go with BPA, which is probably going to be Will Campbell. You don't want to trade with us, we are going to take your player.

Yup, but people were pissed when we won that last game with the Falcons. We'd be sitting at #6 had we lost basically looking at he same options as #8. That's unless Walker does go at pick four or five. Still, it's a pretty weak draft at the top overall.
Six gives us a pretty strong shot at Graham, which would be the easy choice.
-
We are about to take Walker as the second Edge off the board in a draft deep w/ Edge rushers. That is scary.
-
This year feels like the '23 draft for qb's. Slim pickin's this year but a potential haul for '26 in Manning, Lamaleava, Alar, Nussmeir, and Klubnik. One of those guys will poop the bed in '26 but some unknown will take his place. I would build my line and wr corp and worry about the qb in '26.

History says there will be multiple first round trades but this class is somewhat unique in its lack of talent once you get past the first 3-5 guys. I am really hoping for a trade back because i have been convincing myself the character issue guys (Mike Green, Pearce, and Burden) can be rehabilitated here and would represent a huge bargain late in the first or even early in the second for Burden.

Aside from Drake London all these dudes are JAGs
Especially the qb's. The best qb from that class ended up being Brock Purdy Mr. Irrelevant.

Jeanty to the Jaguars is starting to pick up legitimate steam. Vegas odds have dramatically increased, Brugler and a few others have switched him as their JAX choice at 5.
Etienne was injured a lot last year and is only one year removed from a 1,000 yd season and they also have Tank Bigsby looking pretty good. I feel pretty confident they take Mason Graham. I also like Carrol and the Raiders to take Jeanty. Trading away our second round pick is going to sting because there is a huge difference between 39 and 57 where the former could land you one of the stud edges who fall (Green, Pearce, Ezeiruaku) and the latter would land you good not great prospects like (Landon Jackson, Tuimalao, or Princely). I am ok with drafting bpa with the first pick rather than reach for Williams though.

PFF grade him as a linebacker which includes his coverage and run defense grades, which are terrible. Purely as an edge he grades out as one of the best (like 83.6 or something).
If we draft him we need to make him a full time pass rusher.
I think you got that backwards:
QuoteWalker is a physically and athletically gifted player who presents box presence versatility as an off-ball linebacker. His anticipation and pass-rush profile in its current form are lacking for consistent impact in the NFL. He must improve how he approaches rushing the passer or his off-ball instincts to be worth a top-50 selection due to age and potential.

So when Morgan said he was only interested in players with a lot of production in college, do you think that did not exclude Mykel?
I think it (should) excludes Shemar Stewart but not Mykel especially if you buy the ankle injury story.

I was a fan of Jalon Walker until I started to think about how to use him.
SI
I would be worried about how he is going to defend run plays and bigger more athletic linemen in the NFL as an Edge. Pearce is intriguing. Needs to add some weight but the guy is extremely athletic with a high ceiling. Trading away your first rounder for a guy with character concerns is risky, but I guess they did their homework.
