I've said since the trade that it wasnt for Bryce or CJ but for AR.

Going to #3 like originally intended doesn't make sense for CJ or Bryce, but does for AR. The cost for #1 was similar so they jumped for it. Played the process and BY jumped out to them.

Still 100% think the pick is AR because to get him you had to jump #7 #5 and #4 for sure.

That makes a bunch of sense and add to it the fact that Chicago's GM said we wanted to control the draft. Why would we want to control the draft, if we knew we were taking a certain Qb at 1... its because  we were trying to get in position  to still move back if need be and get a guy they really like. It does have vibes of AR but I'm sure they are all going over all 3 very intensively!!!

Two days is something to ponder about, I had read that it was rumored but didn’t know if it actually happened.   Not saying you are full of poo, I’m just curious, do you remember who confirmed it was two days? I wonder how common that is for pre draft visits?

I'm at work but I'll try to find the 2 different  tweets I saw it from.  Definitely  doesn't seem too common unless someone misses a pro day etc.

This is very intriguing, I didn’t know he had two days and did well, not much was reported on his visit. When young visited it was reported he “impressed”, but crickets for AR. Also, I keep hearing about this S2 score. We all know young did well but how did AR do, why wasn’t anything reported on him? I did see talks that he “knocked it out of the park” on twitter, but I don’t know if the person reporting that was credible. It’s all very odd, but fun to speculate.

Even after all of what I just said, with all of our own reporters and insiders reporting it’s going to be young, even reporters and insiders who are usually correct, it’s looking like it’s going to be young. In the end, any one of the three would be good picks.

I don't know how he did in the interviews but it was confirmed it was a 2 day visit, which is odd. That'd mean he spent Easter  with the team and finished up Monday, unless they meant Monday to Tuesday morning. I'm good with any because  of this coaching staff! I do know for him to have a 2 day visit, it definitely  shows that they wanted some stuff answered!!

Very true. I forgot to ask this earlier, does anyone know if the Texans canceled their pre draft visit with AR. I thought I saw someone on twitter share something about that happening. Let’s say it did, that could mean several things, obviously it could not mean much at all. It could mean AR had scheduling conflicts or something along those lines. OR it could mean they know something about what we do with the first pick…

Ok Tim foil hat off now.

side note: I still find it odd TD said that on the nfl network.

Bro, I promise  you as we get deeper into this, I really feel this is Frank's 1st choice at the moment. I remember  Davis having that face on NFLN and he said it with conviction. They just had a 2 day visit with him and if he aced both days, I'd be willing to bet there is some heavy duty back n forth going on. Vegas would be turned upside down.

The only part of this that doesn't make a ton of sense is why we were willing to go to #3 if we wanted Young all along. He was never gonna be at #3...

But these are dynamic situations and perhaps they didn't expect an opportunity to get the first QB on the board until it turned out the costs were nearly the same...

I think Frank may of really been ok with Richardson or Stroud at that point and I bet he is still banging the drum for either of those 2. I think he likes Young but when he involuntarily mentioned  Youngs durability, he showed his hand in how he feels about him.  Then you have  Schefter going full blown Young and they have the same agency. This is far from done. Young could very well be the pick but I feel there is some resistance within our contingent.

  6. Well they did have a 2 day visit with him, so the let's me know that they wanted to probably  do a physical  assessment  and some boardwalk. If he aced it... we may start hearing rumors going his direction. I have been Stroud 1st and Young and Richardson  next but I'm just burnt out and ready for us to just get someone!  I feel Stroud and AR are the only 2 that you don't have to strip half the playback from(under center) and etc.

Listening to that, I think that the durability  factor is going to be the deciding factor. Tepper seemed to be a guy big on analytics  and with that being the case, what numbers do they have to go off of for shorter qbs. Frank mentioned that and if you move to 1, you can't have as many risk. If we had the number 1 pick from the start, I'd say it be more of a chance to  get Young but being that the gap between the 2 is very minimal, Stroud will be the pick! You not going to give up that many assets and be 2nd guessing if your qb gonna get hurt and how to scheme an offense so he can stay healthy!  I'm going to support whoever it is tho!

  8. It could be that they don't need much to know about the other 2! I mean I think they know who Stroud n Levi are(for better or worse) and have more questions about Stroud (height durability) and Richardson (football IQ) as well. Then again it could just be travel logistics mixed in as well.

