  1. The S2 test is supposed to be a tool to help NFL teams in selecting players. If the scores were as claimed, then the S2 failed miserably. Although from what I've read on this forum it seems that some believe that David Tepper was impressed by Bryce Young over dinner and that's when the decision was made to select him. Who knows?
  2. Absolutely. I love both players. I watched your game against Minnesota (after Houston's game) and was rooting for Bryce and the Panthers to be successful.
  3. People used to say that Stroud had great numbers in college because of his great group of receivers. My simple response to that was, well, receivers get open and Stroud delivers the ball to them. Isn't that what he's supposed to do? I was on here months ago, believing that Carolina would take Stroud, saying that if the OL protects and receivers get open, Stroud will deliver the ball. I also said that, on 3rd-and-long, when you need a QB to make a big throw, I want Stroud behind center. I still think that Bryce can be a decent NFL QB. Carolina needs to build their offensive identity around Bryce's strengths. Bryce is going to get better but I'm not sure that he is "the guy" that's going to lead Carolina to a Super Bowl win. Edited to add: By the way, Ohio State's receivers aren't putting NEAR the numbers they were when Stroud was slinging the ball. Marvin Harrison Jr. suddenly looks human. On the contrary, it was Stroud that made them look other-worldly. Ohio State sure misses CJ Stroud. Alabama also despertely misses Bryce Young.
  4. Isn't an offensive coordinator supposed to come up plays that his players can successfully execute in order to move the ball and score?
  5. Due to the lack of competetiveness in FBS football, we've had a lot of BAD playoff games. There are a number of teams who have received playoff bids only to get blown out. Ohio State was one of them in 2016, losing 31-0 to Clemson.
  6. Agreed. I'm trying to remember a meaningful game that Notre Dame won in the past 5 years.
  7. If I had to pick the playoff teams right now I would seed them like this. #1 Georgia vs. #4 Florida State #2 Texas vs. #3 Michigan #5 Oregon (best team in Pac12, they're next man up if one of the top-4 falters). Washington is #6. Penn State #7. Ohio State #8. Alabama #9. USC #10.
  8. It was thought that, with a new OC and the transfer of Sam Hartmann, that Notre Dame would be much better this year. They have a good tight-end but no real playmakers at receiver. They're a good team but not playoff caliber. For that matter, neither are my Buckeyes. But back to Notre Dame, they host USC in 2 weeks and later they play at Clemson. Right now I think Notre Dame is an 8 or 9-win team. Ohio State's #1 problem is the loss of CJ Stroud to the draft. Our QB play is nowhere near what CJ did. As well, our OL is not nearly as good, which isn't suprising based on the guys we lost to the NFL, including left tackle Paris Johnson, taken #6 by Arizona.
  9. You guys should have seen the game thread on the Notre Dame thread. It was a complete meltdown and then the miracle happened. Notre Dame plays at Louisville next week. The Irish better figure it out or they're going to get beat.
  10. Notre Dame is overrated and so are my Buckeyes.
  11. I wouldn't use a high pick on him. Incidentally, his grade against Notre Dame was awful. https://buckeyeswire.usatoday.com/lists/ohio-state-football-defensive-player-by-player-pff-grades-for-notre-dame-game/
  12. What do you guys think of this? From a distance it seems to me that OL is your top need, but I haven't watched Carolina closely. https://www.drafttek.com/2024-NFL-Draft-Team-Pages/Panthers-Draft-Page.asp CAROLINA PANTHERS TEAM NEEDS Most recent team needs update: September 4 Starter Need High (P1, P2) EDGE Starter Need Medium (P3) WR DL5T ILB Mid Round Fill High (P5) OG CB Depth Fill (P4) TE NT OLB CBN Late Round Fill (P6) RB OT OC DL3T SFTY Minimal Need (P9) QB WRS PANTHERS PICKS/COMMENTS MOST RECENT MOCK Results from Consensus Mock Draft: 2024 In-Season Mock #2 Most recent mock draft update: 9/20/23 R2 38 Carolina Bralen Trice Washington EDGE Reach/Value: 1 Height: 6'3" Weight: 269 R3 70 Carolina Tommy Eichenberg Ohio State ILB Reach/Value: 5 Height: 6'2" Weight: 239 R4 102 Carolina Antwane Wells Jr. South Carolina WR Reach/Value: -7 Height: 6'1" Weight: 207 R5 142 Carolina (Trade) Xavier Thomas Clemson EDGE Reach/Value: -8 Height: 6'2" Weight: 255 CAR g TEN (D Daley) R6 161 Carolina (Trade) Curtis Jacobs Penn State OLB Reach/Value: 1 Height: 6'1" Weight: 227 CAR g ARI (R Anderson)
  13. Emeka is NASTY. He and Marvin might the first two WR's taken in the draft. He's also our punt returner and a good one. But it sounds like your #1 need is replacing Michael Jordan.
  14. As a college football junkie I saw Bryce play a lot. I disagree with an earlier post that said that Bryce doesn't have the "it" factor, but I may be wrong, of course. A lot of great college QB's couldn't cut in the NFL. I should know. I'm an Ohio State fan.
  15. Wow that's beyond horrible. Maybe Carolina shouldn't have made that trade with Chicago and instead traded with Arizona and taken Paris Johnson Jr. to play tackle.
  16. There are HOF QB's that struggled early. I am 99% confident that, by the end of this season, you guys will be happy with Bryce.
  17. I wanted Carolina to draft CJ but I DO believe that Houston was a better landing spot for CJ for a variety of reasons, one being that they do actually have talented WR's.
  18. Bryce is going to be good. You knew this year would be a development year for Bryce and that Carolina wasn't winning a Super Bowl this season. Carolina, just like everybody else, will need to build this team by making good draft picks and acquiring key players via free agency.
  19. It's definitely on the coaches to develop Bryce and to create an offensive game plan that he can execute. Sometimes offensive coordinators want a QB to run his system rather than basing the system on the abilities of his QB, right?
  20. If you were a Bears fan you'd be lambasting Bears' ownership instead of Carolina's ownership.
  21. Chicago is probably wishing they had traded Fields and taken Young, Stroud, or Richardson. Chicago was supposed to be improved but instead they're even worse, but I guess that's another thread.
  22. When it's all said and done, history will reflect that Bryce was one of the all-time great, short, QB's. I watched him play at Bama and he is the real deal.
