In the article it said that is what Aho translated Keep Pounding to in French.

hmmm...interesting.  probably should have read it.

figured the 'continuer de' would be something like 'continue on' = keep on. it didn't make sense that he would be talking about a frapucinno (though i could understand it on a hot day and that's is where my mind went first for some reason). frap sounded like it would be someone knocking on a door. lucked out on that.

    .....or i googled it.

i did essentially get kicked out of 2nd semester of french on the first day in 7th grade. teachers didn't like me much back then.  kind of a trend that carried on from 4th through high school in two different states.

thats a win for all of us, a little hope would go a long way

just seeing bryce in the middle of the pack would be a huge win as well. yeah...not what we'd want for a top pick overall, but it's kind of reasonable for any rookie in his second year. but for him coming off of that year last year and considering we're going to be leaning so heavily on the run i think that's probably a fair expectation for him.

I mean technically winning 6 games is exceeding expectations so the bar is pretty low.

yes. i don't think anyone is going overboard on any projections saying that we're going to run straight into the playoffs and dominate everywhere...just that we will get back to almost average like we have been for a while and from there we can get back to being inconsistently being good.

i'm not ruling out playoffs, but only because i know we are in a stupid division and it's usually a matter of  one random turd floats to the top.

I have to assume "continuer de frapper" means something along the lines of "continuing to suck".

keep on knocking is what i think it means. that comes from 54 years of not knowing any french. i took french for a semester in 7th grade and then signed back up for a second semester. the first day of class the teacher looked at me and said, "you really don't want to be in here.....do you?" I took the hint and left. i know when i'm not wanted.

There is always that one team that performs above expectations. So why not us?

that's what i'm thinking. and knowing our history, when  we have the least expected of us, we've always done well. where we've always struggled was when people expect a lot from us.

i think we are primed to do....ok. not great, but have a much better year than most expect.

also, we're in the NFCS...the most ridiculous division there is for the randomness of yearly results. with the exception of when brady was in tampa, no one ever knew who to expect to win it all because it was different every year. we were the first to repeat as division winners, but aside from that it was largely whoever finished last would somehow finish first the next year or something crazy like that.

and then there's Bryce, who i think will do a good bit better this year. it just makes sense that we would see a good bit of improvement in him just from having a better OL, better receivers, a more decisive offensive plan and coaching, and a year under his belt.

a healthy Bosa is a pretty significant piece paired with Mack.

Given how early that game is and state of both offenses.....I think a defense is going to win that game for one of the teams.   Really amazed how they tore that O down so quick around Herbert.

right on bosa, i knew i was forgetting someone that was kind of a big deal. even with him i do like our D against their O more than their D against our O.

and yeah, that was a huge turnaround on offense for them. they basically stripped away Herbert's offense and gave him ours from last year.

I could see us beating the Chargers. East coast trip for them (I feel like they usually play terrible on the east coast trips) and their skill weapons on offense is probably more void of talent than ours is.

agreed. all they have on offense is essentially herbert with rookies and scrubs. it might be enough...but i like our defense against them. their OL is anchored in the center by bozeman. at TE, they've got hurst i guess as their starter. they've got mcconckey and dj chark and brenden rice as WRs.

and aside from khalil mack and a couple other pieces, their D doesn't look scary, especially since they are essentially starting over there. i mean their D could look as scary as our offense so it might just be a battle of which side screws up less.

but our D against their offense is what i really like matchup-wise.

I'm largely looking at non-divisional.  Division is just weird and that just will be whatever it will be.

I break it up into 3rds.

    Raiders, Chargers, Bengals, Bears

    Commanders, Broncos, Giants, Bye

    Chiefs, Cowboys, Eagles, Cardinals

I'd rather hit that Raiders clump playing our best ball vs the KC clump.

yeah makes sense. would be a good way to finish off the season.

i'm still looking at that schedule as not a horrible one for a first year coach.

Am I reading this right? We've had awful QB play for over half a decade...and we'd pass on Dak because he has no "clutch gene" or can't get it done in the playoffs--something we haven't sniffed and have no reason to believe we will for years to come?!?

Sorry, but this sounds like a starving man turning down a box of crackers because they're Great Value instead of Ritz. If a Great Value QB is available when you have none, there is no deliberation needed.

it's about not wanting to overpay for an old overrated QB who chokes on the regular. it's like a starving man not wanting to pay a million bucks for a pack of moldy crackers when you know that if you hold off a little longer you can find a better cheaper meal that won't make you sick.

    Yep.

Canales is a first year HC.  His OC is a first year OC.  Bryce is learning his 2nd O in 2 years.  The entire team will be learning a new O going into the season.  All that should likely lead to a slow start.

So I would much rather the easier part of the schedule be later.....and the team get those opponents once the team is up and running better.

I still like the middle of the schedule the best.  But yeah, I'd rather just see KC, Dal, Philly, etc early and take those losses then.  Get SD, Oak, Chi etc. late when we hopefully start coming into form.

looking at that backend, though, after the eagles it's not a ridiculously hard schedule. i like getting the cowboys at home in december is about as ideal as it can get and then there's the cards at home the next week. would be better if we had the bucs and falcons at home those last games, but they aren't the scariest thing in the world.

i can see what you mean, though...finish the season one  high note, but if we can pull off that final falcons win that would be a huge boost.

I think going 0-17 is basically as hard as going 17-0.  It's the NFL.  If someone always has a bad day and a roster full of NFL players makes them pay for it.   Really really bad teams can stumble into 1-4 wins.

