  1. The Canes won more playoff games this year than Dallas has in the last 20.
  2. Was a good season guys. No sense in taking out frustrations on each other. Regardless, I'll be pulling for Dallas or, if they go down, anyone in the West. Fug Boston, Florida and the Rags.
  3. Goalie situation next season will be interesting. Freddie has spent more time losing his footing, falling down and laying on the ice in 4 games than the entire season.
  4. RBA is an intense coach. Seems to me he doesn't instill the idea of playing loose and to your strength. Canes during the playoffs look a lot tighter than during the season.
  5. Canes letting guys cruise the middle with the puck.
  6. You're coming across as just a little desperate..... lol.
  7. Kuznetsov with the early "bird." No winners tonight, boys.
  8. Hey, they win consistently all season long and I consider myself extremely fortunate I can attend a lot of those games and enjoy a lot of wins. Sure, the Cup is a brutal road to win, but I'll appreciate everything this organization gives its fan base. Whatever happens in the second season happens. Not much I can do but wait until October.
  9. Mr. A? "A" for assist. Has he even scored in this series?

  11. Brunette was an interim for Florida when they went to the finals and was not offered the job. Quenneville resigned following the Blackhawk investigation. Cassidy may be the one guy who your argument does apply to during his term with the Bruins. Gallant was canned in NY because the players didn't want him there. Despite an outstanding record, it's not a secret that Rags players were very unhappy with his coaching approach following their playoff exit to the NJ Devils and subsequent player exit interviews.
  12. Let's get real. Without emotion, let's just be honest businessmen here. RBA is not going to accept a 1-year deal and I don't think Dundon or Waddell will disrespect him by offering such a thing. It's a pretty well-known idea that RBA wants deals for all of his assistants tied to his contract. In reality, I'm not sure why any of his assistants would want that risking a potential HC gig elsewhere, but so be it. Remember, the NHL is absolutely atrocious when it comes to retreading head coaches. "Let Rod walk" and get who, exactly? Craig Berube? Don Granato, Jay Woodcroft or Todd McLellan? I can honestly say you'd likely see Granato or McLellan- both of whom come from teams not that much different than Carolina in Buffalo and Los Angeles. Personally, I'd be a little surprised if RBA left under any circumstance other than his own decision. NHL coaches don't get canned for losing in the playoffs, they get fired for not getting to the playoffs when someone (front office) thought they should. I will say this- if RBA does leave before decisions are made with respect to Guentzel, Kuznetsov, Pesce, Skjei, and Necas; and the possible retirement decisions of Burns and Staal; it will signal a rebuild and it will also mean a few very good players are going to leave who many of us thought would be re-signed at all costs.
  13. Anyone at the game who can accurately guess the numbers of Rags fans?
  14. Practice what, exactly? Passing the puck 5v4 around the perimeter and taking shots from distance with no net front? I'd say they've got that down pretty well.
  15. No more OT "Call the Shot." Kuznetsov scratched, Noesen benched. Both of them were top 10 in assists and goals for Carolina in OT this season. 'Nuff said.
  16. Here's why I went with Vasi: Vasy is a proven playoff performer, known for clutch saves and stealing games for the Lightning. The Rangers have a decent offense, but Vasilevskiy has the experience and skill to shut them down. Of course, anything can happen in the playoffs, but I believe Vasi has a good shot at a shutout in this first game. Now, here are some additional points to consider for future picks: You can analyze recent goaltender performances and team matchups. Injuries to key players on either side could impact the offensive firepower and increase the shutout chances for the opposing goalie. Remember, it's just one pick per game, so choose wisely! Whatever the fug this is... mods please delete and block. Obviously spam...
  17. The Canes are 9-8 in OT playoff games going back to Bill Peter's last year as head coach.
  18. It won't be home ice. I guarantee that the arena will be half Rags fans as Canes fans are selling their seats as we speak after losing the first 2. Look, facts are facts. The Rags aren't that good 5v5. They are a 2-line team and can't match the Canes speed. But all of that is nullified by bad penalties and horrible officiating. You can only control one of those. And, unfortunately, the Canes vaunted PK has gone missing. It's not unlike any other post season in the last 6 years- seems the Canes always leave some part of their game off the plane, whether it's goaltending, scoring or special teams. I don't see the Canes winning 4 of the next 5, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if they take both at home, but I'm not anticipating it. I've resigned myself to the fact I can go to Canes games during the season and watch them play good hockey and win a lot of games. But when it comes to the post season, all bets are off.
