Not sure if I like the Marner stuff but we will see either way.

don't know what the fascination is with Marner, he seems like he wouldn't fit Rod's system

Really hope Marner hates Raleigh.  I know we’re desperate for star power but I’d steer clear of this one.

I think he fits, he's a two way player and had over or around 50 hits last season. Also I'm just going off what I heard. I can say he's definitely the top target FA wise, there are others via FA and trades that are also high on the list. They will go through the top players at every position and run the phones ragged trade wise.

Where did you hear this? Or is this speculation?

I'd like Burns back. Maybe not paired with Slavin.

From someone that told me about the Walker and Ghosty signings last off-season. Burns would not be on first pair. Would be with Nikishin on 2nd pair, if Nikishin is able to learn the language enough to make the team.

Also Canes will definitely offer Marner and the team has already talked to his agent. Expected offer/rate it will take to sign him will be 13AAVx7 years.

  3. Little worried about Jarvy Shoulder and that torn cuff, it's needed surgery for 2 years now and he's gonna play with it injured again next season.

I like the toughness but would definitely prefer it to be fixed. He's an intritical player on the team going forward.

Also I was high on pain pills last time I wrote about saving cap space but I didn't go into detail cause I wouldn't have been able to do so. "still on a ton of pain medication but not as nearly as many, think I'm down to 23 pills a day from 32 a few days ago, 18 of them are for pain management in some form or another."

But I digress let's get to the point I was trying to make in my last post about saving, I'll now use Jarvis as an example.

Let's say the canes spend 23m of the 28m in space they have available. Then have Jarvis get surgery and put him on LTIR at the start of the regular season.

You let the cap space sit til the trade deadline. At the deadline that cap space would have accural on it and the team can use that space and spend 24m on incoming salary for the rest of the season. Let's say they bring in 5 players and send out two. "player A has an 8m AAV contract" he'd cost Carolina 4m the rest of the season. Player B makes 10 "cost of 5. So forth and so forth.

Using that accural system and the Jarvis LTIR, the Canes could then go into the playoffs with a healthy Jarvis and be 19m over the cap legally for a cup run. The more cap space available at the start of the season, the larger the accural would be at the trade deadline.

That was the first part of what I was going to try and articulate the other day but I'm on 35mg of oxy every 6 hours plus ketorolac and two other pain pills and another for kidney spasms.

    Have a wonderful night everyone

The Oilers took Florida to 7 last year.  They could definitely win this year.

If Hyman could come back, definitely. Fact he probably can't, so id say probably not. They have Jeff skinner out right now on the third line.

As much I I dont wanna give rod an out, I can honestly say had Pecse been healthy last year and Chatfield this year we may have been in the ECF its downright scary how bad Deanglo was last year and Orlov was this year.

I don't wanna but after looking at that .. I've got to give it to him. You can't have 3 defenders posting -5GS over a series and win. As much as I don't necessarily agree with Nikishin's and much of Morrow was in one game .. still ya can't win like that at all. No chance in hell.

You aren't taking into account that the cap is expected to increase 8 or 9 million or so for the 2026-2027 season.

Also NHL cap space doesnt roll over so there is no "saving" cap even if the cap wasn't increasing (which it is) you could still sign players with that money for one year deals 😉

So stop spewing BS cap metrics that you are almost never correct about.

Nothing to do with roll over or any other thing you posted. Fact is Canes will want to sign three of those four. Any big time AAV contracts are going to hurt that 2026 roster which is at 60m spent on 14 players right now.

That's all I meant by it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I am researching this lottery scientifically to see the odds of all these “better” teams moving up.  I am adding how the NBA benefits from said team moving up.

First…there is no draft at all since the lottery that hasn’t had questionable results.  None.  In years where the top pick was clearly not a franchise player things went to plan.  The odds that Dallas, San Antonio and Philly get top 3 picks is nearly impossible.  The top 3 teams had 42 % chance to get the top pick.  None of them got the top pick.  That is nearly impossible.

Lets not even go deeper cuz there is much more here but when you couple this with the real world scenarios we are talking about they is no way statistic that LeBron goes to Cleveland, Rose to the Bulls etc.

I am really starting to see a pattern where the teams are actually in on it which is disturbing.  The Hornets/ Bobcats have actually helped other teams via the draft more than any team.

I posted the odds. It was 1-4000

I was never a 90s member, but I did read them in the 2000s. I was a member on "the herald'(sp?) and Darin Gantts papers website(was that the herald?? geez..). Steve Reed was a good reporter on both hornets and Panthers, I forget that website/paper. I just remember the panthers.com was 4 day joke with old information and they at one point had a forum too, it didn't last and was a total mess. I know when the observer shut down comments, many came here. I was on scout.com and that too shut down, but it got over modded and I got banned(??) posting a Dave Chappelle KKK skit. Mods thought it was the real thing never cared to watch it. I was bouncing around and always knew of this place, honestly I didn't like how it had too many members...weirdo. Still at that point Panthers.com was joke, they would post release players from days ago and nothing worth reading or watching (minus pressers). Then Bill voth changed the site and updated it to be fresh along with that best SM Force. They understood modern digital era and years passed and now its the best website for all things Panthers. They even break news there now too, unheard of years ago.

Here at the huddle used to have the most freedom(what happen??), that's why I planted myself here. I enjoyed Zobs TC notes, pictures, and insight. Now people are on x, bragbook, or intrasface.

    David Tepper happened.
