That’s not the pressure situations I’m talking about. 49ers were winning 31-6 when that play occurred. I’m talking 4th quarter game on the line plays. Teddy failed miserably. I have no idea how Darnold will be.
i said in that post darnold can make plays that like 5 qbs in the league can make because he is talented but it’s putting it all together that most people have concerns about.
I think he's much more likely to get things rolling in those situations than teddy. I see a lot of Jake in him.

Maybe you missed this :
But if this is any indication, he'll react quite well.
Plus, he won't have to be running for his life this time with an AVERAGE(at worst) O-line that he will have in Carolina.
And also this....

I fugging told y’all. Outsmarted themselves with that first trade down in the second. That’s why this draft is a low grade for me.

It absolutely needs to happen. Too many things are left open for refs to make judgement calls. The more decisions we can take out if their hands, the better the game will be.
Ball placement should absolutely not be a judgement call. Any remaining judgement calls they make should be challengeable.

These two situations are quite a bit different though.

Just like Rhule said on the Rich Eisen show, "if everyone is thinking the same thing, no one is thinking". They have a culture that allows and even encourages, but also respects a strong difference of opinion.
It's ok. Yes, it is/was a gamble, but so is every other decision in the draft. Like Fitt also said, according to Gantt, "trust the board". They went in with a plan and trusted it and adapted it to take care of what they needed to.
Basically, it's something that I expect, bit also not something that throws up a red flag about the organization the way it does in Philly.

I really prefer a QB who can not just extend plays with his legs, but is a threat with them a la Cam and Fields.
Part of the thing that has impressed me about Darnold is his scrambling ability, being able to keep the play alive and look for the best opportunity.

Good. That's where they should be...for now. Start from the bottom and earn respect.

This comment definitely gives some legs to my earlier speculation that this staff might just be scared of rookie QBs.
I think they are looking at him being 23 years old as a rookie with more experience. Rather, just a really young guy who they can build around for a long time. I mean that's what you're wanting when you draft what you hope is a franchise QB.
He did mention, though, that there isn't a really great hit rate in drafting QBs in the first round. It's always a gamble, even this year. We'll be lucky to see half of the QBs taken in the first round still starting after 3 years.
One thing Rhule also mentioned was that when his defensive staff was looking at jets tape, snow said he looked like Matt Stafford.
Rhule also talked about conversations with him when Rhule was up for the NYJ job a couple years back and being really impressed with the tone and direction of the conversation with him, like Darnold was on another level maturity-wise.
I don't think it has anything to do with an aversion to rookie QBs and everything to do with believing in Darnold.

That's insane for the big man.
I replayed that one at least a dozen times the first time I saw it. Flat out amazing seeing that big guy run like that.

That is borderline territory there, but if i'm hungry and desperate...boneless can carry the sauce.

Those poor birds. I almost feel sorry for them.
Actually, screw 'em. Worse fans in the world. Let the wallow in misery for the next decade.

He reportedly resigned back before free agency even started.
I don't really think there's any intrigue to it, honestly. He probably just needs a break.
He's retired and has millions to live off of. Why not take a break for a while?

Wait, he didn’t resign, he RE-SIGNED!
that or the espn reporter covering our team isn’t qualified to report on intramural softball
Anyway, I wish Luke the best. One of the greatest of all time.
Raise your hand, everyone, if you think David newton can tell the difference between resigned and re-signed.
Of course probably only half the crowd probably knows this and the other half didn't and thinks I'm a grammar nazi for noticing and pointing it out.

Scared of being the Bengals? 100%.
After what we've been through for years and years I could hardly blame you.
I'll tell you I 100% believe those days are over and this team is being managed the best it has ever been.
You obviously aren't there yet, but just remember...it's ok to feel optimistic about the direction we are taking and its ok to have a little faith in the guys running the team
It will make this off-season a whole lot more fun.
Better to have faith/optimisim and then be disappointed than to never have it at all.

Well, if Slater turns into a good LT or Fields turns into a good QB while we struggle at LT or QB, it could look like a questionable decision.
I don't see a reason to jump on the "WE ARE OBVIOUSLY GENIUSES" train without the acknowledgement that we could end up regretting that 8th pick(or some of the moves after it).
We never know the full story until long after the draft.
The biggest problem and the thing that will hold someone back is thinking there is only one path and feeling that a veering off that path could possibly result in failure so it should be avoided.
Come in with an open mind and realize that regrets and mistakes are always a possibility and you live with it. They picked the best players on their board and a mistake would have been fixated on QB or LT regardless of talent skipped over on the board.
And CB is absolutely crucial when facing elite receiving competition...regardless of the perceived value by some in the "modern" nfl.
