No Curley. No Burton. No Washington. No Javon Baker. No Rice. All my dreams of the double dip at WR have disintegrated. *Sigh*

Well, 2025 is supposed to be deep also. Bryce has weapons, so I can't be too disappointed.

There's always the udfa pool and the waiver wire. It ain't over till its over.

Ok? Those guys all went soon after our picks. Plenty of guys drop and then people wonder why they dropped after they are successful. Plenty of busts. Let’s not act like Team rankings are some infallible lists. If we had been drafting well the past 6 years do you think we’d be complaining as much? We complain because our GMs/scouting has been crap for the past 6 years. It’s that simple. The huddle rankings and consensus have absolutely been better than our team’s results.

Never said they were infallible. They're just not based on what you base yours on. Teams are looking for fit in their system. That throws any preceived bpa out the window. It doesn't mean they don't get it wrong sometimes. But they do take players they think can be successful for them. They set their bpa based on their rankings of the pool. They do not use Mel Kipers big board or anyone on here's board.  To lament over perceived value is just a wasted exercise in my view. But if that makes you feel some kinda way then have fun with it. This stuff doesn't bother in the least.

Jon Snow's Ass - Tight End - Butte College

    6th Round

    Pros:

Great size. Excellent Receiver. Always near the balls. Hungry.

    Cons:

Needs more time in the gym. Prone to spew poo on the field.

    Consensus:

Good late round prospect, but cracks and holes in his game taint his possibility of going any earlier.

Sounds like a 1st round pick to me!

My point exactly, we never stray from our tunnel vision and visits. Other teams do and that’s how they get guys like Tre Smith and maybe Kamara, Jones and all the Centers.

Visits can never come close to covering every pick and scenario. Typically most of them are focused on top 2 picks like all 4 QB visits last year and all the late first and early to mid second ranked guys this year. I don’t think our scouts are worth a damn based on the last 6 years and our horrific hit rate at all levels. I think we don’t do enough digging so we seem to be the worst team at taking advantage of value/deep positions. Look at this draft. Super deep draft at OT, CB and WR with a decent amount of Cs (versus not deep at G). Out of those deep positions we got XL in the 1st and Chau in the 5th. Sure doesn’t seem like we took advantage of anything.

The only draft pick where I feel like we got great value and got ahead of a run was Sanders and I think many of us in here had him on our short list for 101. The way the draft broke and the entire overnight and Sanders was an easy pick to make but we then missed Jones, Kamara and McLahlan (two TE sets could have been awesome for run and pass with two solid receiving threats at TE).

Oh well, we’ll see how it goes.

Nerds. Your rankings are not in line with team rankings. They never will be. You have to forget that stuff in real life. Why teams rank players the way the do can only be explained by that team. I don't even bother looking at mocks and specfic player rankings. I will take a look at how the players that are nationally ranked to get some idea of the strengths at each position but beyond that I don't even try to predict where they will be drafted. I've watched too many drafts to think any of these predictions and rankings even matter.

Mullins isn’t too far from my grandmas spot in Lumberton, NC. They speak just like he does over there lol.

Im rooting for the youngin. Still hesitant on the pick, but I’m hoping like hell it works out and he becomes one of the great WR in this league. We haven’t really had that since Steve Smith. DJ Moore was really good for us too

Being great would be nice and all but right now he just needs to be better than what we've seen from everyone except Theilen. Let's start there a work our way up. There will be more competition brought in next year. One piece at a time. They best part if there is one is that we are not loaded at the position and his future is up to him.

Miami took Kamara (Edge CSU) right after we took Chau. We absolutely need edge and Kamara was not a Dolphins visit according to Walter Football who tracks visits well.

So, you’re wrong here and it took me one look at a guy I wanted us to take one pick prior because he was BPA. Miami took Chop in the first round so edge was no longer a need, yet they took Kamara because he was BPA.

Teams like Miami, who have successfully built playoff teams with a new regime do so by getting impact players and value in the draft. Teams like us, who suck for long times do so by not getting impact players and by throwing away picks via bad trades and by not really going BPA to find diamonds in the rough. We’ve had 0 diamonds in the rough in 6 drafts.

I didn't say they never do. I said they don't usually do that unless someone falls that they didn't expect to. The visits are based around guys they think will be available to them.

I think he makes the team. One other thing I forgot to mention, Mike Leach passed away Dec 2022 and we promoted our DC to HC much before he was ready. Our defense took a massive step back because of this, we promoted our LB coach to DC and he also was not ready. The entire defense was a disaster last year due to external factors, if he didn’t get hurt 2022 and had continuity in 2023, legit believe he could have been a 3rd round guy. That’s a ton of ifs, but that’s what 6th round picks are for

His draft position doesn't matter anymore. He has to earn his way from here. Sounds like he has some talent. I wish him luck.

I've watched every snap this guy has played past 4 years. He was nowhere near the top rated DL we brought in over the years, but consistently did his part. He was prime for a breakout year in 2022 but an injury really derailed him for about an entire year and he never got the momentum back. Morgan must think we can help him take the next step. 10 pounds smaller than D Brown probably, same height. Really solid run stopper. Should be able to be a rotational guy for us, probably won't be on the field much on 3rd and long

We need depth a rotational guys as well. If he can carve out a role then I say welcome aboard big guy.

We apparently do not see C as a need.  The DT is a good rotational DT that can plug things up and attract a double team--I see that as a potential need.

I don't think it wasn't necessarily viewed as a non need as much as they didn't fall they way they had hoped.  At least it didn't for me. I have no idea how this team had these guys ranked. Let's hope Plan A works until they can look again next year.
