  1. Great to hear from you Scot. Sorry to hear about your health problems my friend. Hope you get through them soon and back to your old self.

Like you I'm curious to see who's left on the board at 33 tomorrow after the dust settles. And like you I would love to see them grab a top center for the future if they get the chance. I'm not a big fan of moving an aging and injury ladened guard to center and counting on him to get you through a season. That's asking for trouble.

    Keep Pounding my friend

I've already said this before, but I think it's worth mentioning again. Not only do we have high draft choices in round 2 (#33 and #39) we also have the first pick in round 3. With all of the holes on our team, we should come come out of this draft with 3 starters with our first 3 picks...or at worst 2 starters and a player who shows enough promise to start in 2025 and contributes significantly in 2024. Anything less would be a major disappointment.

I would not count on that happening. I doubt anyone will be starting no matter who is selected.  Hopefully they will be in the rotation on game day but I seriously doubt any rookie they take beyond the 2nd round will see the field this season unless this coaching staff can work miracles. It's either that or Dan Morgan is a frickn genius at finding talent.

I mean, I would draw a distinct difference between the Richardson and Tepper Panthers.  We were inconsistent under Jerry.  Sadly, we are VERY consistent under Tepper.

Jerry at least managed to keep the team mediocre. When they managed to get lucky he could put together a 1 year wonder. Dave cannot even stumble into putting together 1 mediocre team much less a 1 time playoff team. Sad situation in BOA.

I mean, back when we actually drafted decent (I mean, people bash Hurney but his drafts were decent vs the field).....we still went to 2 Super Bowls largely off his picks.  To win a championship requires luck.  Lot of athletes talk about that.  It's not just being good.  We got unlucky in twice in the Super Bowl.  But we built 2 different Super Bowl teams.

We have sucked drafting lately.  It's been about 1 legit player per draft.  It doesn't have to be that way.  We proved that before.  But yeah, I have little doubt in the Tepper era we can pull much off......outside of just blind luck.

Building a team to make a run at 1 SB win is doable if you have a bit of luck. Building a team to be in the playoffs every year is much more than luck. It takes a great to solid FO and coaching staff. That doesn't happen a 1 or 2 off seasons. It takes years of solid drafting and wish cap allocations. We have not had any of that since inception.  Luck got us to 2 SB's. Bad management has kept them from sustainable success.

Beason, Kalil, Charles Johnson plus a Rosario Dawson.

    Morgan, Jenkins, Smitty

    Peppers, Foster, Spoon

Several with 2.  Luke and Norman, KK and Star, Williams and Anderson, Stew and Otah

Recently we have sucked.  But we used to get multiple legit starters in drafts

Used to. And this proves my point. The best drafts theyve had still couldn't produce a championship level team. And all those guys produced how many back to back winning seasons? How many times did they help win the nfcs? That's right, it doesn't matter until they figure out how to add more than 2 or 3 good players every half decade or so. It takes a complete team built over the long haul to compete every season, not just compete every decade or so.  They have to do that EVERY draft.

You talking starters in terms of rookie season or overall?

I mean we have had drafts with multiple pro bowlers for us and landing 3 or 4 legit starters  for us.  Not the norm but it’s happened a time or two

In how many drafts? Just because they are forced to start doesn't make them pro bowl level either.  I cannot remember a single draft that the Panthers got multiple pro bowl players from one draft. If they did its been so long ago and uneventful that it wasn't worth remembering. So yeah, it's rare that the Panthers had even a decent draft beyond the 1st round. One good draft will not fix this team. I stand by that even if they miraculously find players that turn into something.

ISM is just a body.  We were his 3rd team in 3 years and he hasn't done anything.

basically, it's Theilen, Johnson, and Mingo.  Everyone else could go and it just be business.  I mean, technically we got 8 WRs under contact I think right now.

I guess there is a question on David Moore, I'm not sure if all the info is up on the salary sites.  But it looks like they could even cut if they wanted to.  It doesn't look like he has any guaranteed money.

What Morgan should be focusing on it getting the best players from the draft group that is available to him this year. If that happens to be a defensive player he shouldn't pass on the guy just because he needs offensive talent. Especially if what's available for offensive help is not on the same level of said defensive player. It just comes down to who's still on the board when he picks. Not every position need can or will be addressed in this draft. It simply will not happen because no team is that lucky for one thing and this team is in bad, really bad shape. Secondly, no draft is filled with enough talent to allow for any team to walk away with more than one possible starter and one or two contributors in any one draft. I think everyone needs to curb their expectations about this year's draft.

i'm just ready for the draft.

tired of the this is who we should draft threads

looking forward to the WTF are you doing threads.  or the check out this highlight I just found of this player I never heard of before we just drafted, that is 100% going to be Steve Smith part deux or Luke Kuechly reborn.  Sprinkle in some I'm done with this team or call me crazy but I think we can the make the playoffs, you got to think of the division we are in ones.

That sums this place up perfectly. It happens every year and will continue on long after we're gone.

someone told me once the best way to eat fish is eat the meat, leave the bones. take the good stuff and be happy for it and leave the bad stuff behind.

now if i was in a position to make change happen, then it would be important for me to pay more attention to the bones. as a fan, though, i don't bear that responsibility. i don't need it. i don't want it. i've got enough on me as it is. i need to have things in my life that give me an escape from all of that (not that i need to escape from my life, it's actually quite good) but i have to make a lot of decisions and be hyper critical in other areas of my life.

i'm quite happy to leave that stuff to guys that get paid to do it while i sit back and try to enjoy as much as i can.

    That's my philosophy as well.

it's not being positive just to be positive. it's looking for reasons to be positive because i hate feeling like crap about the team. until this iteration of the panthers proves otherwise, i choose to believe that they can figure out a way to not suck and actually be fun to watch again.

and superfan...lol. i'm just a guy that always tries to look for the good.

This is where I'm at. If it begins to upset my mood I do not need to be involved with it. The whole state of the franchise has become quite amusing to me. I find enjoyment when there's something positive that happens, no matter how small.  I've learned to laugh at the negative elements that exist because that's how bad it's gotten. I've become accustomed to expect the worst and count anything positive as a blessing. It is what it is - old Foxy

really looking forward to preseason, I hope Canales is going to be bringing a fresh offensive take to Carolina that doesn't look like Tampa on repeat.  I think we need to be doing some different things given our QB and WR setup.

I would not judge the offense by how it looks in preseason.  It will be vanilla.  Having said that, last preseason definitely was a foreshadowing of things to come.  So who knows.

if the guy calling the shots won't listen to anyone else because he thinks he knows more than anyone else, it's hard to convince him of anything.

from the way it sounds, there wasn't much communication going on between scouting department and coaches until this year.

they are doing things differently this year. doesn't matter that some of the players are the same because the big dogs at the top calling the shots the last few years aren't there (except maybe tepper and he's being quiet).

that, on it's own, is enough for some optimism. the problem wasn't the scouts. it was the decision makers.
