  1. Wasn't Baker Mayfield being clowned on lastoff-season?? And he ended up having a pretty good year and going to the playoffs with Tampa Bay.

I know he's not a QB but I also remember people panicking when Jamar Chase was dropping a bunch of balls the off-season before his rookie year started. Then he did great when the actual games started.

Bryce had almost nothing but high praise all off season before his rookie year actually started. Then he proceeded to fall off a cliff and be the worst starting QB in the league.

People put way too much stock into off season practices.

  2. Notice how people are all using the exact same picture as their evidence that Bryce gained a ton of muscle.

Not that that muscle really matters for a QB that much. AR was rocked the hell up and he couldn't stay healthy.  Mahomes looks very average or even chubby and he's the best qb in the league.

This is just an off season gossip session because there's not much else going on

To be honest I just haven't been paying attention. I have PTSD from all these shitty Tepper hires. I'm just going to wait and see what takes the field.

This is the best way to look at it imo. I cant exactly remember but I'm pretty sure there were plenty here over the moon for Rhule and Reich and we see how that ended up

I particularly remember it with Rhule. People loved the way he talked and inspired at first. Then his message just soured and everyone turned against him eventually when we weren't winning enough games.

  4. He probably can't improve his arm strength for throwing over pressure, the video creator  mentioned bryces inability to throw over pressure multiple times. That kinda stuck out to me.

If his ideal comp is like a Tua 2.0 then they're definitely gonna have to get some really good players around him. And you better hope Canales is the next coming of Mike McDaniels

  5. I was just about to post this. Great video and it's not too long

+ Some nice throws, especially in the intermediate middle of the field

    + Ability to extend plays

    + Better than you'd think at scrambling/running

    - Poor deep ball arm strength, especially while under pressure

    - Lot of inaccurate throws otherwise especially outbreaking routes Bryce would commonly overthrow WRs down the field on/near the hashes

    - His short stature affects his ball trajectory/field vision when defensive players get close to Bryce and see him loading up to throw

    - Bad at escaping pressure/sacks

    - Needs to get better with turnovers/decision making

    > Mingo lost a ton of potential yards while open, because Bryce threw him a Ton of uncatchable balls

    > Bryces WRs were near the bottom of the league in WR separation metrics

    > O line was horrendous and played a big role

The DJ Moore revenge game.  You know we always lose in revenge games.

Didn't he already have that last year? The Chicago game was the only one I didn't watch or listen to live. I watched a quick replay of it and don't even remember how dj Moore did.

Wasn't much offense from either team iirc

  7. I kinda want to use this as a barometer of how people feel about Bryce as well. But the main purpose of this thread is mainly for those who have either mixed feelings or feel negative about Bryce.

What exactly would it take for you to believe he's the franchise qb for the next decade? Or maybe simplifying that question,  what kind of stats would he need in need to really earn a top 10 qb deal/market rate for a 2nd contract with the panthers? Maybe that's a broader question because they could hold on to him for 4 or 5 years.

Maybe the key factor here is I don't believe Canales is tied to Bryce at all emotionally.  I don't truly know how much weight he has in the room to be able to move on from Bryce if he sucks again I guess, but I don't see him just sitting on his hands if we go 2 to 4 wins again.

I'll try my hand at it here. I'd say something like 25 TDs 15 INTs or less, 3000+ passing yards, around 65%+ completions.  Wins and losses not be as relevant of a stat prediction for Bryce alone, but I would assume if we're at least somewhat competitive for the division that helps his case a lot.  If we have a winning record or a playoff appearance (or both), either of those may be more than enough regardless of Bryces performance because of how long we've been in a playoffs/winning season drought.

Looking at the opposite end of the spectrum,  I doubt this happens with all the changes BUT. If Bryce turns in another year with a 1:1 TD:INT ratio again or a negative ratio that's gonna spell trouble. Even if he has God awful stats he'd definitely still be on the team year 3 contractually, but I'd say that Canales wouldn't be beholden to keep starting him unless there was a directive from teppper to do so.

People keep saying the 2025 draft is a dead zone for QBs but Quin Ewers, Carson Beck, and Shedur Sanders are all of age, and any of them or someone else could blow up by the end of the next college season.

  8. A lot of us were calling for offensive line help this draft this off-season after seeing it collapse last year due to injuries.

I personally found it bizzare that they would spend so much addressing RG and LG. And then just do a patch job at C relying on two guys that have been injured two years in a row and have minimal experience playing the position in the NFL.

What were your thoughts on this? This is probably the main thing the made me not love this draft.  If wed drafted JPJ or Frazier in R2 and gotten a decent RB later it woudlve been perfect to me.

I feel like all that money they spent will be pissed into to the wind if Corbett/Christensen/Mays suck and/are injured.

  9. They really should have gotten JPJ or Frazier in R2 and picked up a RB later

    R1 Legette

R2 JPJ or Frazier can't remember which was available, both were if we didn't trade down iirc

    R3 Payton Wilson

R4 Sanders or RB of choice

R5-R7 depth, personally I woudlve gotten Brendan Rice in R6

  10. C+ or B- . The offensive players we got look good but I wasn't impressed at all with the defensive selections. We'll see I guess.

Defintely will re-evaluate the grade after their first year is over. I think particularly if we hit big on 2 of the of offensive players itll be a great draft from that alone.

Getting that R2 pick next year back was probably my favorite thing about this draft even above any of the players. That was a gaping hole in the 2025 draft that I was miffed about when we did the trade up for Bryce. That trade down by Morgan this weekend effectively stopped the bleeding from the Bryce trade up, draft capital wise.

  11. I'm really surprised the Panthers got a popular fan pick JaTavion Sanders. Very common mock draft target in R3 and R4.

R5 - R7 is typically a crapshoot. I'm personally looking at Oline depth and BPA I guess. I don't think Corner is high on their priority list.

  12. I want at least 2 of these 4 picks to not be project players for the love of God

We've been so bad at drafting outside of the first two rounds for a very long time. Hitting on even one of these day 3 picks would a pleasant suprise.

Corbett got beat like a drum regularly as a guard before he got injured. So much so they went out a got the best FA guard available to replace him. So now, instead of putting him on the bench or on the street they are converting him to starting center. An underperforming guard coming off 2 season ending knee injuries will now be the starting center. How the hell does that sound like a wise decision?

I would've easily taken JPJ or Frazier in R2 and BPA in R3. They should've just taken a flyer on Trey Benson or Braelon Allen if they were that hard up for RB in R4 through R6.

I was okay with the Legette pick because it makes sense. But picking a RB coming off an ACL for R2 and a developmental LB in R3 was bizzare to me.
