It should be all OL. If we can get 3 LEGIT starters out of this draft we might have a chance at not sucking.

But I agree, Rule doesn't have the luxury of developing a young QB (not that he's capable of it anyway) and he also can't risk drafting a QB and hoping he's ready to go out of the gate. So QB probably won't be the pick at 6.

All that to say.... Our first pick will probably be another corner.

There is not a single qb in this draft that can start from day one. Hell there wasn't one in last year's draft. Jones started out of necessity not because he was ready.  But yes, Rhule will pick a defensive player most likely.

There are two possible feelings you can come away with after reading that...

One: Thomas might be better than we thought

Two: McAdoo might not be as good as we hoped

Guess we'll see which one is true in a few months.

There is prior evidence that cast number 1 in doubt.

Number 2 has prior evidence to confirm as well.

    Tough call.

I could get on board with this.

Probably worth remembering that Matt Rhule is a big Donte Jackson fan though.

Rhule being a big fan of underachieving players is a common theme.  This team is going to be so much worse after he leaves than when he got here. Dark days ahead.

No, I heard all of it, but the "keeping the dialogue open" comment was just a throwaway.  The takeaway was they were letting him test the market first and basically if he got a great offer we weren't going to touch it.  Sounds like we have a set number we would bring him back at, and if he gets better than that on the market then we won't attempt to match.

What's wrong with that? That should've been the approach with Ian Thomas.

I don’t understand this management. Trade for a hometown guy, who just so happens to arguably be the best CB in the game, only get to use him for a handful of games, and you don’t bring him back. I’m not saying that’s what happened, but I wouldn’t put it past this team. Gilmore>Djax and it should be Gilmore coming back. He actually wants to be here, bless his heart.

It's not the franchise, it's Rhule.  He runs everything, remember?  He calls all the shots with the roster, draft and FA.  What you see is his creation and his alone.

It could be he's honoring his end of the argument with Rhule. It takes time.  We saw progress the first season, and the second was not, so in the eyes of us fans, we're going backwards.  Most wholesale system changes take 3 years.  Perhaps he's just allowing Rhule that time.  It's the opposite of what we see in the rest of the league,  because so many owners are willing to rip coaches out a year or 2 into a process that takes longer.

I'm not advocating for Rhule, just trying to make sense of it all.

One would hope that what you described is what is going on. But I admit that it would be the best case scenario.  I shudder to think what is actually going on in his head.

I'd really like for somebody to tell me that we're not actually going to try and use Ian Thomas more in the passing game 😬

What in his 5 years of playing leads them to believe he will ever be more than he's been so far? What makes this guy so special? Nothing, that's what .

  9. If you guys haven't figured it out yet, no matter whoever Rhule brings in it will be the wrong guy.  You can argue over who would be the best choice all you want. It will not matter.  He could sign Tom Brady and somehow it would end in disaster.  Not to mention whoever it is will cost us dearly, even scrub FA's.

Face it people we are cursed with that guy calling the shots.

Why keep a coaching staff/FO when you know this is what they will be dealing with? It's a lose/lose situation with predetermined results. Just not getting the reluctance to fire Rhule and suffer through a handicapped season.

It's all self inflicted. The FO, or lack thereof, is how they got to this rock bottom fiasco we are staring at.

It all sounds like excuse making. The disfunction starts at the top and seeps down into every decision this unqualified staff makes.

  11. Moore is wasted here. This team mismanages talented players like no other.  So far he has not been paired with an OC or QB that knew how to get him the ball in space.  DJ is lethal in space. He has yet to have a qb that can hit him in stride. Yet he still gets 1200 yrds/season.

You just don't see the same visceral reaction when an NCSU player is brought up. If there's an NCSU player who can help us out, hell yeah! Bring him in. But a UNC player gets brought up and the ABCers complain for pages on end about how these imaginary UNC fanboys are ruining the forum. 😂

I spent a lot of years in Greensboro before moving to the mountains and one common statement I always heard there when anyone mentioned "Carolina ".  F*** Carolina!!! GO NC STATE!!!  Being from Kentucky I naturally agreed. Everyone hates Duke.