4  is sort of my things go pretty good benchmark.  I don't like the how the schedule is.  I'd feel better if it was reversed and we had the backend first.

why the backend first? looks like that's the toughest part of the schedule.

i like the way it's laid out. gives us a chance to get a routine going and it's a nice build up. i'd rather work our way up and get a little momentum going heading into the more difficult games (not that they won't all be difficult).

Adding on to that - I know I read from some reporter that Dak Prescott's mentality is extremely fragile. Get in his head, and he loses focus and confidence.

Per that reporter,  anytime a big game comes up, he starts to have the jitters and hasn't seem to overcome that slump.

Dak would be an upgrade over Bryce as things currently stand. But Dak has not proven he can play in games that matters without choking.

Bryce hasn't had the chance to show anything in the NFL, so nothing much to say there. But based on his history, he's done well in college in the national championship. Theoretically he should be more confident in big games if he gets to that point.

For that alone, I'd rather keep rolling the dice on Bryce or set our sights higher. I wouldn't touch Dak with a 10 ft pole given his choking habits.

Yep. Dak is as good as he's going to get. We don't know where Bryce is going to peak. It may not be very high, but it's worth the shot.

I want to know who designed the playbook. How good are these coaches, really? How smart is the guy any?

I feel like everything he does is over the top prepared. I think conceptually it's probably been something he's been working on for a long time....much like Morgan has probably been preparing for the GM job.

I really don't doubt that it will be solid. I don't expect super creative concepts or for him to be this innovative savant, but I do expect him to find ways to make things work.

Exactly how good he is, we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm glad there are no Monday or Thursday night games. I hate those games. I always have to watch them on mute.

Especially glad there's no Thursday games. I hate them. They're dangerous. They really fug up a routine and unless you're team is coming off a bye, they play the game with little rest or prep.

Drinking early are we? Seriously,  if they pull that off I may have to give D&D a little credit. I'm not seeing it but I love the enthusiasm.

    Sober. Still feeling it.

I really like how the schedule is laid out for us. Perfect for a new HC and rebuilding team. Aside from the Bengals, there aren't  any good teams before the bye.

Chargers will be, but they're having to figure poo out just like we are and they'll be coming here for an early game. That one is a toss up. I like our defense against them.

I think we'll give the Bengals a fight, but I wouldn't put money on us winning that one.

But the saints can be swept. They're beat up and just don't have much going on. They'll be at the bottom of the division.

I feel like we will split with the falcons and the bucs.

There's nothing scary about the raiders or that washington team.

Chicago is another toss up, but they aren't scary either....not yet anyways. We're getting them early in the season so I like our chances. I especially like our defense against a rookie QB.

    And the broncos....boring.

    Giants....again, boring.

Looking at this, we've got a good defensive thing going on. I think the unit will be better this year a d we're in season 2 of Evero. I like us especially against rookie QBs, and we'll have at least 3 we're facing before the bye.

We come in and play smash mouth football and just keep hitting (pounding) away and I think we're competitive.

It's that schedule after the bye that scares me. Hopefully by that point they've built up a lot of confidence.

You get a scrappy dawg that's got some confidence and a lot of fight in him and you've always got a shot. I think that's what we'll be this year.

This year isn't about winning all the games. It's about building confidence and learning what we've got to do.

But looking at that later schedule and it's not horrible. We've got the eagles and chiefs....that's scary, but then we've got the cardinals and cowboys at home...and it's the cowboys in December. When have they been scary in December?

And we've got division games in there as well.

I think we'll do ok. The more I look at it, the better I feel about it.

The expectations for this team and especially Young are so low it’s ridiculous. 5 wins is great now? I guess that’s where we are. Fug

That's just a start. Not a lot of reason to believe we'll own it all....not yet anyways.

The goal right now is to be better and get better every year. We're digging ourselves out of a hole. Got to be realistic about the immediate outcome.

Once we get out and get a feel for the land above ground we can get some confidence about where we're heading.

the Falcons are absolutely headed in the right direction &  anyone that denies that is just simply jealous I have them as the most complete team from top to bottom in the NFCS...just saying

I think they are hamsters in a wheel. Lots of energy used to go nowhere.

They took a RB in the top 10 last year they barely used and this year they took a QB in the top 10 that wont play anytime soon. I fully approve Falcons wasting all their top picks for the foreseeable future.

This. They are the minicowboys. All hype. Talent is there, but won't win when it matters. Cousins is the perfect QB for them. Penix will get lazy sitting on the sidelines and cousins will do just enough to keep him there.

  19. Training camp will tell us part of the story.

I think we'll see a good energy throughout and a real confidence and fight readiness when the season starts.

The schedule is set up nicely to build confidence and having all games on Sunday only helps with routine. Everything is set up well for this team to feel good about what they are trying to do.

Canales builds energy and confidence and channels it all in the right direction.

We've got dawgs....he'll get them riled up, confident, and focused.

What is it that you think bryce does well? And do you think it will be good enough to win 10+ games a year, beat good teams, or win in playoffs?

I think we're getting ready to find out. Can't base much on the poo show we saw last year.

At least i can't. Y'all are probably a lot smarter than me and can probably see the future...I don't know. I just don't think the situation was conducive for a rookie QB to do anything well. New situation should help bring better results.

All my opinion, which is what all of us have to go on until the season actually starts.

And 10 games + playoffs this year? Hell no. Playoffs would only come if the rest of the division sucks and we're the turd that floats to the top.

    After that....sure, why not?
