Per Matt Miller.. Panthers all in on Richardson?
Icege replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
College production absolutely matters when it comes to scouting a prospect. If you've got a guy with all of the tools that was never able to get the results, then that's a possible red flag that requires more digging by the scouting department. Was he limited due to the system? Was he coached to do things a particular way? etc. -

This. Stroud's performance vs. Georgia was impressive and likely the best of his career, but anybody that put in time watching the rest of his games know that that was not who he has been. He's always been talked up as somebody that's incredibly clean and efficient with a clean pocket and talented weapons, which is true but when he has to move off platform his accuracy and decision-making crater. That's one of the things that makes Mahomes the best currently: his ability to deliver the ball from different angles while on the move. Having said that, the scouting community has a saying: if he can do it once, he can do it. If the coaching staff can get him to that Georgia game level on a consistent basis, then he's got to be on the big board. -
I know some folks here might feel otherwise, but Matt Corral only getting 31 snaps in the preseason last year while being the forgotten child behind Baker & Sam's QB competition (and the 4th string OL) is not enough of a sample size to say that it's a wrap. Sure, we can assume that because there's a new coaching staff that they're going to want a different guy but this is also the same GM that moved up to draft him. That requires equal consideration. If anything, the fact that Corral was traded up for last year does give the team some flexibility at #9. They don't have to move up unless they fall in love with one of this year's prospects, and if those prospects are gone by the time the Panthers select they can still get a top 10 (possibly top 5!) player or move back if any teams are interested in coming up. That's a good thing.

I put this in one of the other threads, but it's more appropriate here... DBs I'm watching today when able: Brian Branch, Christian Gonzalez, Joey Porter Jr, Devon Witherspoon, Tre'Vious Hodges-Tomlinson, Garrett Williams, Riley Moss, Darrell Lutter Jr, Jaylon Jones, Kyu Blu Kelly, Ji'Ayir Brown, Sydney Brown, and Trey Dean III Dean III did well at the Senior Bowl iirc (or was it the Shrine Bowl?). Very interested to see if he builds off of that performance.

You were also high on Zach Wilson and have been low on Jalen Hurts.

LOOK: Kentucky quarterback Will Levis drinks his coffee with mayonnaise

Just hearing that he did that made me want to retch Now I want him arrested -
Considering your history with QB evals, this means he's destined to be the next Brady

Byron Young had fast feet and impressively violent hands.

Very eager to see the front seven today. Lot of solid prospects at LB and on the DLine this draft. Specifically for the LBs: Daiyan Henley, Jack Campbell, Ivan Pace Jr, and Anfernee Orji For the DL: Siaki Ika, Zacch Pickens, Dante Stills, Gervon Dexter Sr, Tyree Wilson, Keion White, Luke Van Ness, Tuli Tuipulotu, BJ Ojulari, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Isaiah Foskey, KJ Henry, Nolan Smith, Nick Herbig, Andre Carter II, and Nick Hampton

CJ Stroud's tape is a Pleaseant Surprise
Icege replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not handling pressure well nor being able to deliver off platform throws when having to improvise are fairly damning traits for an NFL QB prospect. If Stroud is the guy, then the hope is that the Georgia game is the type of player he is rather than can be. -
Definitely would prefer going with developing a young guy. Whether that's Corral or one of the QBs in this upcoming draft I'll leave to the folks getting paid to figure that out.
-
Have gone from "pls don't trade up" to "if this coaching staff says go get em, go get em." Hoping that the staff can live up to the expectation
-
With the coaching staff that the team has in place on the offensive side on the ball, I have no longer have any issue with trading up for a QB. If there's a guy that the coaches agree can be the franchise QB, then go get him. If they believe in Corral, then roll with Matt. If they say bring back Sam, bring him back. I'm legit just excited for the ride now.

Pls pls pls pls pls pls

Between Bryce Young's size concerns, CJ Stroud's difficulties with handling pressure while throwing to future NFL Pro Bowlers, Will Levis' inability to take over a game at the college level, and Anthony Richardson being the metaphorical equivalent of a ball of clay... this place is going to be a sea of tears when the draft comes. Kind of hoping that they take Bijan Robinson at #9 just to watch the world burn
-
I wouldn't break the bank for Carr, personally. If he's available (and affordable), go get him. Otherwise, look to the draft to add to the QB room along with whatever vet the staff brings in.

Reich, Caldwell, and McCown working together to find the team a franchise QB... omggg
-
Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers as senior assistance to the offense and defense respectively? I'm geeking rn

Hard to make an argument against moving up to #3 if Stroud or Young are available.

Holy fug Thomas Brown has been one of my favourite coaches in the NFL for the last few years. The dude is smart and an amazing teacher. Players love him. Stealing him from the Rams would be a huge W
