Hurricanes Getting Calls About The Number Five Pick

1 post in this topic

Dylan Howlett: (RT from @ToddCordell) Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said on the Mark Spector Show that multiple teams are interested in moving into the top 5. The Hurricanes have received several inquiries. Rutherford said on The Team 1260 on Tuesday that the Hurricanes would entertain offers for the 5th pick in hopes of landing a top-four defenseman.

Personally, I would like to keep the fifth pick and add one of Drouin, Barkov, or Nichushkin and address our defensive needs in free agency, but JR has always been pretty stingy in free agency; so there is a chance that we could be moving on draft day (again) in exchange for a top four defenseman.

    • maybe but I doubt it would be the same...given Putin actually hates Hillary.  So there could be some money junk worth looking into but not on the Trump scale and not.
    • With the depth of this draft, I have no problems going after more picks.  I am of leery of moving up to get guys when you end up having to sell the farm.  I know Gettleman loves to say he'd rather have quarter than two dimes, so I think that's going to be a part of this draft. Then again, if we can get two impact players, a couple of contributors, can we call this a failure?  Only time will tell.  According to the draftniks like Mayock (who'se up for the Redskins job) say you can get a 2nd round pass rusher in prior years drafts in the 4th.  Seems to say to me that moving up may not have as much value as we think.
    • But Russians are the enemy, or at least 100 days ago. Why should that change so much?  Anything to undermine the President at the time. To bad racism can't be used as a defense.
