To be honest, I didn't read or hear of any decent goalies who may have been available. Sure, there was an article suggesting Florida may offer Bob, but look what happened- they're actually talking about a new contract for the UFA net-minder. On the other hand, here's how someone else categorized the crickets chirping from the Canes: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3481704/winners-and-losers-from-2026-nhl-trade-deadline The Hurricanes were in excellent position to make a splash but did nothing other than add some toughness to their fourth line in Nicolas Deslauriers. That's awfully disappointing for the Eastern Conference club, which entered the deadline with four first-round picks over the next three years, a strong farm system, and more cap space than any other contender. While Carolina doesn't have any glaring holes, upgrading the second-line center spot should've been a priority. Can it win a Cup with 5-foot-8 sophomore Logan Stankoven in that role? He's likely better suited to play wing. Adding a goalie would've helped, too, given Brandon Bussi's inexperience and Frederik Andersen's struggles. A depth defenseman wouldn't have hurt either. The Hurricanes have a pretty straightforward path to another Eastern Conference Final, considering how weak the rest of the Metropolitan Division is. But nobody should be surprised if they're once again outmatched by whoever emerges from the superior Atlantic Division, in part because of the inaction by GM Eric Tulsky. --------------------------------------- Exactly what a few of the astute regulars on this board have hypothesized, I might add. And if a handful of fans can see this.... well....

Dude, if last night was a good win... (these are but a few choice lines from your posts last night). "Did Rod‘s fuging ass really go with Anderson again over Bussi three games in a row? What the fug is happening with this bullshit organization?" "I fuging hate this organization so much. fug you rod." "Freddie sucks. What the fug" "Blue line sucks. PK SUCKS. FREDDIE fuging SUCKS."
-
Freddie played well, gave up the short side for a goal, and wasn't challenged too often, but made some very timely saves. RBA put him in net last night because he was 18-3 vs Oilers going into the game. Blue line was very good and really locked down a very fast team, holding them to 18 SOG. Refs even gifted the Oilers a PP late and it didn't help. I have no idea how the ref saw Miller trip McJesus. Canes kept up the pace and pressure for 60 solid minutes last nite. Well done.
-
Anyone explain the logic playing Freddie against the best 2 opponents on the road trip?
-
Me, too. But I'm a huge music buff and could listen for hours. Any Blackberry Smoke fans out there?
-
An interesting thread would be: Who replaces RBA? And it can't be just another retread- the league is overflowing with them.
-
Deja vu all over again. The only difference being it doesn't look like Florida will be the other one.
-
I have found a couple podcasts, not sports related, and Sirius/XM, Pandora and Spotify give me all the music options I could ask for.
-
I intentionally do not listen to or watch sports talking heads for that very reason.
-
I gotta watch the pregame or first 15 of the game just to hear how Tripp & Mike spin the TDL crickets.
-
What's the cap next year? Have to figure in that number as well. Regardless, the Canes left $40M on the table. And you can't take it with you into next season. I guess you have to ask yourself, which costs you more? A TDL deal in season, or a UFA deal after the season?
-
20 minutes and.... ? I may have to rescind my season tickets if this is any indication of just how serious the Canes are about winning.
-
Bussi was not good last night. Freddie has not been good all season. Bussi's oh-poo moments are few and far between. Andersen is a seasoned, experienced, successful net minder. His flashes of brilliance have been few and far between. Bussi is a rookie and I think a lot of us are just waiting for the honeymoon to end. Of course there are different levels of expectations between the 2.
-
Avs just got better acquiring 29-year old, RH center, Nicolas Roy from Toronto for a 1st and 5th down the road. 53% career faceoff wins. I sure hope Tulsky isn't sitting this one out.
-
100%. The best goalie in the league isn't stopping wide open looks in the slot below the dots. Canes were overly aggressive on pucks along the walls and gave up the middle of the ice all night.
-
Bussi rockin' a 786 SV %

The worst team in the NHL.....

Weather is nice enough, I'll probably be sitting on the screened porch watching.

Panthers moving Bob? But, he is 37 and way off his game this year (22-19-1). https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3491176/report-panthers-listening-to-offers-on-bobrovsky The Florida Panthers will to listen to offers for their pending unrestricted free agents leading into Friday's trade deadline, including veteran goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun. Those UFAs include forwards, AJ Greer, Tomas Nosek, D-man Jeff Petry and goalies Bob and Daniil Tarasov.

https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3481690/report-sabres-finalizing-trade-for-blues-parayko Not much there, but this line was in the article: "The Sabres and Blues reportedly discussed a trade involving Robert Thomas on Tuesday, but nothing materialized."

Buffalo has the inside track on a possible Trocheck deal. Trocheck bracing for potential trade: 'I would like to win a Stanley Cup' https://thescore.com/nhl/news/3489821

Edmonton landed Connor Murphy with a second round pick. If that's an indicator, Nikishin is worth a 3rd rounder.
-
I don't disagree about Nikishin's potential availability, but Hamilton as a replacement? Not an upgrade in my book.
-
Dougie Hamilton is fugging Charmin. He was fugging soft here and he's been soft in NJ. No fugging thanks. I'll take Boom's upside over Hamilton sliding down the back side of a meh career.

It was sarcasm. There's no guarantee for the next three. Bussi should have started the first 3 games with a day off in between and let Freddie have the last game of the trip which is a b2b. Much better chance of coming away with 6 of 8 points rather than beings odds-on favorite to get 4 and Saturday night is another crap shoot with Freddie in net.
