  1. Well this game shows we didn’t pick up the trade we needed to get to the next level in scoring. Only hope is that as Ghost and Puljujarvi start to blend in better with the team and the whole team turns it around.
  2. I know it was. 3 on 1 but Anderson looked terrible leaving the five hole and his left leg way off the ice.
  3. Agree the sling it against the net and hove for the best won’t work here. or about to concede yet though- got a whole period left and Canes come alive in the third when they have to.
  4. Not a good second period. Still have hope for the third because… Canes.
  5. canes playing winning hockey, I think it’s gonna take a rocket slap shot or a pass to the open side close in to score on Quick.
  6. Now for a real test, should be quite a battle!
  7. Sorry wrong link. Below is the correct link.
  8. As said in the Josh McCown video, Brice Young can read the whole field, something I didn’t see evidence of in Stroud. He’s also better under pressure as shown in the below video. I just don’t think you can coach the ability to quickly process, that’s why I think Young will fair better in the NFL. Time will tell, but at this point I hope the Panthers select Young. https://m.youtube.com/results?sp=mAEA&search_query=bryce+young+worst+plays+
  9. This was an AHL trade, the AHL trade deadline was today march 10 at 3pm.
  10. Teams can trade after the deadline but the trade isn’t eligible or the playoffs (so I’ve read).
  11. Rod says Bison King will play sometime this weekend. He’s getting ice time in practice with Jesper Fast having a maintenance day. https://twitter.com/WaltRuff/status/1634242556958588928?s=20
  12. This spreadsheet on MoneyPuck is interesting to explore. I read up on how they come up with “expected goals” using historical data and other voodoo (lol) and as an engineer wasn’t overly impressed. So I changed it from expected to “Goals” (actual) to see the real data for this season. Also looked at Offensive and Defensive lines separately, regular season and playoffs for various seasons, and played around with the Maximum Ice Time slider. You can sort on each header field. https://moneypuck.com/lines.htm
  13. Oops, my bad. Canes beat Flyers 1-0. It was the previous game with Montreal where Montreal was up 2-0 before losing to the Canes on the shootout. Don’t get old kids lol.
  14. Flyers fire General Manager Chuck Fletcher I guess the loss to the Canes after being up 2 was the final straw on a history of poor performance. https://www.inquirer.com/flyers/flyers-fire-general-manger-chuck-fletcher-20230310.html
  15. Gotcha. So if we converted better on those chances we could move ahead of the Bruins in Actual Goals scored.
  16. Really Vegas and NJD are a good test of whether the Canes can rise to the occasion this time of the year against good teams. If they beat the Devils on a back to back game then it’s a good sign. I wonder if Puljujarvi plays and if he helps. Plus Fgost will have had more time with the team. I’m optimistic but don’t have money on it
  17. Ah, I see what’s wrong with that Moneypuck chart now, it’s just for 5 on 5. Xanes can’t stay out of the box so doesn’t count lol. And no, we aren’t beating the Bruins in Goals per game or in Lowest goals against. See my post above.
  18. Looking at that chart you would think we should be at the top of the heap in scoring. For some reason it doesn’t tell the full story. Canes are #7 in G/GP, and #2 in lowest Goals against average. https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/team-stats Bruins are #2 in G/GP and #1 in lowest GAA.
  19. On the defensive side we were and are first rate, stanley cup quality. And Kutchi was excellent in net. Just need another gear on offense if we want to get there.
  20. Flyers shot blocking was outstanding, kept them in the game. But why oh why does TB score 5 goals on the Flyers, Montreal 5, Devils 7, and we get … 1 goal on a power play. Sure shots weren’t going in but they weren’t grade A types for the most part. Sling it to the net and hope it goes in or a rebound shot (Canes modus operandi) only works when the opposing team doesn’t clog up the net front. It’s not a consistent way to score, statistically you get a lot in some games and hardly anything other games. I still think we have some work to do on offense if we want to beat Vegas and the Devils this sat and sunday. Beating the Devils on a back to back game is quite the challenge.
  21. 10 giveaways to 1, only 6 SOG (both teams). Gotta pick it up 2nd period, PPG is why we’re ahead.
  22. Love seeing Svech get his scoring back!
  23. I understand what you’re saying, emotions can make play better. Kuchi is young and celebrating a little too much after he got is goal was funny and understandable. A cheap trip as a poor loser however, like that in the link I provided, isn’t going to make fans or Rod happy. Emotions have to be controlled sometimes and Rod won’t tolerate displays like that.
  24. Playing the Flyers gives us a chance to see with the addition of Ghost, are we still a typical 3 goal scoring team or a 4-5 goal team? If we can’t score 4-5+ goals on the Flyers we could lose with kochetkov in net. But then again he could play lights out and surprise us with his big chance.
