  1. So you think you are a better GM than Morgan? Interesting. It must be frustrating for you.
  2. That CB from Iowa can play the nickel for us and he would be great at it. He can play outside. He can play safety. He can tackle and he is a ball hawk. He or JPJ (Center) would be great, Gonna call the pick: Saintrisil (CB) or Wilson (LB)
  3. Had Buffalo and KC not traded, it would not have gone down. KC would never give up a 5th year option but Morgan and Beane are buddies, so I really believe that BB threw us a bone.
  4. Seriously--3 starters on defense and a WR on offense--that is 4 of 22 starters. We have had Shi, Travelle, Captain, and a few others.
  5. By the way, Cam was great today. Perfect for the red carpet.
  6. Even when Canales said, "We tell that (we are picking you) to everyone" it was as if he was trying to hide his cards after dropping them on the table. That was a rumor that proved to be true. The other rumor is the Panthers will take Mike Saintrisil. if that comes true, they have a problem.
  7. How can you know that you are right? A: You can't. So you didn't like the pick--can you support the team and the player?
  8. Nobody can really understand this pick until the see the offense and how he will be used. So bitching is premature. XL is high risk high reward--and they did their homework. I am willing to see what he can do
  9. Some just want to bitch. I think this was an incredibly smart move by Morgan--well worth the late round pick swap--and I think XL has a ton of upside and potential--probably more than the others yet to be drafted.
  10. Moving up (trading a fifth rounder for a sixth) gave us a fifth year option--well worth it when you see that WRs are making over $30m now. As for the "better available" comment--not everyone agrees with you. I saw him mocked in the first round by some. He had a wide range. Do you know how or where they plan to use him? 220 lbs, over six feet tall, good hands, and runs a sub 4.4. I get it that he is a bit unknown, but it sounds like the Panthers did their howework. Sounds like he really wants to be here. I think you will change your mind soon.
  11. So give us a technical analysis of XL's limitations and how you have already determined that he is not up to your standards of excellence. I guarantee your response will totally avoid what most would consider a sufficient, intelligent response.
  12. I think its sadly humorous how some Huddlers are already calling him a bust (in so many words). Unreal.
  13. This is the e list i put together. I removed the six players I thought would be drafted before 39: BOLD: Probably gone by 39-- B Cooper DeJean DT Johnny Newton WR Adonai Mitchell WR Ladd McConkey CB Kool-Aid McInstry DT Braden Fisk This is what we have left (approximately). If you want C, and JP-J is there, we are lucky. I do not think they will draft a Center. The best edge is available, but I do not see them pulling that trigger either. The CBs are solid and there are a lot of good ones, but I think the ILB pool is so limited and the best ILBs are possibly available here. There are seven "second tier" CBs listed, and it is probably unlikely that seven CBs go in round 2...meaning that a CB on the second tier level should be there at 65. EDGE Marshawn Kneeland. C Jackson Powers-Johnson CB Enis Rakestraw LB Edgerrin Cooper LB Payton Wilson CB T J Tampa LB Junior Colson CB Max Melton CB Mike Saintrilsil CB Kamari Lassiter Personally, I think I would draft Edgerrin Cooper or Payton Wilson at 39. Then I would draft a CB at 65. I might draft the C instead of a LB, but I am not getting a decent ILB after round 2.
  14. Me too, but someone described how screwed up the situation at SC was--Folks, Xavier wanted to be here--he wanted to be near his remaining family. Great story. I think he will be moved around--like a Deebo. Wonder how much of this is related to the new Kickoff rules--XL was a kick returner.
  15. If KC and Buffalo had not swapped picks, we'd never have moved up. Brandon Bean did his buddy Morgan a solid. Swapping an fifth for a sixth and getting the fifth year option was brilliant--
  16. I made the same comment to my son. When that big OT picked him up (calling it tradition) they had been told not to do that---Goodell looked to be in pain. I wonder if he did not take a pain pill after that.
  17. I agree that Bryce's performance was very poor last year. But I deal with people in my line of work that attack the symptoms and ignore the central problem. Maybe Bryce is the central problem, but maybe most good QBs would have failed miserably here last year.
  18. Height is all everyone here seems to be focused on. Payton describes a process, and Bryce has not been through the process--they will factor his weaknesses and build around his strenghts--that is all Payton is saying. His arm strength is what it is but his accuracy was never the issue at Bama. Here, there are reasons for accuracy issues, such as throwing to covered WRs with a blitz in the face. I am not predicting a miracle recovery, and maybe all we can get from him is what Miami got from Tua....but I want to see the process before writing him off.
  19. Right. Don't treat the draft as if it is the end of all personnel moves. You can still make trades and we have first crack at the waiver wire---and there are the Undrafted free agents---we have a bare bones roster--no sense reaching at any position.
  20. With our needs and the depth of WR in this draft, the smart play could be CB and LB. If you can get a player like Rice, Polk, Corley (possibly), or Walker in the third when you are ulikely to find your LB or maybe CB in round 3, it could be the play. Mingo should improve and we added Johnson. gonna be fun to see what they do, but we are all assuming WR is this huge need, but so are LB and CB.
  21. Cam is taller. Note that Sean Payton says exactly what Canales has been saying. You could argue that he did well with Brees but not Russell, but Russell has been successful at his height and we do not know that was the reason he decided to part ways. While height is a factor, Payton (the QB whisperer) does not seem to be that concerned about it--- Payton said the Saints had two “really good guards” in Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks who helped Brees climb the pocket and find throwing lanes. Payton has coached QBs of various heights and he knows how to help create throwing those lanes. Whether the Broncos land a tall quarterback or a shorter prospect, Payton said it’s Denver’s job to set them up for success. “I do think part of our jobs is to build around the strength of your players,” Payton said. “Even this year, what are the things that we feel like our receivers do well, that ‘Russ’ does well and that the running backs [do well]? That’s our job. And so our offense — and when I say our, [I mean] wherever I’ve been — it has been kind of an evolution of starting with the ingredients we have then building around them. So I think there’s still some things that are paramount today. “At some point, teams are going to make you win from the pocket. We can rush a certain way to keep a quarterback from escaping. We’re going to have to be — wherever you’re at — proficient enough on third down to take a snap, find a throw and protect that spot that you’re referencing, regardless of height. I think oftentimes, these guys are seeing through lanes, not necessarily over them. Certainly for some quarterbacks, that can be a little bit more challenging.” https://sports.yahoo.com/sean-payton-comments-qb-height-100005399.html
  22. I think I posted it on this thread, but Miami might go up and get Penix before the Raidahs. The Broncos could trade back and still get Nix at 21. I see this as a possible move tonight.
