The Miller trade is for a 2026 first round pick. (Not sure if Dallas or Canes own)

Ghost being moved? Because I wasn't questioning the Miller move just stating I didnt like it.
My bad, yeah would have to think they would be moving someone and he would be the most likely.

Guess Ghost is getting moved if true....
Was reported by Friedman earlier.

Hornets have traded for Pat Connaughton and two second round picks for Micic.

The market turned really bad for the Canes really fast. This turned out to be a terrible year to have a lot of cap space with how much the cap rose.
At this point I suspect they’ll make a hard run at Ehlers and then run everything else back.
I've heard Ehlers and Granlund. That's about it FA wise minus Orlov and Burns.

Vegas needs to move cap....
Time to see if there was anything to the Hertl stuff
Vegas is now under the cap after Alex Pietrangelo retired.

The Carolina Hurricanes shared on Monday that they have issued qualifying offers to the following players, retaining the rights to five pending restricted free agents:
Skyler Brind'Amour
Domenick Fensore
Noel Gunler
Ronan Seeley
Ryan Suzuki
They have also traded a 2026 7th round pick for MTL goalie Cayden Primeau

Eckblad would have gotten 7-8 as a UFA.
I think Marchand is leaving.
Rumor Marchand has agreed to a 6 year 32m deal. 5.3m AAV.
Puts them over the cap by 400k.

They've got to cut around 7m in cap space, so just Hertl wouldn't get them under. Lol

Eckblad staying with Florida at a $6.1M AAV for 8 years.
They got both at a discount and Bennett at a heavy one. Still have enough for Marchand but would loose a ton of depth. They have 4.9m in cap space left after the Ekblad signing.

I think Cerrato will surprise some folks. The last two players the Canes have selected that were PPG players as freshmen were Jackson Blake and Bradly Nadeau. Cerrato’s in pretty good company as a PPG producer as a freshmen. He’s also a fantastic skater.
Sure, he’s an overager but I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s centering the 4th line in a couple years.
I surprisingly like this pick, I think he makes the team as well in the next couple years.

Burns was actually pretty solid defensively its his offense that's fallen off a cliff
Why I put him with Ghosty on the third line. He can focus defensively while ES. If needed can play PP2 in a pinch but id have him focus solely on defense and leave him off the PP in favor of Nikishin. 3rd pairing and PK minutes with 15-17m of ice time seems perfect.

This is a damn good deal. He can score buckets, shoot the ball from 3.
Can back up Ball or play the 2 since Ball has size and the teams 1-4 gives defensive versatility. (Even if it's not good versatility, lol)
Dunno if they start him or have him come off the bench as the first reserve behind Ball and Green/ Kon at the two.
Makes Green expendable for another trade though.

2 first round picks for Mark was absolutely criminal. That is great return.
Yeah I'm surprised they even got one first for him much less two of them. Hell of a trade by the front office.

Burns on a third line is perfect. But Walker ain’t playing with Slavin so who goes between him and ghost?
Slavin Chatfield
Nikishin Walker
Ghost Burns
Best I can come up with baring doing trades of some sort. That last pairing would be a disaster I think but at least it's the third pair. lol

Vegas and Marner are in a pickle, if they can't complete the sign and trade with Toronto. Interesting to see what happens with that, Vegas would need to cut around 9m in cap space to make the signing possible and that's with them making no other changes to the team.

Let's keep it real here. That man did not look or sound like someone thrilled to be drafted to the Utah Jazz.

Only thing that matters is that he reported to the team with his family while he was wearing team gear.

Burns expected back on a 1 year deal worth 5-6m.
Ehlers rumors again pointing at a signing in Carolina.
CBS predicts Granlund will sign with the Canes.
Day 1 of FA should be pretty crazy.

There would be like 10 teams that got all the top flight players. Carolina would be an actual G league team.
Only way it would work is a hard cap of like 150m, lower max contracts, limit rookie contracts, etc which players will never go for.
