Have you ever taken on a project or volunteered for something only to find out what a huge mistake you've made?  Too much to do, not enough help etc?

If you could just ignore it and face no consequences its safe to say you'd entertain the idea.

Tepper has more money than God and this clusterfug isnt fun anymore.  Billionaires dont do hard.

He could at least pay someone competent enough to do hard.

I'm not sure who he's listening to behind the scenes but whomever it is they should gtfo.

Nah bruh he sees it.  He knows it.

The question is, Does he give a damn?

This has me baffled.  It's as if he's trolling Rhule and the fans.

I want to believe that Tepper is working behind the scenes to secure someone competent to help clean this mess up before he pulls the trigger on Rhule. Although that would be a crappy thing to do to Rhule if he's ultimately going to fire him anyway.

It's either that or as you say he simply doesn't give a flying f#%k.

    That's...not good.

I still remember scratching my head when I heard that the Cardinals hired  a guy who had been fired from his college coaching job.

...and the Panthers managed to find a way to do even worse in selecting a college coach.

Then build around that.  Surround him with larger LBs who can take on blocks.  Make sure the other primary edge defender opposite of him isn't also an undersized speed rusher.

No player is going to be perfect.  Burns is too good of a pass rusher.  And again, he's only 23... he has time to get better against the run.  You just don't trade a guy like him at his age and with his skill-level.

Can you name any recent example of a team trading a DE at Burns' age and his skill-level (unless said player requested trade)?

It just doesn't happen.  Burns not being an all-around player doesn't mean you get rid of him.  It means you take that into consideration when building the rest of your team.  Because chances are, the 1st round pick you get back for Burns won't be better than Burns unless its in the top 10.  And no team is trading a top 10 pick for Burns.

You don't build a defense around an undersized defensive end.  He's good but not that good.

But why?  An edge pass rusher is one of the most important pieces in the NFL.  Burns isn't perfect, but he's absolutely one of the best in the NFL at getting after the QB.  He's 23 years old.  He has so much time in the world to get better seeing as most DEs don't hit their peak until around 26-28.

I could understand trading him for players.  But you don't trade a productive 23 year old DE for draft picks.  You just don't.  And I can't think of any team in recent memory that has done it.  Jared Allen only got traded because of all his off-the-field issues.  And KC continued to suck after, because picks aren't guaranteed.

He's terrible against the run and is too small to be a 3 down defensive end.

He didn't trash him, but he intimated that he was better than advertised because of Herbert's mobility. That's a bad look into itself, but he threw it out there after a somewhat weak attempt to rationalize his whiff. It was clownish. I'd respect Rhule more if he admitted his mistakes as opposed to trying to justify everything. He talks as though he's some accomplished head coach in the league that everyone should listen to because he's that guy. I don't see any humility in this guy, and that's a problem for a coach that ain't done poo except make a lot of questionable if not outright bad decisions.

The only way to get through to someone like Tepper is $$$.

I’ve come to accept that he’s just waiting to can Rhule the Monday after the 22 season when we’re not on the hook for Darnold, have all of our draft picks except the 6 rounder, and hopefully Brady retires. With the amount of vacancies and more desirable franchises, we’d get the worst hire whereas next year we might get someone with a damn.

You need to add a few more $$$'s to that for it to really matter.

You know, if he turns out to be solid at a CB spot, that is actually a good way to look at the deal.

It's the only way to look at it. That's how our GM does. The draft is one resource that is not always limited to the current draft of course.

Most get caught up in the future 1st round pick trades but the later round picks get ignored.  You can use those in various ways as well. Like picking up former 1st round pick reclamation projects. Some workout some don't.
