What does the NFL stand for?  Bryce has already been paid most of his money on his contract. We are back on the first round next year, so if we suck again we have are pick of whoever the best player is. Canales has no attachment to any players already here, firing another coach will make tepper look even worse than he already does. Jets gave up on wilson quickly,  niners gave up on trey lance when they invested even more. Bryce isn't on the pedestal yall think he is on and you forget the nfl can change like the wind at anytime.

They gave up after 3 seasons with him.

I know they’d never do it to Bryce, and don’t hate on me for saying this. But if Rattler is there… I’d take him. Let him know that Bryce is the guy, but why not?

They could sign him as a udfa. Unless someone just has to have him and use a 7th on him. He's no threat to take anyone's job.

Only from teams who stopped doing research.

I think after the first two days I guess the figured " fug it we've done enough. Let's just go home"

Typically day 3 of the draft is for churning the bottom of rosters. Ours is so bad that someone might actually get to play this season.

The a Steelers are having a helluva draft

They usually find 3 or 4 good players in every draft. That's why they can afford to let good players walk when they want big contracts. It's a bold strategy so you better have an eye for talent.

Brooks was definitely BPA but I am curious how our stable plays out. Chubba deserves to be here in my opinion. He’s like a slightly more athletic Nick Goings. If Sanders shows out early I wonder if someone becomes trade bait.

A tandem of Chubba and Brooks would be really solid.

I doubt anyone trades for any of our current RB's. Brooks is Sanders replacement in waiting. The only thing that Sanders has left to hope for is to beat out Chubba for a spot.

I thought so too. Still interesting Bills moved back 1 to take Coleman instead, that's gonna be interesting to watch shake out

They decided who was a better scheme fit for them just like the Panthers did. The Bills were going to trade down with someone and Dan wanted his guy. If the Bills had stayed put we would have also. Dan didn't want to risk the Bills trading with someone who was going to take Legette. It's that simple.

You dont have prospects you like or dislike going in to the draft?  Some people prefer certain measurables or strengths on tape than others.

No. I never get caught up in that stuff. I stopped watching college football years ago. It's more fun just to watch it unfold and see how it is when the season is over. In the end that's all that matters anyway.

I just don't want him on a low snap count all year. I hope you're right but I fear they're using Sanders as a premium insurance policy.

Sanders is only here because his contract dictate it. He will get the majority of rotation snaps until they feel Brooks is ready to go full speed. Whenever that is Sanders will be benched unless he shows out this season. Brooks will eventually replace someone. My bet its Sanders and not Blackshear.

I definitely agree no one knows for sure for years down the road but it is pretty proven by now most of our drafts have been terrible the past few years.  Some people love all these prospects some dont and it changes nothing about what they will actually end up being.  I think its just as reasonable for the people who didnt like a prospect to explain their reasoning as it is for the people who do like said prospect.

Well at this point in time I cannot understand why one would have either position. There's no reason to love or hate the selections. That should be determined after the season.

I think there's a few things they take into consideration (not exclusively or in order):

    1) what he brings today

    2) what he can bring tomorrow

    3) is he coachable

    4) does he have that dawg in him

I do think that the greater focus and weight, though, needs to be and probably is on 2-4 of those. What they can bring day 1 is important, but you've got to have a longer view than that.

We want day 1 starters (which is why I think some are pissed), but what's more important is that they are long term big time contributors.

I think they took the long term view with Wallace,  but I also think that we will see flashes of why he was taken when he was.

Which is what we saw in a the other LBs we've taken and who have taken on dominant roles over the years.

Thomas Davis was a frustrating (for fans) project initially because they couldn't decide whether he was going to be a safety or linebacker. Beason and Kuechly both started off on the outside.

Point is, they didn't start off in the role that they were initially planned for ...and it was ok. They grew into those roles.

And we will co time to bitch and moan until proven wrong. What have the leaders of this org done lately to show us otherwise?  That have royally screwed up at every turn, why stop now?

Well bitching about this draft is premature. No prospect has played a down in the nfl yet and you will not know how any of them will do until they have played a full season or two. It just the way it goes for the majority of draft picks. Most take time to adjust. A few show something right away but that doesn't mean they will stay that way.

Were you also bothered by people bitching and moaning about the past few drafts?  Because I've got news for you, they should have been.

I laughed just as I am now. It is what it is. The draft is a crap shoot and  no 2 teams boards are the same. None follow the draftniks rankings. So thinking it was good or bad will only show itself after a season or two.

They are getting the players they have been interested in all offseason. We met with XL what 5-6 times? We brought in Brooks knowing he was the top RB in the draft. Wallace fits exactly what Evero wants from the ILB position. He is raw but can learn behind Shaq and replace him next year. We clearly liked him over every other LB not named Cooper or Colson.
People comparing Wallace to DJ are short sighted. We panicked and moved up for DJ because there was a run on edge rushers and not many were left. We traded back and let the draft fall to us and picked Wallace over Wilson and Grey. We were clearly high on him. 2 completely different scenarios and two different positions. Plus Wallace is is young and Johnson was older.

Fitterer was going to trade up sooner for Johnson had Dan not been able to convince him to wait. Fitterer panicked like you said and jumped because the edge run scared him. Fitterer always panicked.
