If they want a QB why would they say they want a QB?  Just increases the chance someone will trade in front of them to grab the QB.

I’m not convinced they will draft a QB but I’m not going to put much stock in a quote in February.

Fans on here will cling to anything that gives them hope that this will mean they get a QB.  Everything said this time of year by the teams is just stuff to make other teams think they won't.

I like Rhule as a HC, not as a HC in charge. Not sure how Fritters fits in but there are plenty of reasons to doubt. This trade with thr amount of time he has had to take in the team leaves me concerned about thr level of dumb incoming.

Fitts is well known for his scouting background so I'm sure he has scouted damn near every player drafted by someone at some point.  I am sure he also has knowledge of the guys already on the team a good deal better than we do.  It doesn't take long for him and Rhule to discuss the teams current needs and anyone that has watched more than a couple of our games can obviously see where the weakest links are.

I say we give this new crew some time to put it all together before we declare it a failure right out of the gate.

  3. You guys ever thought that maybe that's what the team wants everyone to think?  That maybe it will generate interest in some team wanting to trade for pick number 8?

You guys suck at poker.  Please don't play for money.

Yes Rhule is the HC and all signs point to him having control to some degree. He still has people working under him that can be analyzed.

Right now the relationship between Rhule and Fitterer is labeled as a partnership.  Rhule runs the "process" and the players on the field. Fitt is charged with finding said players.  In theory if they are always able to come to mutual agreement on the major personnel decisions with each focusing on the important part of their perspective roles it should go smoothly.

At least that's what I got from it.  Tepper rights the checks so he's the boss.

We'll see. Throwing shade at Teddy at every turn and being heavily involved in QB trade talks is either heavy telegraphing or the most elaborate smokescreen in NFL history.

I admit I don't get the strategy towards Teddy.  How they are handling that situation is puzzling to say the least.

That’s a hurndog move for sure.

but I do think rhule likes what he sees in Jones.   Does that mean we will draft him, probably not but damn this week produced some smoke.

There is always a lot a smoke and gamesmanship going on this time of year.  I don't put much stock in coach speak anyway, especially this time of year.

Yeah every time he has something good about someone they were cut lol, so that’s good news for Jones.

Just throwing it out there.  You have to take that praise with a grain of salt.  It's good for the players egos but it means nothing about what he really has planned.

Rhule and company had a week to get to know whatever they wanted to about Jones. They publicly raved about him, though that doesn't necessarily mean they'd draft him at number eight.

The feeling it gives me though is that if they do (or don't) I'm probably gonna trust that decision.

I'm beginning to think that if Rhule raves about a player it means absolutely nothing in getting a sense of his direction.  It's a good strategy to be honest because it throws off the competition to your thinking.

If we see a top QB at #8 we will take it . If there is no top QB at # 8 we trade down a few spots for more picks and still get Mac Jones a little later .  Not playing Jones in the senior bowl maybe because he was dinged up gives us an edge because Rhule watched him in practice and met him up close . If we pick him it will be because Rhule believes in him .

I can see a situation where they stay at 8 and take bpa then go after Newman later in the draft to serve as a project behind Teddy this season.  There are so many ways this could play out that it makes my head spin.

We've been so aggressively sending signals that we've done with Teddy that we've pretty much painted ourselves into a corner. We know we're done with him. He knows he's done here. The entire locker room knows there's zero confidence in Teddy.

Pretty much.  It will be interesting to see how the manage this awkward situation going forward.

I am wrong about the draft (when a few years have passed) that I do not pretend to know more than the team scouts.  I was wrong about Cam, Luke, CMC.  Right about Thomas Davis (good pick--I defended him) and Kelvin Benjamin.

I do not try to predict how these guys will pan out.  It is a total crapshoot with these players almost every time.  There is no such thing as a sure fire lock in this league.  There's too many variables that effect the outcome to predict with any certainty.

Familiar to me in this case because that's the phrase I've seen used to describe how Brad Holmes felt about Goff when he was with the Rams.

It also is reminiscent of the events that took place in our FO last off-season.  I would love it if we could trade Grier to the WTF team for anything, a pick, a player, a hot sandwich, anything.
