He did so great against the Chiefs that second half....  Seriously though why are they picking a defensive minded coach to help Kyler Murray??

Because Kyler thinks he's so smart he should be the HC, OC and the QB as well. The Colts and Arizona jobs are the worst possible jobs in the nfl. But I hear the money is good at least.

You have to wonder with this new coaching staff in place... if we go get a veteran QB like Carr ... its bc this group wanted it.

I wonder if a huddle meltdown would follow if that were to occur....

I would not be thrilled at the thought of going with another cast-off again.  But what can I do about? It is what it is.

I'm no QB guru so I am the wrong person to ask to identify who would be "the one".  😂

Whomever Reich and Josh pick out, I will trust their judgement and hope their choice ends up being the right one.

I want to see some Playoff games again.

Well I'm going on the assumption that the "target" might be out of reach and plan B has become the realistic target.  They will say it was their Plan A from the beginning but I'm not buying it.

  4. Well I was one that thought we should have hired Reich before he went to the Colts.  So of course I'm OK with it. He was a perfect fit then and I will maintain he is a perfect fit now. Will he be the answer at HC for years to come? I do not know. I think he has the best resume of the folks we've interviewed save maybe, maybe Caldwell.  So yeah, I'm on board until he proves my faith unjustified.

Will Carr want to sign with a team when he knows it won’t be long term? (Don’t worry I read your post and know you just mention Carr as an option.)

Seems like Carr will want a long term deal and going to a team that wants him for 1 or 2 seasons doesn’t seem like what he wants.

I think, if we sign a vet, it will be someone who won’t mind becoming the backup when we start our rookie. Carr probably doesn’t want to be a backup.

I still think Tampa and Saints are more likely South teams to sign Carr because both would like to sign him long term.

All true.  But right now I cannot rule that out. With Tepper I would not rule out anything.

I’m no fan of Levis but if that’s who they choose, that’s who they choose

he reminds me, frightenly of Wentz

I'm just spitballing here. The reason I said Levis is twofold. 1.) The rumor that Tepper already was looking at him before this past season played out and.. 2.) They know that trading up for Stroud is not likely.

So I'm going with the realistic options for now. A lot of things will happen before the draft gets here so I reserve the right to change my prognostication at a later date.

Would be a very good idea with the amount of coaches that get poached every year. Also, if this tree is successful, we will be a favorable destination for up and coming coaches and coordinators.

I like the fact they are training their replacement.  If they get signed to another team for a promotion their replacement is already on staff and can keep rolling.  I'm think Stanley is slated to be Frank's replacement should he retire or get fired?

Well I wish Reich all the luck in the world in finding that QB 'cause if he does, it would be tremendous luck for him and for all of us.

That's the target. So if you want to try to guess who they will target I would suggest you start with those parameters.

    True.

Although something tells me I don't think he'd mind it if it were less than that so long as it led to a win.

'Cause let's be honest :  Big time throws or not, it's the end result of the game that matters.

I mean...A QB can make 10 big time throws per game and still lose those games, you know?  🧐

Especially if the Defense craps the bed....grrrrrr..  (and yeah..I'm thinking of the Tampa game 1000% here in this regard)

They will not settle for less unless they absolutely have to for the time being.  The starter will have to satisfy all those criteria to stay the starting qb for the Panthers.

Love it. Basically polar opposite to Rhule's approach, which is good. I'm taking it slow with hyping up the team and our prospects this season just based on assistant coaches but I can't find anything to complain about with Reich's staff so far. Now let's get us Carr for the near future, Stroud/Young/Levis for the mid/long term, fill some of the other gaps in free agency. NFCS is so wide open if we can do that we could dominate the division for years to come.

My early guess is that they target Levis in round 1 after signing someone like Carr, if they cannot get a trade partner or the cost is too rich its onto Plan B.

Plan B will look something trading back into the bottom 3rd of round 1 and take a guy like Hooker or someone in that tier.

Plan C is to just go with Carr (insert vet here) and Corral this season and get someone to compete with Corral for the starting role before Carr (vet qb) is cut loose.

    Or none of the above.

I mean, Bears have indicated their pick is for sale.  So there is a pick that can be had at the very top.  Would Carolina pay the price?  I doubt it.

There also are about 5 teams ahead of us that need a future QB as well.  Bears would probably prefer to deal whoever is further down though.  Because the haul will be more insane.  And those teams ahead of us could drive up the price to make the Lance trade seem modest lol.

Best case scenario, is Stroud and Young get hammered by the NFL machine like most Ohio State and Bama QBs have been.

The Bears will get a hall for that pick and we cannot even entertain trading for that pick. Had we say, traded someone for some 1st round picks we could be in the driver's seat. But muh defense needs a star. I got news for them, they still don't have a star.

I think the safest approach is to wait and see.  If it's Levis and Young going 1 and 2 then we can look at trading up to 3 with AZ which should be less of a haul and so on depending if Stroud drops.  For example say we won't give up more than next year's first plus our 9 and maybe some mids to move up for him.

To move up you first have to have a trade partner.  What do you do if you cannot get someone to trade with you? You cannot go into the draft counting on trading up. I certainly hope they have a better plan than "we are trading up". There better be a plan B and C in place before the drfat starts. I'm telling you this trade up idea is a pipedream.

Fitterer and Morgan will discuss with Reich what he wants.

I'm sure they will. It still doesn't give me the warm fuzzy feeling that Fitterer has final say on the 53. After the Darnold deal I guess I'm a little gun shy. Especially with Carr out there.
