The thing about Rivera that bothers me is the thing I liked most about him in the beginning--his press conferences.
Just this year, he compared AJ Klein to Luke Keuchly. Last week, he likened (indirectly) Sproles to Barner.
I hate that he spews statistics such as the team's mathematical method for grading players and does not play the odds during games. If you have an 80% chance to win a game on 4th down, especially if not getting the first down means the other team is likely to play for a tie--you take that chance. Don't sit there and tell me that Hardy had a good game because he was a factor in 1/3.44 plays per game and the norm for DE's is 7.3. If you understand numbers, then play the odds and do the math.

This could be a commitment to Cam. Who on this staff has experience running an offense with a dual-threat QB?
And look at this:
Seifert from a California team
Rivera from a California team
Eerie.

Good--Rivera is awesome when he is about to be fired,

Iwill say it: This is a MUST WIN, probably for both teams.
We need to run the ball and they are stingy in that area. Barner could play a role. Cam will have 70 yards rushing.
Panthers 24-10
I think we have turned the corner, however, Rivera is still the coach. We had a bye, are on the road 2500 miles from home, and the Beason trade could be a distraction. Can he pull the troops together and get them firing on all cylinders?
Please.

It is my fault he is getting traded... Just got my new 52 jersey in the mail last week!!!
I hope the move to New York kick starts his career and he does well!
It will be a classic. Not to worry.

We should also remember how Jon handled Luke coming in here and taking his spot. He could not have handled that situation with more class.
I look forward to the day Beason has his number retired here.
I talked to Beason after he was first moved to OLB a few years ago. He was positive and upbeat. Then he sang Luke's praises and accepted a lesser role.
He was with Davis throughout his rehab.
Beason will be better in the middle, but I have to wonder how his body has held up through several years of the pounding a MLB gets.
I hope he fires that Defense up in NY and takes it to the Saints, Falcons, and Bucs. He will bring them knowledge and leadership.

Now go out and punish the rest of the NFC South when you play them.

Ginn runs about 60% of the route tree, all vertical routes and the comebacks for the most part. He simply was not a good fit with Smith and Moore/Henne before that--the system was part of it, the QB's arm strength was the other. Ginn should never be a #2 because he does not run all of the routes. However, he is awesome as the third or fourth WR.

I have not seen them all, but I can say that they upgraded this year.

Taste the meat not the heat
For those of you just joining this thread, this was in reference to cooking steaks and in no way has any other meaning.

Panthers 20, Giants 16.
Rivera is undefeated in "my ass is on the line" games.

Panthers will (I bet there is a thread for this, but I am rebelling against the norm. My shrink said it was OK):
get 4 sacks
get 2 interceptions
score 4 TDs
win 34-17.
Lafell, Ginn, and Tolbert will have bigger roles. 2 will score TDs. I am not telling which two. That is a secret.
Luke will get 15 tackles, and one of the interceptions. He could also recover a fumble, or he could not recover a fumble. I am certain about one of them.
Watch for an unsuspecting hero.
I do not want to spoil the outcome any more than this.

It has been long three days since the Seattle game. I have watched the Williams fumble like six times
Today is the first day I feel back to normal, and now getting pumped for Sunday.
This is s big game. Both teams need this win. I imagine a very hard fought chippy game.
Hopefully we can confuse and aggravate a rookie QB and force him into some mistakes.

paper puppets pathetically perpetuating the practice of pomposity.
When Zod uses alliteration, he means business.

I know he mows Mr. Richardson's lawn, but Bersin could be one of those players who makes a difference.

really wish I knew how many cuts were left, naka has to be next.
I think he makes the team. Sadly.

Jets will pick up clausen.
Or Raiders.
I wish I could remember, but after his rookie season, I compared Clausen to Sanchez. Some crackhead started berating me, telling me how good Sanchez is.
Clausen was no fit in this offense--question is, is he a fit in any?'

I like to watch the third and fourth quarters to see the roster battles. There are some players on this team who could make it or could go to the PS until they are ready. Names I am interested in: DE Roh, Chandler at T, CB White (I would LOVE to see them look at him at FS), Lester, Gettis, Adams, Kugbila (who will be ugly if he plays), Cameron, Fua at UT, etc.

With Stew out, we have a short yardage back, a change-of-pace, third down back, and an everydown back. Never had those options before.

If this is true, and I do not doubt it, I love Dorsey.

A mature Cam does not some how make Nakamura not suck ass and blow the game in ATL, nor does it stop the refs from cheating us out of the Dallas game or Smitty from slipping against Chicago.
But the fact that we have been lack luster the past 2 years does mean it's time for Cam and the team to get down to business.
Just shows how close we were with a "less than mature" Cam. He gets it now.

I can't wait, Im gonna be heading down there Thrusday from Raleigh, first time at camp!
Take a hat, bug spray, and binoculars. Have fun.

Interesting comment (I agree 100%) about Cam's maturity. It is noticeable and it was needed. So many people on here got mad and had hissy fits when I suggested (last year) that he needed to grow up. Some held their breath in protest, while others trashed their parents' basement.
I honestly believe that Cam is the reason we have not been repeating as a 2-14 team. An immature Cam has been good for 4 wins a season, maybe 5. A mature Cam who is a leader could get us to the playoffs.

Beason is class. I met him once and he was very impressive as a human being and a leader. He made me want to suit up. Beason is a person who is going to get the most out of his teammates. I hope he restructures his contract because he is going to be a pretty expensive OLB.
Love the words about Kuechly. How hard was it to watch a rookie take your spot?
Panthers Begin Head Coach Search?

No, not breaking anything to me, but there are a lot of variables he is in control over that contribute to "luck." And he does what a lot of coaches would do and gets crucified when he fails. However, the Buffalo game should have been a no-brainer simply because if you make it you probably win, if you don't you probably tie (they would played for the safe FG instead of having a rookie QB throwing into the endzone).
If Rivera and Bill Billichek or Jim Harbaugh or Tom Coughlin or Mike Sherman or Bill Parcells etc. sat down to play a game of chess, how often would you bet on Rivera? Crazy analogy on the surface, but I want a smart person who takes calculated risks. A person who has seen other strategies before. A person who can adjust. A person who thinks 2 moves ahead.
None of those are Ron Rivera, it would seem. I hope he wins 10 games this year and people throw this post in my face. I could live with that.
