Hornets signed Spencer Dinwiddie to a one year deal.
-
K'Andre confirmed he's playing right side and it was discussed with him prior to signing.
So we do now know the most likely pairings
Slavin - Miller
Nikishin - Chatfield
Ghost - Walker

Would have guessed Steve Smith in the 3rd but no WR.
Can't fathom Taylor Moton in the 2nd as an OL but I don't have anyone else who could make that kind of list.
DB I got Josh Norman and no idea beyond that. All the other DBs who were good were early rounders (Gamble, Minter, Horn, even Godfrey as a 3rd rounder)
Smith ran into a Will Shields problem. Lol

The athletic has the right Idea IMO
Jarvis will be our 1B center.....
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6472946/2025/07/04/hurricanes-lineup-miller-ehlers/
It's either Jarvis or Stankoven unless they pull off a trade. I'd imagine that KK will play wing on the third line.
Svechnikov - Aho - Ehlers
Hall - Jarvis - Stankoven
Martinook - Staal - KK
Robinson - Jankowski - Carrier
Looks a lot better to me. Lol

They plan to start Kalkbrenner and see what they've got in him.

I meant when we acquired him he was a full on bust for Montreal, heck considering he was a #3 pick he is a bust.
I wont argue he would be a serviceable low end #3 center but lets be real a guy drafted #3 should be much better.
Draft bust, most definitely for sure. Misunderstood what you were saying. My bad.

Yep if Rantanen hadn't taken so long to make a deal with Dallas, Boeser would have been a Cane at the deadline. Just ran out of time making the final details work out.

If he’s fine as a 3rd line guy he would be easy to trade. Nobody wants him lol.
They almost traded him and the Dallas first at the trade deadline for Boeser.

There is no comparison between the two.....
KK was a bust, Miller had a rough year in laviolettes system but he does produce.
I wouldn't even say KK has been a bust, he was signed to be the 3rd center to replace Staal with potential to be the 2nd center. Staal didn't retire so it forced KK to the 2nd line where he shouldn't be. He's fine as a 3rd line guy.

Burns contract with Colorado is a base of 1m with 3m in incentives.

Hertl might still be a possiblity.
Vegas is going after Rasmus Andersson and would need to shed salary to make it happen.

Hey at least you never get sticker shock!
At least they didn't get the chance to offer Bouchard 11.5-12m AAV. Lol
But no never get sticker shock on deals. I used to be much better at this when I had sources with the Panthers and Hurricanes. But alas everything good must come to an end. lol

In fairness you pretty consistently OVERESTIMATE what extensions and signings will be....
Last year you were swearing the Elhers # would be Jarvis.
In the future just take a 1 to 1.5 off what you think will happen
Rumors where that NY offered him 7.5-8m and he immediately told them no. A few other teams offered similar deals to the NY one and that Washington was willing to go over 9m AAV to sign Ehlers, so kinda why I expected it to be higher. However fair enough.

Another good thing about Ehlers is he can play both wing spots. So if they do try Jarvis at 2c, team would look like this.
Svechnikov - Aho - Ehlers
Hall - Jarvis - Blake
Martinook - Staal - Stankoven
Robinson - KK - Carrier
Slavin - Miller
Nikishin - Chatfield
Ghost - Walke
Andersen
Kotchekov
Does that get past Florida tho...

With Ehlers, you're buying into him going up another level with more playing time and staying healthy.
If he stays healthy he will definitely get more playing time in Carolina. The Jets massively underplayed him

Do they have to spend money to hit the salary floor or something?

The Canes still have 9.5 million in cap space..... more moves via trade i imagine
Puck Pedia has them at 10.6m, according to a tweet they sent.

Tulsky putting in work. I like both the Miller deal and this one. 8.5m AAV for Ehlers is lot less than I expected.

Yeah, this is what I've been talking about for some time. What is it? Is it the team? The geographic? The GM and/or coach?
The Canes cannot lure top end talent here and I can't figure out what the issue is.
With Ehlers, it's all about money from what I've heard. Still expecting the Canes to sign him at around 9.5m AAV unless it's gone up again.
Others is mostly geographic location. Raleigh isn't a very big city that's what a lot of young couples want "Ranatan and Marner"

So what I heard wasn't wrong, he just took less term and money to sign with the Canes. Nice!
