  1. People forget how many injuries we had last year.  CMC yeah but Jackson missed a ton of time with his foot and the games he played a lot of time he was out by halftime.  The OL in general was all banged up on the left side all season.  Thoes were or 2 weakest positions and we were still in most all of the games and with a better qb probably win 7 or 8 games.  So I see 8 games min with a max of 12.  I will go 11 wins.  And if people really think the Saints are going to be good I don't get what they are seeing.  If they win at least 8 games I will find Alice and give him a kiss.  I think they are a 5 or 6 win team.

I'd agree but I think Hartsfield is filling in at CB until Bouye comes back which would mean Chandler is our primary FS backup for now.

The problem with having so many guys that can play multiple positions is that you really don't have many quality backups for any 1 position.  Reddick and Luvu are olb/de.  They are really not off ball lb.  If Shaq or Carter goes down then Chinn moves back to lb and someone else (Heartsfield) replaces him.  You end up moving 2 guys around on defense and changing the way your defense runs instead of just replacing him with just a guy off the bench.  If changes the way your defense communicates and plays.  Like moving Moton to LT if Irving gets hurt.  It changes the way the whole ol plays because you change both tackles.

They like finding good skill sets and coaching them up.  Morgan--has the size and the tools, but just was not part of that Bowling Green/Florida International QB pipeline to the NFL...I think Jordan is a good athlete that MIGHT be out of position at Cincy--he could be a center or maybe he is more of a pure RG if that makes any sense....But in the wide zone, I expect him to be better than what he was at Cincy.

Erving--good athlete, can play all 5 OL positions.

    Elflein--good athlete, can play G/C.

Christensen--good athlete, can play 4 OL positions (questionably)

We are seeing a pattern, but will they keep Darnold safe?  I expect to see a lot of running the football, lotta short passes, not a lotta deep passes. Sounds like Bridgewater, but Darnold was hitting the WRs in stride so they could gain YACs.

Fitterer---if you can't pick an OL, get someone in who can.  We need to protect Darnold if we are going to succeed.

This is what the Seahawks have done every since they drafted Wilson.  Don't draft one guy who plays 1 position really well.  Instead, draft a bunch of guys who can play a bunch of position ok. Then mix and match until you find something that works.  I hope it works here better than it has with the Seahawks.

  4. Cam's first 4 preseason games of 2011 he completed under 50% of his passes and threw for 1 TD.   Then he goes out in his first 2 regular season game and throws for 400 yards in each and 3 TD's.  Just wait is all I am saying

You mean to tell me that a crusty old defensive coordinator from some low rank conference college program can take a bunch of rookies and use college concepts to create a defense that confuses a NFL HOF QB?

Next you'll tell me that pigs can fly.

the laughs continue from New Orleans.

#Saints veteran CB Patrick Robinson informed the team that he is retiring, per agent @Agentbutler1. After 11 seasons and a Super Bowl title, the former first-rounder calls it quits.

Well they need someone at corner.  If you look at the corners on their roster they have Lattimore, Brian Pool, Prince Amukamara who's 90 and did not play last year, and a bunch of rookies and guys you never heard of or who have not play anything but special teams in years if ever.  Their DT are about the same.

Honestly, hard to find too much fault with these predictions.  Bucs on paper are the clear favorites in the NFC South, IMO the Panthers and Saints have good rosters overall but major questions at QB and OT for the Panthers and secondary for the Saints.  I likewise see the Falcons bottom out this year.

I'm all onboard with the 10-7 prediction and hopefully a wild card.  Ultimately, it would be nice to just be in the race all season long at this point.

2017 and especially 2015 are getting long into the rearview mirror at this point... Rhule needs to prove his meddle at the NFL level this year and at least have a team competing for the playoffs.

I don't get how people keep saying the Saint have a good roster.   Did people not see how much they lost in the offseason?

Their corners consist of Lattimore (who is really good) and a bunch of JAG.  Their LB are pretty much the same with Davis and then rookies and JAG.  At DT they will be lucky to get anything close to average from any but Omyemata.  Their OL is good but they have 1 really good reciever and nothing after that and 1 really good running back and then just a group of JAG.  We have better TE than they do and Brees kept it working because he knew the offense so well.  So unless Jameis or Hill is as good as Brees I see this team having a top 5 pick next year.

    Or exciting.

Darnold plays better than Teddy, which even some of his detractors concede, and Teddy was  just below average in many categories.

As for ints,  Darnold's 3% last year  was bad, but still better than the 3.1% in '16 and 3.3% in '18 that Tannehill had.

Tannehill's is now at 1.5 int%.   Darnold doesn't have to get close to that for us to be good.

Teddy had a 2.1 int% last year, a very reasonable target for Darnold this year.

People seem to forget that Darnold had a winning QB record in 2019, with the JETS and Gase.  That year, he had better a QB -record than Prescott, Ryan, Winston, Stafford, Rivers, and our Newton and  Kyle Allen.   Now that's a ridiculous comparison, I know.   But see how much situation matters?  Sam may fail, but I wouldn't say the odds lean overwhelmingly that way.

You don't have to have rose colored glasses to see that Sam could work, there's plenty of data to support it.  He has definite flashes on film.

The Bucs stood still and it looks like aints and birds took a step backward.

I think we changed radically for the better.

In '19 Gase took the line calls and alot of adjustments they make off Darnold and gave it to the center in the second half of the season.  One of his coaches said something to this effect in the offseason.

Everyone said that is why he played so much better in '19, but instead of doing that again in '20 Gase turned around and put it all right back on Darnold.

As long as you don't treat him like Brady or Manning and expect him to call everything at the line, I think he can at least be a average QB.  Hopefully better.

I know Watson is an insane talent but the cost is still likely going to be too high. We’ve already seen what happens when you have a franchise QB with a lack of talent surrounding them. You can only go so far. Being cap strapped and likely down 3 1sts and some 2nds would seriously hamper this team’s ability to contend.

Considering the new TV deals will start in 2023 and adds alot of cap money to all the teams,  I don't know how cap strapped we would really be.  Maybe for a year but not much longer.

The big question would be the cost in picks.  Is Houston saying we are through with Watson and will take the first decent offer we get or do they want to hold out for a bidding war.  A smart team would hold out for a bidding war, but we are talking about Houston so you never know.

Can someone explain how Luke’s retirement causes dead cap?

When a guy retires, for cap purposes you treat it like you cut him.  So whatever is remaining of his signing bonus can hit either the year he retires or can be split over 2 years.

I can not prove this, but willing to bet no other team has a higher two year dead cap total than the panthers have form 2020-2021. I bet not team comes within 20 million, @Toomers or @stbugs any chance Im right?

Sad part is they can add to the dead cap this year and if not for trading Carson Wertz, Panthers would be leading AGAIN!! Bloody hell herniay........curse you!!!

2020 was 54 million.  2021 is 42.6 million and we are not done yet because the season has not started.  So almost 100 million over 2 years, yeah that is alot.
