I swear no matter how good we might be playing the damn Heat are always a damn thorn in our side. Hate these MFers.
Herro has made at least 3 ridiculous 3 pt shots and has been absolutely scorching in this game.

115-111 with 5:08 left.
-
Heat with a 9-0 run and now up 7 with 5:48 left.
-
Not looking good late. Hornets down 5 with 6:20 left
-
101-98 after 3. Hornets up
-
Up 3 at halftime 61-58.
-
Much better 2nd so far for the hornets.
Up 6 now.
-
Not a great start to the game so far.
-
3.5 back of the 5th seed
2.5 back of the 6th seed
2 back from both Orlando and Miami in 7th and 8th.
Chances of getting to the 5th or 6th seed are definitely going up.

What's the cap next year? Have to figure in that number as well.
Regardless, the Canes left $40M on the table. And you can't take it with you into next season.
I guess you have to ask yourself, which costs you more? A TDL deal in season, or a UFA deal after the season?
The cap will be 104m and the Canes are at 89.77m with 14.23m cap space not counting an extension for Nikishin.
Only losses on the roster otherwise will be Jankowski, Deslauriers, Reilly and Andersen.
Most likely why they were so hellbent on moving KK.
-
Biggest thing that I can pull is that on every big deal the hurricanes have been in this season they have refused to make a trade unless KK was being taken back by the other team.

Im fine moving Stankoven or Blake, Won't be happy if its Boom (don't think it is) or Nadeu
NY specifically wanted Nadeau for Trocheck plus picks
-
David Pagnotta saying Hurricanes were out on Trocheck as of almost 10 minutes ago.
-
Also just to add
Deslauriers will likely get playing time on the forth line, he's someone that Rod wanted specifically.
-
Unless something crazy happens with NY and Trocheck the Canes are done.
NY is ok waiting til the summer to trade Trocheck and their asking price is high.
Think Nadeau plus another player plus a first and draft capital for them to take KK back.
So think
Nadeau, KK, Fensore
First, 2nd and a couple late picks.
-
Hurricanes acquire
Nicolas Deslauriers
For a conditional 7th round pick.

Troch isn’t bottom level. Prob some depth
Not what I meant,
I meant they are trading for a bottom 6 forward to replace KK because he's being traded to NY in the Trocheck deal.

Hurricanes working on a move for a bottom 6 forward. Maybe signaling that the Trocheck for KK and draft picks plus a prospect deal is still on the table.

Last I've heard the Hurricanes have been backing out of deals if the other team isn't willing to take kk in the deal.
The Pettersson deal fell apart because of it and maybe even the Trocheck deal as well.

Whoever you get has to be able to shoot a 3 for spacing purposes, especially if you want to replace Miles at 4 with Moose and run a different center.
I like the Miles for Giannis trade idea but where do you put him? At center?
Can you imagine a double screen and roll/slip with with Lamelo, Giannis and Kon...
If you do that trade you need another free agent / draft pick to play at 4 that can stretch the floor otherwise I don't think it works.

Craziest stat I've seen today and that's saying something.
Kon Knueppel is tied with MJ...(Yes that MJ) for most games as a rookie with 20 points and 65% true shooting.
-
Of the other three teams to win 6 games by 15 points or more, all three made the Conference finals and two won the championship that season.

Second longest win streak by 15 or more points in NBA history.
The fourth team in NBA history to beat the last three NBA champions in a season, first in 60 years.
Lead the league in holding opponents under 100 with 15 games.

All signs point to legit. We’ve been way better than our record the last few years it’s just we’ve had brutal injury luck. Also I’ve watched nearly every game this year and 3 things have stood out to me even when healthy from early in the year to now:
1. Early on Lee had some brutal rotations and situational coaching but he’s improved a ton there. We lost some close ones early we should’ve won. Sure most our recent games have been blowouts but in close games we’ve improved a ton there.
2. Defense. Overall team defense has improved so much, it’s not just hot shooting winning games. This D is absolutely a real trend and sustainable. LaMelo in particular has gone from flat out bad defensively to above average. We have so much length we always should’ve been good defensively but it took time for guys to buy in and really hone in on it which they have.
3. Pretty much all our young guys have taken strides forward. Moose’s development as a passer has been insane, Miller is putting it all together to be an elite 3 tier scorer able to hit 3s, mid range and finish at the rim. LaMelo still some poor shot selection but has cut the turnovers considerably. Kon has been a great shooter all year but has steadily improved in other aspects of the game too.
It has definitely been surprising how quickly it all came together out of nowhere but really none of it surprises me. We’ve been building towards this for years now.
It didn't really come out of nowhere though. They are negative 6 in expected wins with an expected record of 38-25.
They just started the year unhealthy and were loosing close games.

Falling apart with turnovers on two of three possessions with a Kon 3pt make in between them.
