  1. I’m late, by Thornton looks like an old Seattle DB. He’s going to be a problem for the NFL. Won’t get the recognition he deserves from anyone but PFF but he’s going to have a great year. Calling it now. When Horn inevitably misses 10 games, Thornton going to come in and make Horn a trade asset.
  2. At this point, I think Bryce must have a fragile ego. The Patriots always drafted a QB, even when their guy was Tom Brady. The Panthers were worried about bringing in any perception of competition. Now right a wrong and send a fourth and Jack Plummer for Sanders.
  3. Tampa’s offense is one of, if not the most talented in the league from top to bottom. They still rely on streaky Baker but come on man, 48-14 during our “reclamation” and you expect the Panthers to be Trey Hendrickson away from competing with them? They are the best run team in the South and it’s not even particularly close. The Saints, when they get a QB with Moore worry me as well. As an aside, I feel very old. I went to the 2006 FCS National Championship Game where App State was taking on UMass, who was QB’s by Liam Cohen. The next year I went to the National Championship Game where App State took on Delaware, quarterbacked by Pitt transfer, Joe Flacco. I believe Kellen Moore was from around this same period of time at Boise State. Wild.
  4. Can we have him in place as the starter? Or trade for Sanders? I think Sanders has a lot of potential if he can sit for a year, and with his work ethic, a year in an NFL building is all I think he will need.
  5. Dude, what would Canales look like with Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent, DJ Moore, Egbuka (or the other OSU receiver), Luther Burden, Loveland, their offensive line to include Thuney, etc. what should have been telling to us, as fans, is when Ben Johnson turned the Carolina job down. If Bryce was such a progeny, he would have jumped at the opportunity to come here like he did to go to Chicago.
  6. The Bengals trading him all but secured their 4th place finish in the AFC North.
  7. Trade for Sanders. At least call. The worst they can say is no. I’m guessing some egos are too fragile for that though.
  8. I like Sellers but Richardson is giving me some pause on that. May watch Sellers more this year to see if he is reading coverage or just shooting from the hip. I’d also like to find some of the more experienced college QB’s coming out that may have a lot of question marks. As of late, those are the guys. One of those was Bo Nix, who I was on record saying we should have considered drafting. The other is now Jaxson Dart.
  9. Have had collapsed lung, with severe edema, from car crash. Can confirm, not being able to breathe and blacking out, waking up five days later, is very serious and you think you’re dying.
  10. I don’t think Canales is the issue. I give him four years. I also give Dan four years. Bryce and Evero? Good bye.
  11. My question is what could someone with more physical ability do given the same set of parameters? Canales has shown he can revive careers. I wonder what he could do with someone like, say, Jaxson Dart, Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, etc. Players with traditional measurables with adequate athleticism and fundamentals. Someone you don’t have to re-design the wheel for. I think he has the potential to be a great coach.
  12. Watching the Giants makes me think Tepper should fire himself. Both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders have outplayed Bryce. Dart has outplayed Bryce. Ward has played about like Bryce but with 10x more upside. Maybe it’s just preseason but man, it really doesn’t feel like it.
  13. Trade Plummer and a fifth for Shedeur. Let Shedeur stew with Canales for a year then have an open competition next offseason with Bryce and Shedeur. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it. I don’t know that Bryce is the guy, and it’s about time he be challenged to perform. Whatever he does in the offseason clearly doesn’t work. Let him go into next year having to look over his shoulder and see how he responds. Note: this is an overreaction thread. I’m entitled to my opinion.
  14. I mean what you would give up for a Number 3 QB is minimal. Shedeur is at minimum a second round talent on a 5th round contract. I’d like to see what Canales could do with him with no pressure to compete, or look behind him, for a year. He showed as much promise as I’d seen from Bryce up until the Falcons game last season. That’s worth a late round flyer. Kindly note this is never going to happen so it’s really not even worth replying to. But it’s something I’d explore as GM/Head Coach. It’s also Teppers wet dream, if he worked out. No doubt the Browns are going to fumble the situation they find themselves in.
  15. We are still reaping what we sowed from the Bryce trade. In that draft I wanted to trade down and do the following: 1. Re-sign Darnold 2. Re-sign Wilks 3. re-sign Foreman 4. Get Dalton Kincaid/O’Cyrus Torrance 5. Draft Charbonnet 6. Draft Mimms Now clearly this isn’t a detailed plan but it is an outline of what likely would have turned into a successful core of an outline for building the talent of the team. All of this is in my post history as well. But it’s sad that my decision making, on paper, three years ago, would have been better than what we’ve seen from Tepper’s meddling. Now I’m onboard something else that will not happen and that is offer to ship a fifth and Jack Plummer to the Browns for Shedeur. Either way, they will be the 3rd/scout team QB with the difference being that Shedeur could develop into an NFL starter on an extremely friendly deal that could result in the ability to build out a core of talent on this team. We’ve also seen what Canales can do with at minimum, NFL QB traits.
  16. The last time we only scored one touchdown in preseason, 2010. Game three better be right or we are screwed again, and Bryce is gone. unpopular take, see what the Browns want for Shedeur. Run him as third QB for the year, see what you have with him next year. If he doesn’t work out, he doesn’t work out but if he does, you basically offset some of the cost to get Bryce. I know it’s preseason and I’m trying not to overreact but it doesn’t look good fellas.
  17. As long as we don’t go back to Frank Reich where we would throw out of shotgun and run from under center, almost exclusively, I’ll be perfectly fine. Run empty sets and make the reads easier for the QB’s. If we have the receiving core for it, go for it.
  18. Part of me has started prepping for more 42-14 regular season scores. It wasn't the Browns game that did that because it is preseason. But it exposed the lack of depth the Panthers have. Also, the fact the Browns 2nd team managed to get to the Panthers 21, before ultimately winning out on a 4th and 1 where Stefanski went empty with a rookie QB, is concerning. The Browns also should have had a first down their first drive but Diontae dropped a ball and the receiver didn't get enough depth on 2nd down where he caught the ball at the sticks. concern level is high.
  19. Mike Jackson and Jaycee are both really good, as a duo, as well. They got disrespected in this. I also think they overvalue our QB room. Even though the Browns have Flacco, Pickett, and Sanders, I'd put them over Young and Dalton.
  20. From where he started, it was a leap. In terms of NFL QB play, it was hardly average. We got so used to the team being so utterly and completely terrible that any improvement seemed massive. He next step is average. It isn't Top 10. It's Top 16. If we tank again this year, he is probably gone. At which point I say we trade for someone on a favorable contract with high upside. But that's just me.
  21. 3-4 doesn't suck. It all depends on your personnel, and how you use them. Personally, I like the 4-3 and the flexibility that affords in going to nickel coverage while still maintaining a true four man front. That said, Evero shouldn't be employed by the Carolina Panthers right now. Literally no one in NFL history could have LED a defense to the worst defense in NFL history and still manage to have a job. That is absurd.
  22. The team isn’t going to be kicking 70 yard field goals unless time is running out. That leaves the opposing team also only needing about 12 yards to be in FG range.