  9. I'm not against Young but I hate when people say that picking Stroud is the safer qb! Stroud has legit talent and it behooves  me that so many will say that Young is head and shoulders better with IQ! I see 2 good prospects and 1(Stroud) who  looks to project to be a problem for teams! He could carve people up from the pocket if this staff got their hands on him. Young has all the magic you like to see but after watching Russell  flame out...  I'm always going to  go with Stroud  1st. I'll root for either but man I got a gut feeling CJ is going to be around for a long time!!

possible.  Remember we just hired our first offensive minded coach, and he's already stated we have a good defense, and he wants a good offense.  He's gonna get a QB at one, and he may be thinking we need to protect him, and he's right.

If there are no WRs left, and with two of our IOL recovering from serious injures, he might choose to solidify the line. Worked for the Saints with Brees...you get your QB, you protect him.  Saints spent an incredible amount of draft capitol plus big contracts to protect their QB.

I'd love a CB or edge, but understand if it's OL.  A prior poster suggested that a guard wouldn't play a snap his rookie year.  We started Icky last year as a rookie....he was a top 10 pick but he also played a much harder position at LT.  We wouldn't even play Gross at LT his rookie season, instead playing him at RT or guard, can't remember.

We'll all have to adjust our thinking to an offensive minded coach.

Which honestly  makes me wonder also about a possible tight end there. It's a chance that Kincaid  and Washington  are there and I'm sure they will have high grades. Washington  also checks off weapon and protection.  There will be a good/possible starter at 39.

I have seen Kincaid from 15 to 45--I am guessing he is long gone by the time the first day ends--however, we don't know.  At 39, I  would take him in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I have seen that too! I'm thinking him having the surgery has him sliding a lil bit but he is definitely  1st round talent. Pretty deep draft for skill positions.

  12. 1 hour ago, MHS831 said:

I would love him, but if we trade up, we lose our chance to grab a player at a position that is loaded this year--a position of greater need--edge.  Currently, we have Burns, Haynes, and Barno.  YGM is not a 3-4 Edge; neither is Luvu as his primary position.  At WR, we have Chard, Thielen, TMJ, Shenault, and Smith--2 to 3 of them, in my opinion, would be best from the slot.  I think we add a WR late or go with 6-5 Preston Williams as the sixth, but the need (on paper, anyway) does not seem to be as great.  Flowers is a weapon, but the lack of WRs has him floating up to the first round, when he is probably a second rounder in most drafts.

I think they are looking into Leinard Floyd but no telling on implications. There are sine definite options at 39 for pass rush tho. Somebody like Dalton Kincaid may be there too and adding him in a 2 tight end set could be just as deadly as Flowers. Idk... there will be some tough options.

  13. The one thing we have to wonder... they are now about to have dinner with 2 physical  specimen( Levis and Richardson) soon. I wonder will they start to look at the fact that Stroud is the combination  of all 3 in ways. Stroud is the only prospect that has the smarts and accuracy like Young and not as big but closer to the size of the other 2.  I think that could very well be a deciding factor. Your investment  has to hold up. If Myles Garrett comes around the corner and hit Stroud, the chances of him bouncing back would be ok. If he does that to Young, it could destroy him and now here we are looking at another investment  scenario.

Heck yea, let’s sit back and enjoy the ride, poo like this for this team doesn’t happen often. We finally have competent coaches and a GM with the reigns off, let’s let this play out.

Most definitely  bro!!! I can honestly  say I'm good with whichever  route they go!! We haven't had this many component  offensive  minds on a staff ever. I truly believe  they will be beneficial  to any of the Qbs being mentioned!!

Who are the teams that are shooting for pick #1?. Atlanta will supposedly be in the mix along with Panthers and likely Colts. This will be a shootout for number one spot.

I think Atlanta is in trolling to drive up our draft capital  if so. This division  is ruthless

  16. You have to take a risk at some point! Each year they say the next group of qbs are going to be better but by the time the media pundits and draft gurus nitpick, you are left with only 2 guys with hype usually. It never failed it seems. If Frank and crew see they guy THEY want and agree on it... go get him...

I understand wanting to get a discount.. But if you want the guy you pay what you need to.. Jmo I think Stroud and Young are worth the price to play.. So go get them and leave no risk..

I feel the  same. Year after year we spend capital on scrubs or we just play it safe. Could of moved up a couple spots and got Herbert. It's time for them to pinpoint and stop gambling on outcast  and develop our own.  I'm for certain veterans but we can't continue to play these games with the Qb spot. Especially  now that we have our 1st Offensive minded coach.
