So why was it a 2016 pick instead of a 2015 one?
Because Goodell is soft. Probably because the draft is so close he didn't want to hurt the Falcons draft plans this year.
-
Good ol' Roger Goodell at it again. How did this fug come about to be commissioner again? The only way I can think of is illegal in 49 different states.
-
Yeah, well last year he 'thought' Bell was the answer.
That's what I'm saying. If he hands Oher the job at LT which is what it sounds like he's doing, and if Oher fails to be any better than Bell that won't be good for the ol' track record.
-
I wouldn't expect him to say that either. I was hoping for something along the lines of a "competition" and a "we are still looking to add a couple guys" it sounds like he's handing him the job and that does make me worry a bit.Saying that he expects Oher to be the starter doesn't necessarily mean he thinks Oher is the answer at left tackle. Unless the question is, who are we going to give a shot to prove himself. We could pickup someone in the draft as insurance, or even to groom in case Oher doesn't show us much more than Bell did.
I wouldn't expect him to say Oher is a temp replacement until we find our real lt, even if he is thinking it.
-
I do.
I hope he's right.
I hope he's right too because if it ends in a disaster like the whole Bell experiment that won't be good.
-
Man Gman really thinks Oher is the answer to our LT problem....idk how I feel about that

Can't forget Godfrey as wellBecause we didn't start seeing improvement in some areas until injuries made the decisions for him.
Williams over Stewart, Amini over Norwell, championing guys like Fua and Bell, etc.
Those are the sorts of things that give me pause.

Yea you're right so it was technically a losing season I guess it's how you look at it. I feel like a division title, playoff berth, and a playoff win is a winning season. If we're getting TECHNICAL here, we were 8-9-1...
-
Technically we went 8-8-1 which is considered being over .500 we also went to the playoffs and won that to me is a winning season 2 for 4 isn't terrible especially if we 3 peat.1 winning season in 4 seasons says it all.

First year under G-Man where we have more picks than just the standard 1-7. Going to be interesting to see what he does.

Lots of feels on display in this thread

Just a question but have we drafted a guy that we did NOT bring in for a visit yet? I'm talking only 1st/2nd rounder's. If we haven't then we can definitely narrow down who it is we could draft by just looking at who they've visited with so far.
-
Skills? Does keyboard warrior count?
-
This is good news though. That way GMan won't feel the need to reach for a WR if one isn't there at 25.
-
Wait so we didn't get this guy?
Nope not yet. OP def needs to be updated.
-
Lol I'm not so sure that's the common theme around here. Most people know that you draft BPA based on your needs. As long as the BPA fits a need we'll draft him. We don't need a DT, OG, QB, RB, or CB in the first but any other position is fair game.

Pretty stupid for everyone to be but hugging Gettle Jesus Christ people he's been here for two years...can we please wait until he actually completes a team through a few drafts and we see how all his players turn out long term instead of basing everything on their first seasons or not completely sucking.
Gettle is a big ? right now and if you say otherwise your opinion isn't really worth much. No wonder the huddle blows up so as we fail yet again because they don't just say 'we'll see' and sit there and act like things are going good. We really just don't fuging know, it's ok to admit that.
Having faith and confidence isn't actually a bad thing. I think Gettleman has done a good job with the tools he was given. You can't fix everything in 1 offseason so of course it's going to take a few seasons to see where he stacks up against the rest of the GMs in the league. If there is one thing he has proven though, it's that he's an expert talent evaluator and you can't deny that. The amount of late round/UDFAs that have made contributions to this team has been better than probably any team in the league over the last 2 seasons. He also won't give out contracts that screws the team in the long run and pays attention to all the trends that are going on in the league. I personally think we are in good hands.

Just throw the bag at his knees and see if he holds upShould we have a doctor examine his shredded knee first?
Or just stuff a bag with money and throw it at him?
-
Don't worry we'll resign him for cheap next offseason once he's a FA again
-
If he goes to the shitty ass bucs I will hope nothing but the worst for him. Good riddance what a piece of trash.

I'm fine with building a strong defense.
But if you're going to clear out Newton's entire WR core and make his #1 WR a rookie in the same offseason that he had ankle surgery, all while heading into a contract year, you can only blame him so much for the circumstances you put him in.
Yeah we ended up winning the division and a playoff game, but those blowout losses should not be so quickly forgotten. One of the main reasons for those losses was the lack of firepower we had on offense. That's okay if your defense is picking up the slack, but that wasn't happening early on. Even in the playoffs when our defense had returned to form somewhat we still allowed Wilson a near perfect passer rating on 3rd down. Again our offense did not have the firepower to keep up. If our goal is to win the Super Bowl, which it obviously should be, we need to do all we can to keep improving our offense. The "well all we have to do is replace this number on yards and we're good" approach was laughable then, and it was even more laughable when we were getting shithoused by teams like the Vikings last year.
Yeah signing Ginn is a start, but we definitely need another receiving threat, and it looks like it will have to be through the draft.
Exactly. Ron's approach to the WR core last offseason was head scratching that's why we went into the season with freakin cotchery and avant as our #2 and 3 Wrs. What Qb in the NFL would succeed with that? Not one.
-
I doubt we sign another receiver which really sucks it'd be nice to replace Cotchery before the draft but for some reason he and Harper get the Good ol' boy treatment.

Yep. Goodell panicked and caved like a little bitch with the Hardy situation. That's all there is to that.
